They tend to be much more expensive closer to the coast. Did this last year by touring round for a week. If you have a car, get one slightly inland, then drive to the coast after breakfast, then on to the next one.

Just in case you have not stayed in a TravelLodge recently.. things have changed a lot!
Not *quite* as comfy as the PremierInn beds.. but very close!
The beds have changed but not a lot else. Still miles behind Premierinn in my experience.
However, this is a good deal.

Unfortunately, certain dates at this hotel are excluded from the offer due to high demand. Please accept our apologies but the date you have selected falls into that category. Please try another date or hotel for your stay.
You will be allowed 2 further attempts to enter a correct code, after which this booking session will not accept a discount code.

Some really good ones in and around central London - but some really bad ones too. Do your research on Tripadvisor before booking. And in many cases it's not so much the Travelodge at fault but the people using them. A lot of noise at night in some hotels.

Was about to book two rooms then saw £20 extra per night for a pet, stopped me in my tracks!
trebor to OllieL
15 Apr 16#60
That is understandable due to 'possible' extra cleaning requirements. What is a new Ryanair style scam by Travelodge is the fact that they sometimes charge extra for 3 adults sharing one room BUT allow 2 adults and 2 children to share a room without any extra charge.
Four people in one room would incur more time making beds up and extra bedding & towels to wash, so there is no justification to charge less for fewer people. Furthermore if 3 adults pay for breakfast, they pay about £24. If a family of 4 pay for breakfast, it only costs £16.

Just a tip - this wont work if you book with Amex
But - if you do book with Amex they don't actually take payment until you arrive, so you can cancel up to lunchtime on day of arrival. Handy tip if you need flexibility...
Newbold
15 Apr 16#67
That's very interesting. So they don't take Amex payments at the time of booking? The T&C of Saver reservations would prevent any refunds after booking but this looks like a useful loophole if it works.
silveroracle
15 Apr 16#68
Shame it hadn't been for July.
Could've done with booking a room for Edinburgh.
WillPS
15 Apr 16#69
That's correct. I'm not sure if they even validate the Amex card number you enter - but certainly the transaction is not processed until you check in when they do a full card present chip and PIN authorisation. Just now cancelled a couple of Saver reservations.

Don't worry. In my experience they give the really c**p rooms to the dog owners. These are the rooms that other folk would complain about, the room on the highest floor, furthest from all the other rooms, that usually has something wrong with it (dodgy windows, faulty taps, stained carpet etc) or needs refurbishing. I know, cos there are times when I have to travel and I'm a responsible enough dog owner not to leave my a dog in a car in January. I'm grateful there are a few hotels that take dogs...even the c**p rooms

The last 2 Travelodge's we stayed in were dirty with outdated bathrooms.
Blood on the undersheet / toilet dirty & bathroom not cleaned properly in a very long time.
Bedside lamps looked as if they had never been cleaned, same went for the kettle.
This was all at the one in view of the Dartford crossing (Kent side) and the one on the A2/M2 at Chatam was not a lot better, both times "some" money was refunded but never again for us.
Also if you have a complain trying to get hold of anyone online / phone is like getting blood out of a stone.
