Not sure about this trend for manufacturers to produce laptops where you can't replace the battery. I always use my laptop on battery power and they tend to only last a couple of years before I have to get a new battery. I replace the laptop every 4 or 5 years. Having built-in batteries that are non user replaceable makes this an expensive option. After 2 years you can only use it plugged in or pay a FORTUNE to send it back and have the battery replaced by the makers.

Isn't this the model that has a full HD (1080p) display, but it's not IPS? Hence not good reviews on viewing angles, etc.?

Might also expect a few comments about HDD rather than SSD, as makes a substantial difference.

I've seen a few of these on display at various PC world shops. every single one of them has what appears to be a swollen battery, pushing upwards towards the screen.

Is it that expensive for them to provide 1080p graphics these days, the laptop market always seems like a damn con too me or maybe they dont have much new technology to warrant the prices they charge for more expensive laptops? Seems they are milking it to me.

I've owned 2 of these now, and just bought an Acer Nitro Black Edition only due to the fact that the ASUS 17" seem to have a real quality control issue. But these are solid machines with minimal bloatware. Heat added.

I got the i7 version of this with 12gb memory, paid £550 for it though from John Lewis, I'm really happy with it.

So this deal expires at midnight. Im very undecided whether to go for it. Never had an asus laptop before. Also its specs are very much similar to the hp essential which i can get from hp store for 339, what makes this worth the extra 60 quid? The resolution, though above there seems to be major question marks over this anyway. Hmm
