How many times in all of your builds have you ever run SLI, Crossfire Vs how the times that you've wasted money and paid the extra for SLI/Crossfire support but never got around to using it..? :laughing:

It's nice to have the option to run multiple graphics cards but the fact is, at the price point of the cards you would actually want to run them this board wouldn't be a consideration as it is too cheap.

Having had rather a lot of multi GPU configurations over the years they are without doubt more trouble than they are worth for anything below mega high end. Especially in a world full of terrible ports.

Always trade up to the fastest single GPU card you can before considering moving to multi GPU setups.

I put money on it you though with all your efforts you still to date have not seen twice amount GPU performance from your 2x (cough 3.5GB cough) 970's, even with all your efforts and custom drivers and fiddling per game just to get the full potential from them. :laughing:

I'd prefer 1x 980ti over two 970's :P

Its actually very useful for computer users to have on board (CPU) GPUs HDMI, DP, DVI and even VGA connectivity for a whole number of reasons, the main one for me is to use them in between upgrades of stand-alone graphics cards.

Some times its not always an option for some people (usually the ones investing in really expensive high end graphics cards) to go out and buy yet another high end expensive graphics card before they've sold of their existing one and recovered a bit of funds for their next buy.

If they haven't got a backup card in between selling their existing one they would be left with a system that's pretty much useless until they've purchased the card that they're looking for. Onboard gives them something to play with in the mean time during that period. :stuck_out_tongue:

If you think people don't game using onboard Intel and AMD GPU/APU's and HDMI, DVI, VGA or DP motherboard connectivity, you will be very surprised when you go on YouTube and see just how many people actually do.

Type intel® hd graphics 530 gaming for example or HD4600 Gaming in YouTubes search.


Then theirs the fact that AMD for example, allows you to setup crossfire 'Dual Graphics', which is their onboard APU graphics in conjunction with compatible stand-alone AMD cards, and this actually offers entry level 'gamers' way better FPS improvements. See here:

It's just part of the chipset. Sounds like X99 is the chipset for you.

I get that, but on a 'gaming spec' computer, you would never use your cpu as the gpu as well! I would rather more useful io on the rear, more usb, esata ect than this, which would ultimately be wasted

Surely a 'gaming mobo' would drop the on board video? Unless they are only connected to the graphics cards, and not an on board chip (which would be surprising)

Biostar = bottom bargain basement budget gear. Joins the (now thankfully defunct) Epox. Their mobos are not generally reliable

Very rare i stray away from Asus/Gigabyte now - and MSi/ASRock as a secondary choice.

No it doesn't. Most of the reviews are very positive, and written from the perspective of this costing nearly twice as much. For this price it's an absolute steal and better than any other Z170 board you'd get for similar money.

It doesn't support SLI (Nvidia Fans) but does support AMD 3way CrossFireX as stated on the manufacturers website

Common board manufacturer in China, normally cost around GBP140 - people rarely buy this.

Not many reviews or users and only 2 year warranty, think ill give it a miss.

Which is a shame I actually like the price and spec.

On a side note I didn't know this but Amazon offer 3 year warranty on Asus motherboards, back to Amazon not some European Asus warehouse, ie replacement straight away!
