Can only vote cold sorry. Mario Kart 8 black WiiU console was £180 when I bought it at Mario Kart 8 release. How has this managed to go up in price?

Yea the pricing has always been up and down for the Wii U. I bought my 8GB Wii U console with New Super Mario Bros U for £112 from John lewis about 2 years ago which was a bargain. At the moment though if you are in the market for a Wii U then the price is rarely below £200 for the premium with a game.

I want a wii u but wish the price would drop again as £200 seems a lot for it with the not many games not coming to it compared to other game consoles, I know other consoles are different playing platforms but it's still a lot in my eyes.

It's BS, with XB1 and PS4 now getting cheaper. I honestly thought the Wii-U would come down at some point, I figured I'd jump in around £130-£150. So late in the cycle I'm likely to only ever get it a few years down the line for a novelty now.

The main reason that Nintendo never really drop their console prices by much is because they always have a decent margin of profit from them. They aren't like Sony and Microsoft with their fingers in other pies. Gaming is all they do and they have to make money from them. They never sell hardware at a loss like the other consoles no matter how poor they sell. It is just the Nintendo way I suppose. They know the key franchise games will sell enough hardware to the die hard Nintendo fans for them to get by to the next generation. This seems to work for them, look how much money they have in reserve, it is insane. Anyone who says Nintendo will be out of business soon clearly needs to take a look at their financial situation. I think they may be shocked to find they have billions upon billions in cash, that's before they even consider how much each Nintendo ip is worth of they where to sell them off. Phew, that was a long post lol.

It's a really good post and you make good points. My only counter to it would be that the cost of hardware decreases significantly year on year. Therefore they can currently make Wii Us for a much lower cost than on release date. So they could surely decrease the price while maintaining a similar margin.

I really would have thought Nintendo would have its own VR before any other company, as Nintendo do I assumed it be cheaper and released before the PS4 XB1. Totally agree with you still, just saying thought they be realizing something new by this point hmm maybe a few less school girls and a lil more work Japan

Yea I agree, I think Nintendo can be pretty greedy and stubborn though sometimes, and as much as I love them are a bit behind the times. I'm hoping the Nintendo NX along with the new Nintendo president will take them in a better direction from here on.
