So, my comment last night was deleted which kind of answered your questions that you responded to me with in that this site, as great as it is for finding a deal, has an awful community of trolls and poor judgement. Basically, you guys can all complain about a company without giving them an opportunity to defend themselves.

The people who post deals and the large majority of the big contributers such as Buzz and Turkey are great, but the comments section just gets worse and worse every year. Hardly any threads are free of complaints or comments and you are all so quick to judge it is unbelievable. I had to sign in last night anonymously as it's been that long since I actually logged in I couldn't remember my password. You will see on this profile I've been here since 2008 though.

I did get an email with the comment:

"First impressions count, and many people like myself will not buy from you if that's what we read."

That's absolutely fine, because it is in force to avoid buyers who have no grasp of how eBay works and whom like to use the resolution center and the feedback system as some form of 'power trip'. The feedback system on eBay is long past its day now and thorough analysis has shown negative feedback has no impact on business sellers, that rule is in there to protect us from unwarranted abuse and unfair claims and I stress again, it was our eBay Account Manager who advised us to put it in there. You seemed to ignore the positive comments I made which I won't repeat in-case again I'm accused of 'Self-Promotion'.

To answer this question, although I appreciate you didn't see what I said last night, I'm sure as an eBay expert as you and everyone else on here appear to be, you will have noticed the fact the shop is currently in holiday mode - hence why it hasn't got any viewable listings.

Again, as you are so good at noticing a 'dodgy' eBay seller that's been on there for years and has a feedback score of 8,000 then I would advise you use the analytics software you must have to look at our sales history. Of the 'larger' small independent game retailers, we are 4th or 5th for total volume every month.

The last thing I just want to say is that personally, I hate ShopTo. I've ordered 4 items for myself in the last 2 years (1 Rakuten, 1 eBay, 2 on site). Not a single one has arrived and getting a refund or explanation has been awful. Rakuten and eBay both had to be escalated, one of which they uploaded a tracking number that didn't even exist. Now, I 'avoid them like the plague' and think they are 'dodgy', but do the rest of you? No? I didn't leave them negative feedback because it's not always necessary. if you would have, then you've explained the reason why the negative feedback rule is in place. There is a definitive character profile to be made from the people that do leave it.

Almost as bad as the sellers that say no returns for any reason.

does the xbox one come with 2 years manufacturers warranty?
Bunglistik to DE4L3R
8 Mar 16 #6
No, it's with the seller, they do say that during the first 12 months they may have to return it to the manufacturer, otherwise it seems that they repair it themselves, also doesn't specify if you're liable for shipping costs.

I have an Xbox one and it has a collect and replace warranty for 12 months only.

So these are not new? It says "Unless stated, all of our consoles are Pre-Owned. This means that all consoles we sell will show some signs of wear which includes scuffs and scratches to the surface."

It states this in the blurb, 'This is a brand new and sealed product'.

Does appear that the warranty is with the seller and not manufacturers though.

Isn't withholding retail warranties due to negative feedback against the eBay feedback rules?

I get that buyers can sometimes get pushy with feedback, but surely doing it right back is just as bad.

I refuse to feed this trolling until someone on here comes and can back it up with more experience on eBay than I have.

danthetaliban
10 Mar 16 1 #28
I don't really get it, i feel like people are taking that clause out of context:

It's simply saying they can't help you solve issues if you've not communicated with them appropriately about it. That seems perfectly fair. Like going to a restaurant and complaining about it on Yelp afterwards vs actually telling them to replace your cold pasta.
Dubplated
11 Mar 16 1 #29
Or like retuning the pasta, getting more cold pasta, leaving a review on yelp but then next time you go getting refused service because of your opinion?
TarmacAce
11 Mar 16 #30
Thank you. At least one person finally gets it. Point is, if people leave negative feedback after we've resolved an issue then fair play. However leaving negative feedback then saying sort this issue out is not good buyer behavior and that is a poor use of the eBay system and says more about the buyer than anything else.

The point is, 9/10 issues customers raise aren't actually something the seller has done. Unless your full-time job is working on eBay you cannot relate to that.

You have all taken the wording out of context on here and paraphrased it poorly to jump on the criticism bandwagon. Nobody has yet said anything about the large retailer I mentioned earlier. Do you see me trolling their deal pages saying they have terrible business practice? As I said, I didn't even get a response from them on two occasions and had to escalate to eBay and Rakuten. That is far worse than what you are trying to say is terrible business practice.

With the greatest of respect, I've got three shops on eBay selling three completely different categories. We've been going for nearly 3 years and if anything, we have more business than we can deal with at times hence having to put it into holiday mode to manage the workload, so we must be doing something right.

I welcome any constructive criticism but unless you can direct me to your shop(s) that show you trade significantly on the site, there is no way I can take what you say seriously. The eBay you know as a consumer or small-scale seller to the higher volume eBay seller are completely different worlds. As is the jump from say our volume to the eStocks kind of level.

