This has saved me a packet so far and I can now start down my second career as an accountant as well.

Mine hasn't arrived yet, but logged in to check the status and turns out they let you know the card number before it arrives (It's being processed). Used it on the Spotify Premium Student page et voila, Premium for £4.99.

Considering I've been paying full whack for Spotify already and would have carried on doing so this deal has already put me £37.88 up on the year!

Couple that with 6 months Prime and 5% discount (when the actual card arrives) and 10% on the Co-op (where I do lot of my lunch shopping) it's gonna save me a ton of money!

Might even do the accountancy course just so I feel a little better morally :wink:

Worked for me. I have my NUS extra card in my hand now. Didn't appear to do any checks on the course though. The irony for me is that I was a student for 5 years I didn't have one then!

Hey man, genuine student here, I enroll at uni in Sept and wanted to know what Prime discounts there are? I thought I would get 6mth free, then half price prime, but do you get anything else? Also - any advantage of student prime over just recreating trial prime accounts?

Not per NUS or Apple last I checked. In any case, got a teacher mate who is doing further studying so not an issue either way.

I wonder how many people here quoting "fraud" "morally wrong" "unethical" etc, have android boxes and don't pay for their sky/virgin programmes or pretend to cancel in order to get cheaper services from their providers.

Time to get off your high horses and realise that people will find loopholes or ways to reduce costs at all levels of society, wether it be the bankers with their off shore accounts, or the "fake" students getting a 10% discount on their shopping by doing this.

This is terrible for real students, it either means Amazon and the like will require more hoops to be jumped through or just remove discounts altogether.

Email the support email address asking for your student number, they sent mine in a matter of hours

... also morally wrong. As morally wrong as off-shore tax havens or big corporates like Starbucks, Apple, Amazon etc. not paying their full taxes - might be considered by some to be legitimate, but still morally deceptive

Hint: All graduates can receive an NUS extra card via the alumni page. I graduated in 2013 and applied for a new card a few months ago; it came through within three days. Hope this helps.

I think that to get the discount from Apple you will need an email address from a school/college/uni.

Did something similar last year. Saved on Prime, Spotify and heaps on my breakfast/lunches over a year with my office sitting above a Co-Op. Also planning on using it for Apples student discount for a new MBP when they appear. Really has been one of HUKD's better deals for me.

So i bought the voucher and signed up to e-careers and i am trying to get the nus card but it is asking me for my place of study. it won't accept e-careers as a place of study

Fraud or not, it's pretty mean spirited to behave like this. The discounts offered are to help students who often struggle financially and cynically signing up for low cost courses which you never intend to complete because it'll leave you with a net gain is a bit scummy imo.

anyone have issues getting the discounts though? When I got my NUS card, I technically had left my school at that point. But I put it on the card and got it delivered to my own address

To be honest. NUS is pretty naff now (genuine student here). I think they've got wise to the abuse of NUS cards and yes fraudulent applications. A big decline in acceptance in places. Mainly Unidays or studentbeans now. Where you do need a uni email.

My student card and Im in my 40's has just expired after a year . Didn't have to sign up or pay for a course and enjoyed a years worth of discounts at loads of places /shops./online purchases etc

And I know the NUS Card itself is £12 quid, so you'll be thinking "Why am I paying £22 ???" but you're paying £22 to become a student on top of it so you qualify to get one.
