Got mine today and it's great, pleasant surprise when opening the box as it includes the Asus USB 3 hub which plugs into the micro USB port to give 2 full size ports and the active stylus pen.
Ignore the spec Very has listed as it's a mess
Correct specs are:
Intel® Core™ M 5Y10 Processor
4GB Memory
Sandisk i110 128GB SSD
12.5" Full HD 1920*1080 IPS display
Windows 10 Home 64bit
Keyboard is a bit odd in that it is bluetooth and has no physical connection to the tablet which attaches with magnets.
As such it has it's own battery inside that charges via a micro usb plug and can be plugged into the tablet to charge or into a normal usb charger.
Be aware when reading any reviews as they are likely to be for the higher spec power hungry version.
PS. If you choose to buy it on Buy now Pay later you should also get 10% credited back to you later as part of an offer they are running.

Not updated mine on the t300 yet but it did download it for another device and don't like one of the things they have done. When you go to start in the bottom left corner it now just shows the symbol or icon and NO words, i.e. settings just shows the icon and not the word settings. I have had a quick look in setting but not found the answer yet. Not researched if you can alter this yet but I quite like words as well as symbols.
On the subject of your update here is what you can also try. Go to.
C Drive
Windows
Software Distribution
Download
Highlight all files and delete
Then try windows update again.
When you download windows updates they are stored in the download folder. You don't need them after they have installed but if you have a downloaded file which for some reason hasn't installed it may not download the file again and that could be an important file required for the update. I had to do that with one of my devices on the original windows 10.
On my t300 one of the updates was an install shortcut for the anniversary update which appeared on my desktop. You can also download that install programme and will try and find the link.

Anyone else having the anniversary update stuck on 99%?
Or anyone updated successfully?
I've left it for 48 hours twice, it just doesn't complete. I wanted the new inking features. I just don't want to spend hours away trying to figure this out. Such a waste of time.
Ok if anyone has to do this, you need to find the media creation tool to download a new copy of Windows 10 which has been updated with the anniversary update and then install that. The built in update function is faulty. Had to research and try all the other options that were suggested but this worked in the end.

I am sure it's just an oversight that they will easily put right. They emailed me with the notification although I haven't checked my account yet. I will do that soon though as I will pay them another £50.00 or so.
Has anyone managed to do a proper clean install on this yet. There is no facility to boot from USB in the Bios so am struggling a bit. I am not too bothered but there is a guy on here called wenttoabetterplace who says that the only way to do a proper clean install of windows is to delete all the existing partitions which can only be done by booting from usb. I downloaded the microsoft version of windows 10 and ran it within windows but all this does is over-right the Asus version and doesn't give you the option to delete any of the old partitions. It was a bit of a faff about tbh as I had to re-install all the Asus drivers and tok me ages to get the keyboard to work. Good job I had copied all the Asus drivers but two fingered scroll isn't working which was before. I have a back up of the Asus version so may install that back on.
Does anyone know how to create boot from usb in the bios.

Yes got mine too. This is an amazing laptop for £228.99. If only those who hesitated knew what they were missing. I was lucky I accidentally ordered mine. Long story but I had added mine to the basket and was trying another voucher code to get 20% off and accidentally pressed confirm order. Then I immediately tried to cancel it and couldn't. I am glad I couldn't as it's just amazing. Feel guilty though about letting my Miix 3 go.

Thank you very much for briefing me through the tricks and I appreciate it a lot.
Somehow I managed to get it worked last night as well, what I did was to update the network adapter driver by myself, not from the automatically windows update. It worked like a charm but the sound from the TV was crap like, it maybe the case that my router is far away, will use the Wifi extender and have another go.

Ok so I tried mine tonight. Looks like you are right. Not as straight forward after all. It took me about an hour playing with a few settings but I got mine to work in the end. Here is what I did first.
Tried all the stuff that you did using connect a device. Made sure the necessary settings on my tv were ok, still no use. So thought I would try wifi direct. As my tv is plugged into my router I had this thought that it could only connect to my tv by wifi. Still not sure how this works on Miracast as the t300 find's the upstairs tv on wifi really quick but takes a while to find the living room tv just 6 feet away. It didn't worked. I made sure file and printer sharing was turned on and then I noticed media sharing was turned off in advanced settings. I will tell you where that is if you can't find it but the laptop is turned off now and I'm going to bed soon. It's somewhere in home network sharing. It still didn't work but I was trying this via wifi direct using chrome as my browser. I went all over chrome settings to find the cast symbol to no avail so thought I would try edge. Ha, the cast symbol is there in settings and managed to cast the screen to the tv. Only problem was it wouldn't play video or any other tab pages. After about an hour of messing about I thought I would try something else as Microsoft don't appear to make certain things easy and see from the forums that lots of other people appear to have had problems in windows 10 in being able to cast. No doubt down to a million protocols need to be sorted to do a simple task. Here is the solution.
Download Google Chrome
Go to extensions
Search Miracast
Download Google Cast
It will appear next to the setting icon in chrome
Hit the cast button select your tv and enjoy
You will possibly have to add your tv in add devices. You may need to turn on media sharing
Why oh why those sooooooo clever people at Microsoft make something so flippin complicated is beyond me. A couple of months ago I bought a cheap Lenovo android tablet. Switched it on, entered my details, tried the Youtube app, pressed the cast screen button and selected my tv and was watching Youtube in about 3 minutes. This particular escapade is what really hacks me off about windows. Android and IOS is so simple in comparison and still works !! My guess is there will be a decent app in the microsoft store for something similar to youtube which will have a cast facility. At least I found a way to do it in chrome. I didn't really buy my laptop for apps so don't know much about them but it maybe worth having a look. They may have a long way to go to catch up to android and apple.
One thing I did notice was the quality streamed from the t300 was not as good as the quality streamed from my android tab or direct from the smart tv which was a bit disappointing really.