12 Mar 16 1 #32
So you created a multiple account to post on here because you don't use the site much and have the nerve to complain peoples (very valid) concerns should be ignored.

Are you sure you're not the seller? Oh wait, you are. Well that really takes the biscuit.

I personally would not use a company who gives a warranty based only if you are nice to them, and think people should ignore posts by members who boast they openly disobey forum protocol and rules and promote other peoples opinions don't count - especially when they are self promoting. Are you a friend of the OP? Just curious how someone who claims never uses this site was able to find this thread. Incredible bit of luck and coincidence don't ya think?
365pizza
12 Mar 16 #33
The warrenty is for 2 years. Feedback for 30 days.

Are you really suggesting people don't leave feedback unless positive? The whole point of feedback to to see good and bad. Threatening buyers warranty is disgraceful and you should be banned from ebay for having that in your sales terms.
DannGo
12 Mar 16 1 #35
I agree with your first two paragraphs.

However, calling the majority (And it is a majority) of people that disagree with your opinion trolls isn't quite right. You said yourself in an earlier comment that the eBay feedback system has no impact on business sellers, yet you make a big deal about customers leaving one.

I've been trading for over 10 years with multiple stores, and I would never dream of putting something as silly as what this seller put in his listings.

You have to accept that negative feedback and abusive customers is just a part of trading. Often for no good reason. The sooner you do, better.
TarmacAce
17 Mar 16 1 #36
Jesus. I don't know why I've bothered coming back on here. Can we please re-read all of what's been said before passing comment because I don't even have the energy to keep replying to all this nonsense when everything has been said.

As already mentioned, eBay told us to put it in there and eBay are still quite happy it being in there. In fact, our listing template was reviewed only two weeks ago by eBay after a buyer complained a console didn't come with a hard drive, despite the first line reading in capital letters 'Please note: There is no hard drive included'.

If an item is genuinely not as described or there is an issue that a seller can hold their hands up to and they don't resolve it properly then yes - it may well be justified. However, people that buy something from say America and say oh this is PAL and I wanted NTSC when it is clearly mentioned in the listing, then leave you bad feedback or raise a case etc. Those are the profile of customer this clause deals with. Stupid people basically. Same as those who don't change their address, but say it is your fault for not confirming it with them before dispatch.

It's for those times when they don't have something they can raise an issue with eBay about (as there is no issue) and so leave negative feedback. I'm all for still resolving the issue in the name of providing great customer service, but if you get abuse hurled at you and negative feedback left when they are clearly and factually in the wrong, then no, that is not 'just part of trading'. That's shows a fundamental lack of understanding of how the eBay system works from a buyer's perspective. The wording in that listing conforms with all eBay policies, including everything related to the eBay Money Back Guarantee & returns management.

Outside of that criteria, everyone has their own take on customer service and throughout my career within store & area level electrical retail and through eBay too, I have gotten and continue to get more positive comments from customers than negative so I think you should all just jump off your high horse about those few little words. If you feel that strongly, then that means if you have an issue, you must be the type to just leave negative feedback without seeking any resolution yes? Well in that case, you should be annoyed as it is there for you as that is a terrible attitude to have towards sellers.

If you all don't agree, then that's fine I do not have a problem with that as I originally said. It is this community that has taken it to a whole new level and actually I've tried to respond reasonably to you all, but when your attitude is 'You are dodgy', 'That's awful retail practice', 'You've clearly only just joined to write this' then it seems hard to get a message across to you all.

Reference has also been made towards the fact I was 'self-promoting' when actually I was doing no such thing. I think there was a response to someone asking about warranty terms which had been falsely responded to by people on here that I made comment on. But if people got their facts right I wouldn't need to. However, there was no need to remove the entire post as it just highlighted the lack of free speech available on here.

Again, nobody seems to responding to my concerns about the large retailer I mentioned though which I find interesting? I'm guessing none of you know anything about them, so therefore they must be up to no good and so I'll go and ring eBay right now and get them removed. Must be a stolen account or something yeah? Not responding to customers is just appalling, especially when there is an issue. Uploading a tracking number that doesn't exist? Fraudulent practice surely?

Nope, clearly not. But writing in your listing if you fail to contact us before leaving negative feedback or if you send us abusive messages then we won't be able to help. Well, best shut him down, lock him up and throw away the key obviously.

Anyway I'm actually done now. I'm going to go back to reading posts anonymously and watch you all fight with each other rather than get involved myself! I might login again in another 3 years or so!

P.S whichever troll signed our email accounts up to spam, well congratulations and good for you. We are re-branding shortly though but we'll enjoy it while it lasts!

Have bought from these guys and will do so again. Really impressed with their customer service too. All they're asking with the negative feedback/not helping line is that they get a fair chance to resolve any issues.

As the old saying goes if you throw enough sh*t then eventually some sticks, they just want to avoid this. They don't say they won't help genuine cases, just give them the chance to before you leave negative feedback. Cant see anything wrong with that.
