Bose’s new flagship headphones don’t sound very good, but their active noise cancellation (ANC) is the best I’ve ever heard — better than the ANC in the QC15, Parrot Zik, and Beats Studio. They retain Bose’s usual excellent comfort and light weight, and look less hideously outdated than most other Bose products — their designs have advanced from 1989 to 1999. If your primary goal is to dramatically reduce noise on planes or in a noisy office, I can recommend these, but the sound quality is poor for the price.

You playing FLAC recordings or something off your iphone? Sound is very impressive in my books. Try closing your eyes. oh I bought mine new not reconditioned as above.

ordered for £200 from Sonic Direct, got the iphone version by mistake. The middle key works for skipping tracks, pausing but I can't adjust the volume. Android cable is £21 from Bose but I can live with it.

Sound quality is superior to anything I've tried. I've wanted a predecessor to this since I was 18....15 years ago when I tried them at an airport. Was blown away then and I'm blown away now.

If you like singing to yourself it becomes a very eerie feeling that you're in a horror film and your voice has been taken away. It's great at keeping the kid's noise muted, I can now relax while my house is turned upside down. Admittedly it works better with background noise when you're not playing music, but once the music comes on any talking isn't noticeable.

Does anyone else feel pressure on their ears when listening to them in a quiet environment? does it take a little getting used to?

Anyone checked the Walsall store for these?

This is an excellent deal if you can get it given the retail price at Bose is £249.95

For my use (listening to speech, radio etc) my Apple Earpods that came free with an iPod sound clearer and nicer than this.

Finally tried mine out on a plane the other week. They are incredible. The roar of the plane just completely disappears and you can watch a film perfectly.

You don't realise how loud a plane is until you take them off again - it's deafening!

I've always been told that noise cancelling headphones only really cancel out more of the 'droning' sound of background noises e.g. aircraft noise. Do they completely cancel out chatting etc (and even without music playing)?

Bose give a two year warranty as long as the Seller is an authorised Bose retailer. Excellent price. I had no problems when a former pair had slight problem and they sent me a new pair straight away on advanced product replacement with the price held against my creditcard.

Thanks for the heads up, I was thinking of going for this but a bit concerned by the reviews stating the right hand headphone (that folds up) fails easily! & not sure how receptive Argos Clearance would be to get it sorted...

Agreed about the sound output, but that's just the drawback to tweaking the external sound against the music output. I find these great on the train and in the office - I can have my white noise generator at half volume as opposed to full volume, with zero effect with my older earbuds. Really happy with the silicone in-ear vs this deal's on-ear baking my ears.