Have you upgraded your t300 to the latest version of windows 10. I will be honest I haven't tried mine but it looks like there are others with the same issue. I will try mine tonight. Yes too right, that £24.99 credit offer on the laptop deal should according to their t+c apply to this machine, it met the pricing criteria and was in the laptop category. I'll definitely be chasing that up if it doesn't come in. It is essentially a laptop even though its a damn good tablet too! Typing on mine now, an excellent machine for the money id say, (although its not worth close to Asus original RRP)

Thanks for the heads up. I checked my account yesterday and noticed it said I had to pay £3.99 before the 27th May and then they sent me a text today saying my statement was available to view online. Now I am not sure how Very works but my guess is if you don't pay them this nominal amount their bnpl interest free could turn out to cost a whole lot more. I double checked my order to make sure the bnpl was on.
All of you who bought one of these it maybe a good idea to log into your account and pay at least £3.99 now. I haven't got the time to read their terms and conditions but by not paying the amount requested by the due date could be deemed as a breach of contract and it could also affect your credit rating. Going to pay my £3.99 now, make sure all of you who bought buy now pay later do it soon.

Just a quick heads up for folks that ordered this on the 12 months interest free option. I've just notice on my very account that "Delivery and installation charges are not included in Buy Now Pay Later." I was almost caught out by this as the £3.99 is due before the end of the month, so I just logged on and paid that amount. The £249.99 for the laptop is fine on interest free for the rest of the 12 months tho ofcourse.

No sweat Pablo. Fingers crossed for you. I also gave the trackpad a clean with regular furniture polish after and dried it with kitchen roll using a reasonable amount of pressure. Whatever it is, it's really stubborn to remove.
For anyone playing games on this by the way, I highly recommend creating a custom resolution within Intel Graphics Settings. Two resolutions actually, 1024x576 and 960x540, both at 60hz. 960x540 can actually end up looking better (exact 2:1 integers) but it isn't supported by every game. Chances are 1024x576 is though and both match the 1.778 aspect. You're still going to be CPU bound in many titles, but you'd be surprised what runs at 30-60fps at the lower res. 1280x720 is just too taxing on the iGPU once thermal throttling kicks in.

Good news! I thoroughly cleaned the trackpad with isopropyl alcohol and as if by magic, things seem to be working. Definitely not the best trackpad (the rate of acceleration is inconsistent). but the crazy jitter and misfiring has stopped. There must have been some strange residue left on it from the factory; regular cleaning products made no difference at all. Really pleased, definitely worth trying if anyone else is having issues.

I guess so, but i suppose you can always try, when i was on the phone, they spent about 10 mins keeping me on the line since they were filling out a refund form or something like that (though I'm pretty sure the rep wasn't 100% sure what she was doing since she had to go ask) . They said it'd take up to 17 days (iirc). Checked my account earlier and had a £20 refund on the 5th. Hope it works out for you!

8 May 16#203
I think they won't do the refund now becuase it's gone up in price. if you ask for a credit for the difference they will look at the current listed price and then give you the credit or not as each adviser is different.

I'm extremely happy with mine as well, the quality on this is exceptional, processor is fast and silent! I didn't find there to be too much bloatware though, these 'free' apps can be easily uninstalled just in the start menu itself, easy enough
A really nice surprise though, I received a £20 refund back on my card, came through a couple of days ago. I only just saw it now. I called when the price changed at £229.99, I didn't think I'd get the refund since the customer rep I was speaking to didn't seem so reliable. Perhaps you might be able to get a refund too, worth giving them a call, i've linked the screenshot showing the price and the date, hope it helps.

The battery indicator kept going up on mine lol. I guess that's when it's working on something and then not perhaps. I got about 4 hours out of mine yesterday after doing the same as you and downloading windows updates + the later edition of windows 10 and it was about 30% when it started to install the update and plugged it back in. I reckon depending on what you are watching or doing it will go for a good 6 maybe 7 hours. I wll give it a further test over the weekend.
Am extremely delighted with mine so far. I see it has 365 office too but only free for a month. Just wondering whether to download windows 10 using media creation and then creating a usb recovery disc. When I did this last time on my miix 3 it installed a fresh install of windows without any bloatware from the manufacturer.

