whereas it's ok to rip veg from it's roots and leave it slowly dying for a few months in a bigass freezer. it has no legs to run from you, no teeth to bite, and no mouth to scream, but it's alive, where's the proof it doesn't suffer?
time for an end to vegetable cruelty.

How on earth am I spreading hate??!!! What are you on about??!!!
mrsuperjolly
2 Apr 16#55
Don't say things that are going to offend, just keep it to yourself. If you want to do something about what you believe do something proactive that might change a situation, spreading hate doesn't work. As jamnut has proved just makes you look like a racist.

Im against all.forms of animal cruelty, including trophy hunting and I'm certainly not prejudiced, just read another of my previous comments instead of focusing on the one you have also a little bit more research by you would have given a more accurate percentage rather than the exaggerated 90% that you state , unless of course you disagree with government figures also. My comment/s were in respect of my opinions towards the original Halal comment, Shecita was never mentioned until you brought it up so although it is a very similar practice i hadnt made reference to it, i do however think its cruel also . I think the burger deal is brilliant by the way

Trophy hunting is cruel and barbaric, any condemnation from you? No, doubt it. Shechita (look it up) does not allow pre-stunning prior to slaughter, any condemnation from you? 90% of animals slaughtered in the UK under the halal method are pre-stunned. But hey, Halal is Muslim, shows your prejudice. Ever been concerned about the "living" conditions that produce your cheap chicken and cheap pork? Highly unlikely.
Agent004
2 Apr 16#49
Most Halal animals in the UK are stunned but certainly not all as the Pm has stated there won't be a ban on non stunned halal as 2 Eu countries have already done, the chances of you knowing this before you buy are slim
deany76
2 Apr 16#48
I agree, and support PETA UK but was told in the UK that the poor animals are stunned before hand.
I would like to know if this is incorrect information I was given.... no need to go into great details, I am still against Halal, but for "red tractor" food.
Cheers

I don't think you will have to worry much on that score, I had a couple of the 99p burgers a few weeks ago and there as definitely no meat in there.
There was however a rather large dry covering pretending to be a bread bun.

Calling you racist. Old technique of unjustly attacking the man (called an 'ad-homian' attack from the roman and greek sophistic tradition) because the many paragraphs above splutter into the absurd and fail to attack your arguments, and the underlying truth of horrific cruelty.

i don't believe there is a right/wrong answer to everything but I am entitled to my opinion which I have voiced here, I also respect equality and diversity but am I not entitled to question why the way animals are slaughtered in certain ways according to certain beliefs. I respect others beliefs and lifestyle choices but NOT to the detriment of other people or animals

I don't think people who complain about halal actually care about the wellbeing of animals. They're just against it because it's a 'brown' thing to do
mrsuperjolly
2 Apr 166#30
The majority of halal meat is prepared on pre stunned animals. The vast majority of animals halal or not are stunned before being slaughtered. It certainly shouldn't be banned, you need to respect the fact people have beliefs that you may not share.
Vegans believe that animals shouldn't be eaten, that doesn't mean there should be a ban on the killing of all animals. It also doesn't mean vegans should be discriminated against or judged unfairly, and neither should anyone who disagrees with them.
At the end of the day if you believe that there is a right or wrong answer to everything, then chances are a lot of your ideals are inaccurate. Everyone thinks differently, there's never going to be a definitive way to live life, but most people, including yourself I would guess, put themselves and other peoples wellbeing in front of animals.
