Again, another deal for the Xiaomi Redmi 3. I just got mine on Tuesday (from Banggood). It took approximately 2 weeks with the free shipping (only shipping method they have for now) and I didn't have to pay any fees. It came with Google Play installed.
The battery so far is amazing and the phone feels great in my hands.
Other colors are available on the website, a bit more expensive.

I have read a number of warnings about the frequency compatibility "Compatible networks include 2G GSM, 3G WCDMA, and 4G FDD-LTE on LTE bands 1(2100), 3(1800), 7(2600), 38(2600), 39(1900), 40(2300), 41(2500). The full specifications list can be found on the official Xiaomi page and buyers of any international smartphone should check that the bands are compatible with their major networks."
Is this an issue in the uk?

You won't get 4g if you're on the O2 network (so including Tesco etc). The other three networks are fine though!

I like the sound of this version. I also like the look of the mi5 which I understand to be released this week also. Sounds like the mi5 is in very high demand and about £100 more maybe? Where do you think is the best place to order the redmi note pro 3 from ?

It is just released in India for £126 for the 3GB 32GB version so it is annoying that various other websites asking for £200, I am actually thinking of waiting a bit more to see what happens ! I think I rather pay £150 at tops !
I'm going to get one just waiting for the damn global rom before I order.

Yes, that's about what I'm thinking £150ish. I've seen a post showing it at gearbest for £165 which is OK but for standard non tracked post this is a bigger item? Also there is the risk of customs charges, probably low risk but still a risk dependent on carrier, says Dutch post which may reduce risk of being pulled.

Lots of phone for that money. Sadly this is another one of those dual Sim and no sd card or single Sim and SD card. Just doing my head in with that stupidity design :disappointed:
But if dual Sim isn't important it's a good phone.

Basically no warranty with these Chinese phones, even if you could get a return authorised by the Chinese customer services the cost to ship it to China would almost be as much as the phone is worth, plus a couple of months not having the phone whilst its going back and forth to China

Know what you are saying but I take the view that the crazy savings compared to what you can get for the same money here are worth the risks. What %tage of mobiles break down in the first 12 months anyway? Can't imagine it being a high number these days.
agree with you to a certain point on the k3 but some not on some.
you'll probably get better benchmark results on the k3 note but real world day to day usage, im not sure you'd notice much as they both have 2gb ram.
yes the screen is better (more ppi) but......
I'm not convinced that 1080p is 100% needed on a phone. the screen panels and build can be very important, sometimes more so than the ppi. The note 3 is a larger 5.5", so could be considered too large for some (the redmi 3 is far more pocketable).
in addition, i think the point of the redmi 3 is to be a long lasting mid range phone. they could have put 1080p in there, but what they've done is put a very nice 720p screen in there (i have this phone and can confirm the screen is very good), together with a 4000mah battery. this puts the battery life to a whole new level than if it was 1080p (more pixels to push).
lastly, i do think 'decent brand' is completely false. this is xiaomi, one of the biggest brands in the phone market. they're decent.

The Lenovo K3 Note looks interesting for that price, but the right comparison is the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3: http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=7862&idPhone2=7147&idPhone3=7769
I like the smaller Redmi 3 because of (a) small dimensions, (b) great battery life, which is helped by (c) a sensible screen resolution ("only" HD) and (d) a Snapdragon processor.
I find all this craze about larger more ppi screens a bit odd. I have large hands and found anything >70mm wide uncomfortable to handle with one hand. And I probably couldn't take such a large phone out of my pocket whilst sitting.
That said I'm tempted to give a cheap 5.5" phone another try, so the K3 Note or Redmi Note 3 is interesting.

Running mine now for couple of weeks, got it on the £95 deal from Everbuying few weeks back, added a bit more to get the grey and black one plus had to pay duty but at £113 delivered I am not complaining. Took two weeks on the free delivery option.
Google play was pre installed and it's a dream phone comparing with my Nexus 4(which I shifted on the bay for £50). Battery on my usage need charging e erythema 5 days and that's before setting any extra power savings options in the power profiles.
Fast phone as well so happy bunny here.

Just got one of these from DX (took 6 weeks to arrive!). Great phone but be aware that there is currently no official global (English with google play etc) rom available for this phone. Mine came with an unofficial english rom installed and sure enough MalwareBytes found a couple of dodgy things in the system apps (a file dropper and a banking trojan in the MiPay app).
Fairly easy to reflash with clean version of MiUi from xda developers though (if you do this you dont need to unlock the bootloader). Hopefully Mi will release an official version for this phone soon though.