Have been using the tablet portion for about 4 hours now, had watched some youtube videos, listened to some music + streaming, but mostly work with pdfs and word and google chrome, with screen brightness 25%, wifi on, bluetooth off. Showing I still have 3 hrs 44mins/50% left (I know it's inaccurate). I do recommend when not using the keyboard portion, to remember to switch off bluetooth, as that will use up a lot of battery. I have my battery setting on Balanced, but will most likely leave it on power saving in the future, since I won't be gaming on this machine at all, and web browsing doesn't seem to slow.

1. I don't seem to have that issue for some reason, not too sure how to alter that either
2. Open up Asus Smart Gesture control, and you can change it by ticking 'content moves in the other direction with swipe'

I'm going to play around with it some more this weekend and see if anything can be done. Such a shame, it's otherwise rather good. In case it's of use to anyone, changing the Intel graphics settings to maximum battery life and enabling display power saving technology, disabling auto brightness in Windows display settings, using a fixed value of 25% brightness and finally setting windows power management to power saver gets you comfortably 7 hours for most scenarios other than gaming. As a tablet it's excellent.

A couple of issues so far which someone may be able to sort out.
1. If I want to open up certain multiple windows it puts the newest window behind the current one. I have never seen this happen in windows before. For example. Go to settings, then Devices, Mouse & Touchpad.......these are obviously all from the same window.....then click additional mouse options, it then opens up the mouse properties windows BEHIND the settings box. This is most annoying and wrong.
2. The scroll on the trackpad is inverted. This was the same on my miix but I could alter it. For example when I want to scroll down a page I prefer to drag my finger from top to bottom in the direction of travel of scrolling of the page. On the Asus it's the opposite and to scroll down a page you push your finger from the bottom of the trackpad upwards. My Lenovo android tab was set this way also. To me it's wrong.
Smartguy1
7 May 16#193
Ok so I got to try mine out tonight for the first time properly. Track pad is a bit fast. Turned pointer speed down to slow, about 1/3 and it's fine. Turned scroll lines to lowest it will go. Set pointer to magnified system scheme as I like big pointers. It seems ok for the money and an improvement over my Lenovo Miix 3.
Overall experience of the extra 2" screen is nice in comparison however the resolution is no real improvement over the miix when watching HD videos. Don't get me wrong it's very nice but then so is my 1980 x 1200 miix 3. The screen to touch though is very nice in comparison. I love the bigger screen and it does seem like quality compared to the miix which feels a bit grainy.
I had a bit of a scare when switching it on for the first time as the keyboard wouldn't connect and I got this little voice saying please call Asus, please call Asus. I was thinking now come on, let me try connecting it manually before warning me something is wrong. I ignored the warning and set it up in tablet form and then connected the keyboard manually. I have not used a bluetooth keyboard before and its not bad tbh. Not the same quality as my macbook but it's on par with the miix for feel but so much better with it being wider.
Had it on for about 3 hours now and its just updating to the latest version of 10. Showing 4 hours left so that's pretty good. I been using it most of that time too so 7 hours is looking good for me.
Overall the laptop is very nice. I would say it's not worth it's £600.00 price tag or whatever it was when it was introduced but for £225.00 I am very impressed. I have noticed that Google Chrome takes a while to open when compared to having Google set as start page using Edge. Access for all other things seems very quick and a big improvement over the miix.
Settings wise, as I am a bit older I have icons set to large and all menu boxes set to font 11 from default 9 and increased scale to 150% which is 25% above recommended. Everything works well.

I had the jitter but uninstalling some stuff seems to have fixed it, dropbox and the wildtangent apps were the last 2 I removed before the touchpad went nice and smooth so try removing those.
oh and I also gave the touchpad a gentle clean so it could also have been that.
markiemarcus
6 May 16#190
I did yes, turning the sensitivity down to about 1/4 somewhat alleviates the issue but the cursor still frequently jumps a few inches across the screen for no apparent reason. The Asus Gesture tool in the system tray even sporadically showed multiple touch inputs simultaneously on trackpad, which is impossible given how I was using it.
Goodness, if this is considered normal then people have probably dodged a bullet; I found it to be completely unusable. Even 5 year old cheapo laptops have better touchpads. I do think mine is defective though. Seems wayyyy too broken.

You do have to pay more, but it hasn't been taking chances, it's been a matter of time before the issues happen, in this case, before I could even power it on. Then it's a case of the issues piling up before you have to buy another. If you bought a Mac or iOS device, you'll prob save money by having to buy less often.

