My welfare exceeds that of a chicken. I'd love to eat organic food and fairtrade everything but money trumps everything when on a budget..

good price, but, have you ever cut open one of these type of products half cooked? they're filled with some pink gel that only takes on the appearance of meat once fully cooked, I'm no food prude but I was shocked. still ate them mind

These are gross, I bought some by mistake, they are like some kind of cheap catering rubbish.

I don't see the problem with them. It taste like the same sort stuff i use to eat as a kid so I'm not bothered what they made off. At that price its also a bargain which is the point of this site not to slate that product

unless you're a broke student you shouldn't be eating this.
I suppose this is a good price for the product, but i'm voting cold because the "meat" will be appalling quality and the welfare standards of the animals will be similarly terrible. While you may say if I don't want to buy it don't vote but the only way to help improve the welfare standards is to "vote with your wallet", and encourage others to do the same.

Mmmm do i spend 5 pound on 10 corn fed chicken nuggets or do i spend 50p on 28 cheaper ones??? The mind boggles. I cant afford to be picky either if these companys were that bothered about us all buying cheap meat they should try making the good stuff cheaper for us poorer people

no doubt they will be less in size! its actually a hit and miss with the products. birds eye petit pois big bag used to be 136g i think but now 120 odd. but then 800g bag has gone up 60g.
i did notice aswell the nuggets or dippers have reduce the number but the price remains the same.
i am sad and know some of this because i pick frozen items for peoples shopping everyday

I'd say Camerons Britain but it is Osbournes Britain. He is the one shafting the poor and lining the pockets of the rich. My child will eat these no problem so i'll grab a few if I can. Then I can take her for a cheap day out somewhere as a treat. Rough with the smooth.

Are these chopped and formed or whole pieces of chicken breast? I usually avoid Bird Eye stuff cos I had to throw out the last big bag of these or one of the other ones they do as kids would not eat them and I couldnt either. I'd much rather have a loaf of bread as at least I can eat that... and so will one of my kids... funny though they will eat the SFC chicken and so will my fussy 11 year old most times.

I think the phrase "You get what you pay for" springs to mind. I agree that free range stuff is expensive when compared to this, but I think a large proportion of the UK is in a habit of having animal protein with every evening meal. I personally would rather have a good quality free range chicken breast 3/4 nights a week, with veg options the other 3 than have this crap 7 nights a week, but I understand that's a lifestyle choice that isn't for everyone.

Free range chicken is overated. They still have huge barns stuffed with chickens and just a small patch of grass that runs alongside it, from the chickens perspective i'm not sure how much difference that actually makes. In the winter they stay perched indoors where its warm. The price is unjustified imo and the supermarkets themselves milk the whole fad of it all like they do with gluten.. I agree that people should try to eat a veggie meal every week. I think thats the most effective method of improving animal welfare and the environment but even then there's irrigation and pesticides to consider.

Totally agree. Personally it gives me some comfort to know that at least the chickens could go outside and exercise, and imo I do notice a difference in taste but as you rightly point out with pesticides etc nothing is perfect so I just try and do my bit.
