Not commenting on the price. However, I went to Euro Car Parts about 2 months ago when my battery died. I intending on picking up a Bosch one, ( I buy everything electrical Bosch as first choice). However, there was a big queue and two people were taking Bosch batteries back that had failed in under 12 months. One guy was on his 3rd! To be fair ECP swapped them with no issues as the previous purchasers had all kept their receipts. When I asked what was happening when I got to the counter the staff member said that Bosch don't make batteries anymore they stick a label on someone elses. I went for an Exide one that the guy behind the counter said come back less, was cheaper and had the same warranty.

fwiw, Bosch have never manufactured car batteries. All Bosch, Varta and may be other brands of batteries are manufactured by 'Johnson Controls' for European market.

Just picked up a new bosch S4 battery. Seems to look identical to the one I bought 4.5 years ago on the outside. They are also giving away free 5 litre can of screen wash for click & collect orders over £40.

I bought the bosch S5 for my car, I'm on my fifth replacement as it's failed once every year. In my wife's car I bought the bosch S4 and this has been trouble free. ECP have been great in replacing the failed batteries as long as you hold onto your receipt and there is a tiny charge in the battery for then to test (I had to do an overnight charge with a trickle charger from them).

Otherwise an alternative is the Exide

Costco sell Bosch batteries at a reasonable price - cheaper than Halfords own brand batteries, quite handy if you are a member and your battery is on it's way out. Plus they have good returns policy even ignoring the manufacturers guarantee they will refund you if goes wrong. You don't even need your receipt.

TCB offering 19.8% cashback if that helps anyone. Better than quidco it seems.