I have a Mac as my main laptop. The boys at Microsoft really need to go out and buy some macs and have a look at their OS. Windows is a complete mess of making things ultra complicated. I am sure they have their reasons. Apple OS is less complicated, not plagued with viruses or updates which seem to takes ages to download from Microsoft and updates must be one of the biggest pains of all. In fact at work we have it turned off and just have a professional anti-virus and firewall. No clogging of system files although this may be linked to having professional editions of windows 7. However, after using Pages and Numbers on the Mac, which have some different features, some pretty good, pages and numbers is awful when compared with word and excel. Yes I know you can use open office and others but for me in my job I just couldn't survive using Apple's version of these.
In an ideal world I would have Apple hardware. It's just so much more refined than companies who make laptops for windows but yes, at a price. A Mac operating system because it's just more simple, doesn't want to update every five minutes taking ages and Mac's don't slow down with age. But I would definitely need Microsoft Office. The boys and girls who wrote office really know their stuff and excel is just an amazing tool. it's just so much better than Apple's version which is probably one of the reasons why we now have Microsoft Office for mac. If you don't need office or other programmes then just buy an android device as they are so simple and easily fixed. Windows 10 would appear to be a step forward but time will tell if that system too, slows with age and usage.
Anyway must dash, I got a t300 to update. See you in about 4 hours lol.

Excel is the best thing Microsoft has done. Mac OS is much better than Windows but I have had some issues with it. It is definitely more reliable.

.
For a long time I have thought that Microsoft should make Windows a free, open source operating system and just concentrate on developing and selling applications (such as Office) for it. The current modus operandi really doesn't seem to work particularly well for end users, and I can only see it hastening the eventual transition to Linux. I am still quite shocked that anti-trust legislation hasn't been used to force Microsoft to split the operating system and applications deivisions into separate companies anyway.
Yes, that's a good point. Apple OS upgrades are free, as is Google Android. However, Microsoft appear to have a different view until the launch of win 10 even if it's only free for a year. As most people who can have either upgraded then why only free for a year. Seems ridiculous to me. All new machines now are coming with 10 anyway so why not just make it free forever. In the workplace however we have no plans to upgrade from win 7. Possibly the same scenario that companies did not want to upgrade from XP. The crazy thing about the high prices of windows OS is that you can download any system of operating system you desire and the licence keys are obtainable too. Stop the pirating by making it free or charging a small fee and having the licence key locked to a motherboard on most pc's and laptops is just madness.
I think the success of Apple though isn't down to the macbook or imac. It's down to its ipod, iphone and then the ipad. High prices yes but look at the quality. Saying that I wouldn't have an iphone or ipad as I prefer android. I nearly went the iphone route with my first smartphone but got android instead and stuck with it. Although high end phones now are about the same cost as an iphone a decent android tab is about half the price of an ipad. Its horses for courses but I still have my 7 year old 17" macbook pro running an old intel processor and 8gb ram that will still knock the socks off a lot of laptops today. Yes it was a lot of money but its still got life left in yet. It also runs windows 7 using VMware Fusion.
I have never tried Linux.

Ok I can't edit my message above in the app.
Did you speak to very or asus? I spoke to very with the same problem and they told me to return it. Will try asus. Didn't realise all very customer service is based in South Africa.
Arghh this is why I don't like dealing with Windows products at all. It's a lottery if you get one, then something might be missing or incorrect, then it runs Windows, then you need to deal with virus scanners and annoying updates, worry about some app wreaking your registry, then it slows down, then it loses value so quickly. With Windows you spend more time getting it right so you can actually work or play.
With an iPad it's just so straight forward, great apps, I've never had any issue with the product, if you do, just go into the store and they give you a new one. Sorted.

Sorry to hear that mate. We've all been there, you feel really gutted because it's not your fault at all, you did everything you were suppose to do. It's happen to me a few times, but I've always found a similar deal within no time. The deals are there if you are looking, this one just caught your eye more than the others at this time. They'll be similar or better deals coming up with better processors ram etc.

I happened to have an old bag at the back of a cupboard which this fits in perfectly (a very snug perfectly). It slides in relitavely easily and isnt going to be rattling around.
If you are after a bag rather than a sleeve then its a good option. Its well padded, feels like good quality and has loads of space for keeping bits & bobs like the power cable, usb adapter, the pen & the bluetooth mouse that most of us are likely to buy!
Ok so wifey finally went off to bed and got a chance to open the box. Outside box was dented after I opened the bag so took a few photos. No need to worry as it was all ok. Everything in the box including a stylus with a battery ?? Not seen one of those before so hope someone will enlighten me. Thought I would charge it up first so not switched it on yet and its getting late. It looks very nice for the money and about the same weight as my Lenovo Miix3 with 2" extra screen.
My only concern is the hinge mechanism and how it will wear in time. Looks like I got a few busy nights ahead of me transferring everything over from the miix.
I feel sorry for you guys who missed out. Can anyone recommend a case for one of these.

It's true the sound isn't great, but i'm used to all devices not using proper speakers to sound terrible. I don't really expect any laptop/tablet to ever sound good, so i'm ok with that, besides, earphones seems the way to go. Yeah, the trackpad isn't great, but that's why we have a touch screen  grab a cheap capacitive touch screen pen (they go for like 50p on ebay I think) then scrolling is a breeze! The screen is amazing though, you have to give it that  or maybe i'm easily pleased..
Edit: What battery results have you got so far, I've not used this for long enough to find out.

