I've had this phone for a few months, I think the 16 Gb memory makes a big difference. I've spent ages messing about deleting apps on other phones, but yes the camera is poor. However it is quite fast and sturdy if a little heavy. I hope that helps.

I took this photo with the phone and it's not too bad in bright sunlight, in dull conditions useless

I paid around £50 for this phone, and although it was nice to begin with, I've since moved back to an older phone, with less RAM, and find it to be better.
The Pros: It's a lot of bang for your buck (technologically speaking).
The Cons: Screen is not that responsive, battery life is poor, camera is rubbish, and after having the phone for around six months, it's starting to slow down, crash, just generally deteriorate. I wouldn't get another one.

I just got a second hand Archos Helium 50D for £40, and it feels like an instant improvement, despite being less tech heavy in almost every way.

ive just got this phone of Amazon and for £50 its superb, camera isn't too great, but I rarely use that. USB file transfer to PC is a pain for some files.
Apart from that its weighty, feels well made and very fast with all the apps I use.

I also have this phone, for the money (£40ish from Gearbest) I think its great but also having some problems connecting to (Windows 10) PC, Doogee sent me a link for some drivers but they don't seem to work, mind if I ask how you are connecting to PC and if you had to install any drivers?

Sold mine and changed to a Doogee Valencia 2 Y100 Pro (!). I found the touchscreen a bit naff on the X5 pro to be honest and struggled with speed typing, the Valencia is a clear upgrade in that respect (also looks much nicer). Still great specs for the money though, and having dual sims is brilliant.

One thing to note (with both the Doogees I've owned), for whatever reason I can't tell Amazon Music to use the SD card as storage, it's greyed out.

Edit - camera is terrible on the X5 pro - the images are interpolated to make a bigger file which doesn't look great, but far worse is the slow autofocus. Don't buy if you need a decent camera
SClub
18 Apr 16 1 #8
OK interesting, I've just read on xda-developers that the SD card on my Valencia is mounted as sdcard0, which means that Amazon MP3 is using the SD card as default (thinking it is actually using the device storage, if I've got it right). X5 Pro is probably the same...I think.

Bought this last week from EU warehouse for the wife as she is bed bound and her old Note2 has developed a screen fault.

It feels cheap (hey it is) but not to the point I expect it to fall apart.
Screen is far superior than the old Note 2.
It never lags in general use (all I've used it for).
Camera seems fine (at least in day light situations).
Finger print thing works fine (says my son)
The SD card goes in the same "iphone 6 style" removable tray as the SIM and I think its a choice of dual SIM or 1 SIM and SD card.

I also bought a X5 pro a few months ago just toa use for card payments at work, this seems finefor all the above too.

Compared to Sony Z2 and iphone 6 and their respective prices (when new) these phones are a great. Don't get me wrong, I would keep my aging Z2 over either of these and they don't come close to a Samsung S7 (for example) but for a budget android I think these are great.

I've had it since it came out and it's been great so far, GPS CAN be a bit wonky, and the camera is OK, not great as such, but the overall performance has been really good, I've had Chinese phones for years and I would say the f5 is easily the best I've had (and at the price point I can't see anything better)

I got this phone for 2 work colleagues (they are averse to ordering off the internet in general let alone from China lol and no I didn't charge them any extra!) and they are both made up with it. OK, it's not a Samsung S7 or LG G5, of course, but for less than 50 quid?? Crazy bargain. Perfect as a first mobile for a young child as well. It's not like it will be a big worry to you...

Thanks for the hukd review Hammond..

Spot on with the photo, looks very good considering everyone is moaning about the camera on this £50
phone!!

Had 3 ota updates and have had no issues, running dual sims, on all the time, wifi / mobile data and a
few apps with cron jobs setup here and there.. the battery life is spectacular on this handset and if
anyone is having to charge it more than once, every couple of days, you need to do a full battery
soak down and repeat trickle charge on it. they are solid!

I've 2, that are now sat in a kitchen drawer alongside aging nokias. Initially both me and my daughter loved it. But as time went on the flaws of the phone began to shine through. Chromecast is hitty missy with some apps supporting it and others not even giving you the cast button. Signal is poor, I had to swap to my older Moto G (which this replaced) in some areas of Newcastle to get a signal. Camera is abysmal. Phone often locks up/freezes despite the 2gb ram.
You can'r use sky go or certain apps that won't play on a rooted phone (such as some banking apps).

Pay the extra and buy a branded phone from a reputable UK supplier.

My Meizu MX4 Pro has a 20.7mp Sony Exmoor rear camera which supplies superb images. The phone is more than twice the cost of the X5 Pro, of course. But on the plus side it cost less than the Moto G 3rd Gen and has a 5.5 QHD screen with 547 ppi, Samsung Equinox processor, 3350mAh battery and real HiFi DAC. If you aren't massively risk averse (the warranty is effectively meaningless) what you can get direct from China for any given amount of money makes UK-supplied mobiles from mainstream brands seem laughable TBH.

If you're looking at Elephone you might want to look at the M3. Great specs, but the first batch isn't due to be delivered from the factory until the beginning of May - it was originally due on 29th Feb! I was gonna go for it, but decided it was more than I needed and went for this instead.
If you look at other brands be careful about 4g - the 3 used in the UK are 800, 1800 and 2600 depending on your network.

it works for me at sub £40 first time around. had a couple of updates since then, seems ok apart from a load of grief when i tried to set ringtones to individual contacts (i was bored), it didn't seem to want to play. I found the battery fine. Would last a day and a half with light/medium web browsing, reasonable amount of texts / what's app etc. Perhaps the variety of the experience could be linked to varying quality batteries? They're only a few quid to replace so perhaps the QC isn't there.

