Wileyfox Swift 4G LTE, 16GB, 5" Screen, Dual SIM, OS Cyanogen 12.1, £20 CASHBACK

Brand New, Sealed, Offical Wileyfox Partner

Price is £114.99, £20 cashback is claimed as below, making the price £94.99.

The last deal on here for a Wileyfox was £15 more, albeit through Amazon.

Simply buy a Wileyfox Swift and 30 days after your purchase complete the claim form on the Wileyfox website. Terms Apply. *Claim must be made between 30-60 days after purchase. Please retain proof of purchase for claim. Cashback will be credited within 30 days of claim.

It has a 2 year manufacturer's warranty, 2GB RAM, 13MP/5MP cameras, comes network unlocked, dual sim and takes up to a 32GB SD card (some reviews state it can take SDXC so potentially >32GB)

Now £125 and with no cashback

Its a pity as with the 20% off on Ebay deal it would have been £72

Usual marketing ploy. The cashback provides the incentive to buy during the promotional period, whilst also not devaluing the residual cost (and so the product technically retains a higher future resale value).

£95 for a quad-core processor powered phone with 2GB RAM, warranty(unlike the Chinese imports), 13MP camera and highly Customizable OS, dual sim. Phone gets good reviews both from customers and reviewers. Nice deal

Hello, I am the deal owner for this activity and I just wanted to clarify the process around claiming. The purchaser needs to provide proof of purchase to Wileyfox to claim the £20 cash back; email confirmation will suffice. Foniacs is a web store front for http://www.brightstar.com who are the worlds largest mobile phone distributor, all of the stock we sell is genuine UK, brand new and supported by the manufacturer. Hope you don't mind me posting.

no bugs to speak of , running the new CM13 stock incremental update myself , smooth!
I do find the notification TTS voice volumes a bit low even with all the volume settings maxed out.
CM12 TTS notification was very loud on external speaker.
I use my phone outdoors for interval training an rely on voice prompts for heart rate and other metrics.
At the risk of frying my speaker, I've tried the usual system vol boot hacks ( after rooting) but no improvement.
Yeah CM12.1 was plenty loud, Not so cm13 :disappointed:

Yeah totally agree phone is great for the money. Don't forget to back up anything you have on your sd card first, during update it will say "new storage found" ( or something along those lines) and will want to format card to phone

Mine has been accepted too after foniacs (brightstar) emailed me an invoice which I used.
Very impressed with foniacs who replied and dealt with this quickly.
Not impressed with Wileyfox at all for not accepting ebay/paypal documents despite using an ebay seller as one of the people you can claim cashback from. I've wasted too much time on this.

Just had my cashback claim accepted. I asked the seller for an invoice, which they sent me through the post. I took a photo of the invoice and downsized it so Wileyfox's website could accept it.

21 Apr 16 #124
I did the same. I called wileyfox promotions to check on my second set of screenshots and they said it needed to be an invoice. I recommend sending the foniacs ebay store a message and getting them to send out an invoice in the post.

21 Apr 16 1 #123
Same here. Submitted Paypal payment screenshot, Wileyfox rejected and stated '''Please send us a copy of the sales receipt or invoice as we cannot accept order confirmations or delivery notes as a proof of purchase'

I have sent them a 2nd screenshot showing email confirmation of order and eBay screenshots as well as note confirming no other paperwork/emails/invoices etc were supplied/can be obtained for this purchase.

If this gets rejected it would make me question why they included an eBay seller in the promotion if there is no possible way for the cashback to be claimed when bought from this seller.
Brodel
20 Apr 16 #122
I've had the same problem. I contacted the wileyfox promotions site, they told me that ebay / paypal screenshots do not count. They need an actual invoice, which should have been included when the phone was delivered. I don't remember getting one with the phone, did anyone else? I contacted foniacs and asked them to resend my invoice in the post as they told me that they wouldn't email it to me... pretty frustrating as I only have a few days left to make my claim.

You can email them at [email protected] or if anyone needs to call them, I used the number 01270 412020 which is listed as the number for Brighstar Distribution. I had to go through two switchboards before being put through to the right person though.

I've had the same today - did you send the ebay order confirmation? I wonder if I might have more luck forwarding the paypal invoice?
Has anyone successfully applied for cashback and if so what document did you include? Thank you

Hey all,

How do we get an eBay invoice for this item? It's not obvious! Do we have to contact foniacs directly?

I've had a response from Willeyfox Promotions: Please send us a copy of the sales receipt or invoice as we cannot accept order confirmations or delivery notes as a proof of purchase.