Did your order ever get processed (did you get an email to confirm your order) I made an order on an old account, and tried to order that with paypal, and it didn't go through, I only knew it didn't go through because I rang up to cancel as I wanted to make a new account to get the higher cashback rate. Found out that the order had been rejected without any notice of it from them. Even the representative had no idea why it was rejected, just that it was.
So only then did I make a new account and make a new order through my credit card. Basically, Very sucks

Nope - no contact. Should have been delivered today. When I checked on their site, my balance had been returned to its starting point and when I checked on recent orders, it shows as item no longer available. So I've just set up a credit agreement with a firm who have shown no customer commitment, reneged on an agreement, and couldn't be a*sed to inform me. I will obviously be availing myself of their services in the near and distant future. Well done to those who managed to grab one of these, looks like you got yourselves a bargain. if you are looking for a case or some screen protectors for it ..........

Really sorry you guys didnt get hold of one, maybe you will be glad when those of us that did are back on here in a couple of months moaning about our cracked screens
I'm reasonably happy with what I've got (for the money I paid).
Had read lots of reviews which highlighted its problems and in the flesh I agree with them.
The sound is very low (that was a common complaint in reviews) and if anything the battery life seems worse than I had anticipated. (Hoping thats just because I've been installing allsorts since I was allowed to get my hands on it.
The trackpad is too wee for my fat fingers so I think a bluetooth mouse will have to be added to the overall cost !!
I think I will be ditching my Samsung Tab S 10.5. Although I love android I just think this will get a lot more use, I dont like surfing the web using a touchscreen, much prefer a mouse & the extra 2" screen size over my tablet doesnt do any harm either.

ebuyer are selling the same model (I dont think they were a few days ago).
I feel real bad now about saying I ordered mine accidentally and then tried to immediately cancel and couldn't. That will teach me to use my tablet to order stuff on. I thought I was going onto then next screen / confirm screen but I placed the order. I think they had sold about 60 units at that point. Then I saw the scaremongering on the broken screens and thought I will ring them and cancel it. Like I said in my previous post there are people complaining about spontaneous cracking of screens on all sorts of tablets, not just Asus. I never did make that call and actually quite excited about mine being delivered tomorrow. Hope they don't put it in my dustbin as its waste collection day tomorrow and I'm at work. Personally I will never be without an android tablet. I have the Lenovo Tab 2 10" with the 1920 x 1200 screen resolution. Not as good as your Tab S but at £104.50 from Tesco (I had £14.50 vouchers) it has been an amazing buy. I like it a lot and use it every day and amazed with the quality for so little money. My little granddaughter likes it too which was one of the reason I bought it. Wife uses it too and sooooo much easier sending viber messages using a tab than on my phone. Maybe I should get a 3G tablet next and ditch the phone lol.

Ideally I wanted the miix 3 for car diagnostics. For our cars I use the Delphi DS150E which has replaced my ELM327. That's probably not going to mean a lot to you unless you do your own car diagnostics. Anyway, both these run perfect on windows 10. However my son has a Vauxhall. I know, I told him not to buy one but he liked the big wheels and blacked out windows. For that it needs to have Op-com to read the cars ECU. I couldn't get this to run at all on windows 10. I think its because it's a 32-bit operating system. I know my way around pc's and despite what all the forums were saying no way would it work. As I knew it worked on windows 7 I did this.
Loaded a fresh install of windows 10 to clear out all the crap I had put on it.
Installed VMware Workstation. I think this was version 6. Can't remember now but I will find it if you want it.
Installed Windows 7 starter / basic. I had to install this version because of drive space. Had just under 6gb left after doing this.
Everything works a treat and was real happy with myself and then I sees the deal for the t300........Problem with the miix is that I just find it a bit too small and the way that windows works is even when scaling up the text boxes etc the windows title bars are really small for my old eyes. I know you can get around this by turning the resolution down but what's the point of having 1920 x 1200 resolution if you are not going to use it. Hopefully at 12.5" it will be better. My sister has an old Acer laptop which just seemed a better screen experience. I have a 10" android tablet and have no issues with that.
I bought the miix on a bit of a whim last year from JL and have had great fun with it putting all the different software on it and getting it all working but just want something a bit better. Just really **** about the single usb though but nothing is perfect. Saying that though the new ipad looks very interesting. More like a computer than a tablet and if you can put windows on that then best of both worlds. My main pc is a macbook pro but its getting a bit tired now. Runs hot when watching videos and hard drive making a pinging noise. That runs windows too via VMware Fusion.

Not sure what to do with mine now as I definitely will need more than one usb port. That's a big mistake by Asus not making it a proper usb. I live in fear every time I plug my phone in to charge that I get the micro usb lead the wrong war round and some point am going to break it. Nice upgrade. Skylake, Two USB C on the tablet, one which charges so chargers will be everywhere. But the keyboard takes it further. 2 standard usbs, 2.0/3.0. Backlit keys, built in battery to make it last up to 15 hours. Like mentioned above, fixes everything. Cost 700 euros ie twice as much.