Just my opinion....i had this phone for about a week and i had issues with the touch screen where i needed to poke approx 1cm below where i needed to in order for it to hit the right spot. A frustrating experience. On a slightly different note when dealing with companies such as Gearbest and Banggood if there is an issue with the phone don't hold out any hopes of a refund as they ALWAYS deny receiving the items back.

Had this phone for a while now and it's great. I would happily pay £100 - 150+ in hindsight. It takes a while to charge but once it's done you get extended use out of it with normal use - texts, video etc. Because it has a removable battery I'm just going to purchase another one and swap between 2 to prevent one from dying.

The screen isn't the best but it still easily detects the precise presses required for pausing music in the navigation bar etc. Someone above mentioned that it was slow to fast type on. There is a lag on every android device between the pressing of a key and the vibration feedback the phone provides to let you know a key has been pressed, slowing you down. Turn this off and it's fine.

I would be interested if anyone has expanded the storage beyond 32gb.

Anyone who is a bit weary of the Doogee brand, don't be, I have the Y100 Pro I got a 4 months ago, it's never had a single issue, never crashed, the operating system is not cluttered with crap, and I use two Sim cards in it.

Only slight down side if you can call it that is no major software updates from android 5.1 (they do stability and security patches though), it does come with some of the same features as 6.0 they have put their own permissions manager and power management in the OS which is not dissimilar from official 6.0, just no core features such as using MicroSD as combined storage, although I think you can mod the ROM to do that but I haven't.

My next phone upgrade would be for a bigger battery. But for this price if that bothers you buy two phones LOL,

If anyones interested in my opinion, if you are a heavy phone user like myself, the likes of doogee and elephone are probably going to be a disappointment with regards to their build quality. My elephone p7000 bent, quite catastrophically, and the frame was easily chipped, the doogee f5 whilst solid, had poor workmanship in that the volume rocker keys rattled, snd my screen developed white spots underneath. Additionally, and I know this probably doesn't affect majority of people, the software will get limited support, so you'll be stuck with the version you get shipped out with. If your a light user you will probably be fine just don't expect it to last ages, if you have a bit extra cash invest in a xiaomi (very good software support and online forums), meizu, lenovo , asus.

Got this for my dad when it was on silly offer price under £40 I believe.

He's very happy with it and when I've had a play it's quite fast and does all basic tasks fine.

For my use this is ideal. I break phones due to my work and outdoor life. Building and trekking do not mix with expensive tech. I can buy two of these and not worry about damage.

Use a doogee for work instead of my galaxy
They are cheap and do the job
Using it now
On my third one due to breaking them at work so same scenario
Still a lot cheaper than breaking my Galaxy
I'm a heavy user and have no issues with these phones
What do people expect for £50

I had an S2 before this phone and I'm happy enough with it.
Camera won't be as good as already mentioned and this can be hit and miss sometimes but on the whole its a good phone for the price.
This phone doesn't have encryption as standard wereas the S2 does.

Got my shipping confirmation today (from EU warehouse) expected within 3 days.

Can anybody recommend a screen protector? Are the £3 ones on ebay any good or is there a better quality protector I should be looking out for?

Mine came with a screen protector already fitted and is fine, might be worth waiting to see if you need one or not

22 Apr 16 1 #108
I ordered a black one from EU and it arrived today. Had sticker on it saying White so I thought they'd got my order wrong. Any way I read some forum where someone else got a white sticker on it and opened up and it was black. So I opened mine and thankfully its black.

Moral of the story; ignore the sticker on the box when yours arrives and just open it to find out.

Why are you asking him to apologise for that? It's not his fault the company you work for makes you use an anglicised pseudonym.

screen protector on it but has "Doogee" written accross it and kind of makes the screen look fuzzy :disappointed:

23 Apr 16 1 #112
Yep, mine had that, just there for transporting. But when I pulled that one off there is a nicely fitted second protector that you can only see around the edge of the screen as it has no bubbles in it, I nearly didn't spot it at first myself. Maybe they don't fit these now though?

Just received my "ordered via eBay" X6 Pro yesterday.

First impressions are quite positive. It's nowhere near the build quality of my Samsung Galaxy A3 but it's quite acceptable.

I've got one issue so far that's a fairly major one....I send Skype video messages quite regularly and so far this one isn't playing ball at all. Most of the time the recorded video just disappears (no option to send - after a long delay when pressing stop) and at other times it stutters and does not play back properly.

Anybody else here that sends Skype video messages care to comment on their experience?

Does anyone know how to root the X5 Pro? All results on google and root apps suggested do not work.

It either fails to load app or rooting fails. I;ve tried KingRoot, kingo root, framaroot, NewKingRoot.

I have usb debugging on, usb storage turned on etc.
gtd65
13 Jun 16 #128
A month later and opinion has dropped.
Battery life is fairly crap.
Charging takes way too long.
GPS is terrible.
Skype videos still don't work.
Camera is really crap but it will provide a record of course.
Getting screen glitches where it does not detect correct input, can normally be resolved with a reboot.
Have contacted vendor who recommends updating the ROM. I've no problems connecting the phone to the PC but the flashing program simply will not flash the later ROM...
The phone is generally quite responsive and reasonably well built.
This experience has been like the cheaper no name Chinese tablets. They look good and have decent specifications but they are not polished products.
I'd say an X6Pro might be worth considering for £40 but I'd recommend buying a more established Chinese brand such as ZTE or Xiaomi.

Bit of a bummer really. I recently used a similarly priced American market ZTE Warp Elite, there is no comparison in quality and performance.
gtd65
14 Jun 16 #131
Forgot to mention that when my phone rings - a blue call button appears but there is no obvious suggestion which way to swipe the button to answer the call - seems the ROM chefs forgot to add the magic ingredients for a red or green option...
