Cheap but not enough power. Plug in 5 devices and will charge each at 1 amp. Not enough for the modern smart phone

Most smartphones at the moment are still only supposed to be charged with 1A current. If the other, more powerful devices are really "smart" they will limit the charging current to 1A anyway for older phones which are not quick charge enabled.
Current to me is not the main issue, having enough 13A sockets for all the single output chargers is. At this price this is a no-brainer for me - so ordered one :-)

Seems like a good deal for one of these if you have prime!

50w/10a from same supplier @ £11.99, but for £5.79 it's a good deal. Ordering one for low power devices / hubs.
You get to review stuff for a heavily discounted price, I've managed to get a few free items and also just got a 600Mb 802.11ac USB Wi-Fi adapter for £2.99. There's loads of these type of 50W, 60W multi chargers on amzreviews. Also you're not allowed to give a positive review because you got it for free or really cheap and you should only review it when you actually receive the product.

IS it me or does amazon only sell stuff cheap if there is something wrong with it ... like the £90 logitech webcam for £35 which only works if you unplug and replug it in every time you wanna use it?

No it's you, Amazon sells so much stuff that there's bound to be faulty stuff.

All the Aukey stuff I've had is great quality. Currently use one of their quick chargers for a Droid Turbo and it's awesome!

That only works if your phone supports quick charge and that compatiblity is limited. Most phones on the market support 1-1.5amps at max and will not allow a higher current to pass.