The price point it comes in at will be interesting.....
16:9 12.5" 2560x1440 or 1920x1080 Screen with 72% NTSC Gamut
up to 15 hr battery life (two 38Wh batteries in tablet and keyboard each)
750 g light (Tablet only, plus 700g for the dock)
8.05 mm thin (Tablet only, plus 10.5 mm for the dock)
Skylake Intel Core m3-6Y30 or m7-6Y75 CPU
4GB or 8GB Ram
up to 512GB m.2 SATA SSD
Ports on Tablet: 2x USB-C 3.1 Gen 1 (5 Gb/s, no Thunderbolt 3), 3.5mm jack
Ports on Keyboard dock: 1x USB-A 2.0, 1x USB-A 3.0

The cracking issue must be keyboard related, applying too much pressure reading from the forums.

She said no guarantee it will go through but worth a try - I'll either end up with paying £20 less or get the £25 cashback so six & half a dozen either way :-).

That is strange, given how quickly these sold out I'm surprised that Very would have felt the need to reduce the price further.
I suspect its just a glitchy type thing.
What I'm wondering is would those who have an order placed be able to call up and have the price changed to the £229.99 (£20 refund) ??
It would of course then be priced too low to qualify for the 10% cashback but I would rather have £20 in the hand than £25 Very credit...

If the screen just suddenly cracked whilst the tablets in your hand then i would contact Very and let them offer some sort of solution. In my experiance they would first give you the number for the manufacture so they can repair it. There has been occastions where i would speak to the manufature and ask for an repair referance number or something similer and give it to the Very customer service and they would arrange a return which they don't like to do very often. If the screen does crack and Asus refuse rapair which I doubt they would then contact Very as they also can decide what to do as I have been told in the past the items would have to be sent in for inspection and then refuded.
This reminds me of a TV I ordered but hated so much that I called to return but was told the same rubbish as always 'Non returnable under our Approval Guarantee, once installed or connected. Your statutory rights are not affected.'
For some reason I was give the number of the so called manufacturer but actually was shopdirect and told them the TV is pants (not literally) and they said OK here is the return reference number and called customer service and yup it was collected and credited.
Cheers for the post. In law your contract is with the seller, i.e. Very but sometimes it is worth going to the manufacturer direct. I bought an LG G4 through Virgin and it developed a fault like a lot of G4's with the dreaded boot loop and motherboard failure. Contacted Virgin and they collected the phone, then told me my phone couldn't be repaired and offered me an S6 which I refused. I got in touch with LG who offered to repair my phone under warranty and asked Virgin to send me it back which they did. Just under two weeks later got my phone back with a new motherboard fitted. In this case it paid me to go to the manufacturer as I didn't want Virgin's replacement. LG though could have told me they had no legal contract with me. My guess is that they wanted to repair the phone instead of losing a customer to Samsung.
With reference to the t300 if there is a fault there are also additional consumer rights as I bought mine on Very's buy now pay later so the credit company can help if there is an issue with the seller. It's complicated but my son has a law degree so if I get stuck I know who to ring. Hopefully none of this will happen because the laptop will be just fine. I have been looking for a laptop/tablet preferably 11.6", 64gb, decent processor and 1920 x 1080 for a while now. This is the first one I have seen that's a decent price as they are all mainly 32gb or have a carp processor. The miix is ok but I find it a bit small, mainly title bars which you can't alter the size of without lowering the resolution. It's not got enough space either and the software I have on it cannot be run off portable memory. I will see how I get on with mine. Personally I don't think it's an issue and don't think they are all likely to crack. With all of these things there will be a small percentage that will be faulty in one respect or another. Asus have been making parts for a lot of different manufacturers for years. When I get mine the first thing it will get will be a fresh install of windows 10. Hopefully that will sort any software issues and should get rid of any bloatware. I have not bought an Asus product before but judging from some of the genuine comments on here for the t100 I can't foresee any problems. Just wondering how to tell the wife I accidentally bought it. If I sell my miix 3 she probably won't even tell.

The reports on the cracked screen issue was a bit worrying so then I did a quick google for other brands and the same issues appear with them also. So this is either true for Asus and other brands or it is scaremongering. On the forums I read from the link posted one here there are about four pages with maybe 15 or so people complaining their screen had cracked through no reason. After doing a bit of research on Google it would appear the same with Lenovo Yoga 2, Galaxy S6, S5, S4 yes I know they are phones, nexus 7, Surface Pro. I got bored so didn't try anymore but it would appear that spontaneous cracking of screens isn't just down to Asus.
Now if you are like me and still read the computer section even though you wasn't really looking for a new tablet or laptop then surely there must be loads out there who have the Transformer T100 or bought it and sold it on. I can't see any post from anyone on here saying they had any cracked screen issues. I nearly bought it but bought the miix 3 instead. I was nearly put off this laptop by the screen issue but it looks like it is no bigger risk than anything else on the market. Reading the reviews on amazon for the t100 I found about 6 people out of the 6 pages of 1 star reviews who had issues with cracked screens. Two of those people admitted they had dropped them. The main issue with the t100 would appear to be flex in the plastic. The t300 has an aluminium body so should be stronger.
What amazes me is the amount of people who abuse their tech. You only need to look at the second stuff on ebay or in CEX or Game. If you were buying something from me it would be in mint condition but then I was taught to look after my stuff. I have seen people pick laptops up by the screen or leave them and tablets or phones on the floor when they kids or dogs running around or leave them on the edges of sofas just waiting to be bounced off. That's no way to treat your stuff and then the same people wonder why they have a cracked screen a week or so later. A guy at work broke his screen on his phone the other day. He broke it because it was on the floor near his tv unit. He was rummaging through a drawer looking for a lead and dropped a plug on his phone that was tangled up with the lead. Unlucky yes but his phone shouldn't have been on the floor. I am taking delivery of my t300 on Wednesday. If I get a broken screen it will be because there is an inherent fault but my guess is it will be just fine.

Agreed, an asus netbook (obviously now retired) I've had for the last 7 years or so is still in mint condition, i cringe when i see people mistreating their tech..
The only difference i can see with the asus having is that it has a very strong magnet, but a very thin frame, add to that a bit of roughness when detaching the tablet, i can see why this actually might be a problem, and cracks may be more frequent. We'll just have see when they arrive!

That's true, it's just how willing companies are to pay out, some home insurance also offers accidental damage on devices too, so so it's always good to check to see what you have before shelling out for the insurance.
Yeah, the ones on Amazon are all/majority plastic screen protectors, all accosting ~£15 anyways, so £15 for a tempered glass protector seemed a better deal. Tempered glass is usually quite expensive, so for a 12.5" device, £15 doesn't seem too bad.

£25 excess.
Tomb
1 May 16#77
Nope never used them. There are a fair few companies offering similar insurance on Topcasback - I only tried 2 so it may be even cheaper elsewhere. (although I think under 50p per week for protection seems reasonable - if you take out a 1 year policy).
£15 seems a lot of money for a single screen protector & I'm not sure it would stop any cracking of the screen as described on that forum.
If anyone buys this and decides its not for them I will happily take it off your hands!

The reviews that state 5 hours of battery life is for the higher resolution model with 8gb ram. With this model, 1080p and slightly slower processor, it goes to around 7 hours. Though the cracks are worrying..

Just been having a quick look and it is possible to insure it against accidental damage for £27.92 for 12 months...( Minus £5.50 Topcashback making it £22.92). https://www.gadget-cover.com/lp-msm
If people do decide to keep it the that £27 investment might make using it a bit more enjoyable rather than worrying about how you handle it all the time.

Great deal. But word of warning be careful with Asus tablets. They've all had power issues and touchscreen issues in the past (you can check amazon reviews for t103 and t100s or just google).
I've decided to avoid Asus tablets for the time being due to being burned twice now.

Like the tablet looks but think there are too many negatives on it such as the poor battery life, heavy for its size, saturated screen colours and the fact that if you wanted to use a wireless mouse you would need to attach an extra usb to micro adapter sticking out on the side and who wants that. And yes that is important because many reviews say the trackpad is unreliable and unprecise. Overall, the tablet is still overpriced and unpopular because of the above cons so not for me. I'm out.

Looks like Argos and others are selling or trying to sell this laptop for a whole lot more. The 8gb version T300 chi on Argos is £629.99 !!!!!! and memory is quite cheap now.

Here we go with Very customer "service".....:disappointed:
Somehow I managed to get it worked last night as well, what I did was to update the network adapter driver by myself, not from the automatically windows update. It worked like a charm but the sound from the TV was crap like, it maybe the case that my router is far away, will use the Wifi extender and have another go.
Personally I think it does but I could not get it connected to my sony smart TV for some reason

For all of you who bought it on bnpl don't forget to pay the £3.99 postage.
All of you who bought one of these it maybe a good idea to log into your account and pay at least £3.99 now. Going to pay my £3.99 now, make sure all of you who bought buy now pay later do it soon.
Am extremely delighted with mine so far. I see it has 365 office too but only free for a month. Just wondering whether to download windows 10 using media creation and then creating a usb recovery disc. When I did this last time on my miix 3 it installed a fresh install of windows without any bloatware from the manufacturer.
Thanks for that. Been looking everywhere for where that was on my miix3. Sorted now and I googled the other issue of new windows appearing behind the existing one.
Open any folder and select Tools>Folder Options>View> and check the "Launch folder windows in a separate process" check box. Click apply all folders.
2. Open up Asus Smart Gesture control, and you can change it by ticking 'content moves in the other direction with swipe'
Everything works well.
oh and I also gave the touchpad a gentle clean so it could also have been that.
Goodness, if this is considered normal then people have probably dodged a bullet; I found it to be completely unusable. Even 5 year old cheapo laptops have better touchpads. I do think mine is defective though. Seems wayyyy too broken.
So for anyone who missed out, take solace in my misery right now haha.

These days what I need to do in office is far more basic than before that even the iPads version of office, which while basic is actually really great, does well.
At least you can update yours, mine is currently a paperweight!
Also did yours come charged?
Yeah agreed, I suppose it depends on the person but paying up front is worth it if lasts years problem free and then has a higher selling price if selling.
What do you find you can do on Windows that you can't do on iPad? For me there is little these days.
The Very customer service helpline is unbelievably bad.
While I get what you mean about Apple products you do in fairness pay up front for that hassle free environment. I also think this particular product is way more useful than an iPad from a productivity point of view.
Sorted.
If you are after a bag rather than a sleeve then its a good option. Its well padded, feels like good quality and has loads of space for keeping bits & bobs like the power cable, usb adapter, the pen & the bluetooth mouse that most of us are likely to buy!
Its one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Belkin-Netbook-Messenger-kit-12-1-/322088530203?hash=item4afdf8f11b:g:494AAOSwoudW3CRX
Going by the product number (& it says 12.1" on the ebay listing photo) this is the same one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Belkin-Netbook-Messenger-Kit-F5Z0161EA-/170839718055?hash=item27c6d738a7:g:UVAAAOxyHIlTX3Tz
There are a few more on ebay so may be able to find it cheaper.
There are none on Amazon but here is the product with loads of reviews https://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-Neoprene-Messenger-Upto-Netbooks/dp/B001JQMG8S
My only concern is the hinge mechanism and how it will wear in time. Looks like I got a few busy nights ahead of me transferring everything over from the miix.
I feel sorry for you guys who missed out. Can anyone recommend a case for one of these.
Edit: What battery results have you got so far, I've not used this for long enough to find out.
So only then did I make a new account and make a new order through my credit card. Basically, Very sucks
Got to go..... its walkies time !!!
Came with stylus and 2 USB port adapter.
No cover but there is a cloth!!
Won't be able to play with it for a bit cos my wife spotted it and I'm in the doghouse (again).
but the end of the power adapter was not in the box :disappointed:
Very are arranging a replacement part, but it'll be 2-3 days
weird as it is a factory sealed item. anyone else missing bits from theirs?
Current price from them is £379.98.. http://www.ebuyer.com/703913-asus-t300chi-ms-transformer-book-t300chi-ms-fl097h?gclid=CPSk5rKKv8wCFewW0wodmh0ALA#fo_c=951&fo_k=046e368180369dc7fdbb9d633d0ad1fe&fo_s=gplauk?mkwid=s_dc&pcrid=51467863979&pkw=&pmt=
They also have the one with higher spec screen for £480.99.. http://www.ebuyer.com/711773-asus-transformer-book-t300-chi-t300chi-fh096h
I dont think I will be able to justify to her why we need my Tab S 10.5 (which I only got in December) and this so it may have to go.
I'll keep them both for a couple of weeks & make sure I'm happy with the T300 before I bite the bullet and advertise the Tab S 10.5 :disappointed:
All good - just hope the laptop/tablet is as well :-)
Good luck to everyone
I wonder if I'll soon be getting a wee "tough luck" email from Very??

(Or madam.)
I looked at the new price an thought what?! Again?!
I called & the advisor has put through a price adjustment request.
She said no guarantee it will go through but worth a try - I'll either end up with paying £20 less or get the £25 cashback so six & half a dozen either way :-).
Answers on a postcard.
Only down side with the Asus is it hasn't got a proper size USB socket but can live with a micro usb and adapter.
Well the OP says USB hub and stylus was included with his so will have to see on ours.

The only difference i can see with the asus having is that it has a very strong magnet, but a very thin frame, add to that a bit of roughness when detaching the tablet, i can see why this actually might be a problem, and cracks may be more frequent. We'll just have see when they arrive!
Yeah, the ones on Amazon are all/majority plastic screen protectors, all accosting ~£15 anyways, so £15 for a tempered glass protector seemed a better deal. Tempered glass is usually quite expensive, so for a 12.5" device, £15 doesn't seem too bad.
£15 seems a lot of money for a single screen protector & I'm not sure it would stop any cracking of the screen as described on that forum.
There are a few on Amazon... https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=t300+chi+screen+tempered&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3At300+chi+screen+tempered
If people do decide to keep it the that £27 investment might make using it a bit more enjoyable rather than worrying about how you handle it all the time.
I've decided to avoid Asus tablets for the time being due to being burned twice now.
8-)
I've got gadget insurance through my bank account and it definitely great for peace of mind in case of something like that happening.
Mind you i thought some laptops had smart chargers and would only work with the original charger
Or........... http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/powertraveller-powergorilla-multi-voltage-portable-charger-49-99-amazon-2437220
In spite of my misgivings about this device I think the excellent price outweighs them so I've pulled the trigger.
My main "misgiving" is the battery life & I'm trying to figure out a solution.
Given that the tablet component power cable is propriatory how would I be able to use a "power bank" type of charger as backup when on the move?
even if you take verys insurance, cracked screen will be classed as accidental damage and maybe not covered.
its a great price for a nice product, but the cracked screen reports put me off.
maybe some cheap accidental insurance would be worth getting
The Keyboard is essentially a bit of plastic, ca't be worth hardly anything. so It is a £253 tablet. I will stop moaning anyway.

It does say in my earlier post what the benchmark test is. The result for the processor you mention is as below. Not much in it tbh.