Don't forget people, cashback time

https://wileyfoxpromotions.com/gb/pages/cashback/home

Have an electronic version of your invoice (Contact the seller and ask, ebay print outs are getting knocked back) and your bank account details to hand when going through it.

After asking the seller for an invoice they replied they were aware people were having issues with Wileyfox, they were very quick to send me an invoice through the post. I've photographed and resized the invoice as the Wileyfox process only seems to like small files.

Good luck everyone.

Continuing to be tempted by this phone. Question is the back slightly curved to make it better fit in hand?
Also would it be a better investment than an Xperia z1? On paper they both have same specs z1 actually has better main camera but it's 3 years old nearly.... Confused me how they both have the same spec but I guess it was flagship at its time

Yea to be fair original price was £105 for used good, minus £20 from warehouse plus the £6.40 refund works out at only £79 for what I think is a cracking little phone
Ridgehead
4 Apr 16 #114
Maybe unlucky - I've had 2 refunds on my warehouse deal. Personally I'd try again and if no joy then just return it and buy new (while offer lasts) just on principle. I'm stupid like that! Still you got the £20 off warehouse to ease the pain so with the extra £6 off does it still work out cheaper?

Guy I spoke to said it was against policy as warehouse deal, mentioned I "knew" someone who was given refund, managed to get £6.40 back in end as a " one off", difference between the brand new price and what I paid, not great but better than a kick in the nuts :stuck_out_tongue:

I had no problems. Just kept it simple saying price drop again since purchase and they offered £20 straight away.

.seeeen Ridgehead!! you're the man!!!! nice you got some money back! good good!! I followed your cue and phoned in about the price drop and got the diff (£5.66) refunded as a £6 gift card! 34p profit!! yahoooooooo!!

yes the display "colour temp" toggle button on the pull-down-notification-drawer menu was in Polish, I did notice that while doing my fit drills in Charlton park the other day . I think that might just be a CyanOs bug. Anyway I've since re-installed the WileyOS ( which incidentally contains the 48mb Cyanogen OS (12.1) incremental update that is pushed to the phone when you first turn on a new handset) from here ( the 713MB file) . My phone's bootloader-unlocked & rooted and I didn't want to risk the hassle of unlocking again by flashing the rom with the fastboot file so I flashed the non-fastboot zipfile using TWRP and all seems fine. All the toggle buttons now show "Engrish" labels
Incidentally, the GPS seems fine. Endomondo crashed just once during my few days use. I'll be doing my usual 55km Saturday night cycle ride tonight and will test out the GPS exhaustively and report back

I think you got the better deal. I got the 'very good' but did seem used (although not marked) and the wileyfox packaging had labels and stickers on and was sellotaped shut. Seems it was returned on 9/2/16.
Out of curiosity on the pull down notifications is the bottom right one in Polish even when set to English?
Also going to try and see if I can get a bit of a refund due to the lower price.
Seems nice phone for the money though.

Update: Just got £7 refunded.

I've just received mine, BRAND new in wraps but in a brown box.
I bought the cheapest Amazon warehouse "used: good condition" handset when it was £104.55 paid £84.55 using the £20 discount you mentioned
I think Amazon just got a brand new phone out of a Wileyfox orange packaging box and sent it!
Anyway for anyone who missed out on the ebay deal this might be wort a punt
especially as the "used good handset is now 99.98 so adding a 2p warehouse filler item to boost the price to £100 and invoking the £20 discount would make the handset cheaper still (£80).
The screens very very bright even at less than 20% on my display settings.
I'm quite pleased with it especially with the defacto CyanOS environment which I've always used ,
I've enabled developer options and will be rooting it shortly
The only potential letdown might be the GPS as apparently the handset picks up only 2 of the major GPS constellations so might encounter some accuracy/lockon issues logging running metrics when I do my regular 9km runs, will report back
yeah many thanks for the Amazon pointer

Hi all, picked one of these up from warehouse deal on amazon and have a couple of questions that may be simple answer but driving me mad lol:
1) how can you assign your own ringtones for call ringing and message tone?
2) when downloading files such as mp3 etc, how can you choose to download to sd card rather than phone?

Thanks for any replys, always been simple to do on previous android phones I've had but cant see how to on this one

Mine arrived and after playing around with it I too noticed the micro usb is stupidly recessed, requiring a micro usb plug about 6mm long. The supplied cable is really short so I've found a 7mm long magnetic micro usb on Tiny Deal if anyone else is having the same problem as me (it is just the plug end, I've already got the magnetic cable to go with it). If it's too long I'll put a shim in or dremel the end, for 70p it's worth a punt.

http://www.tinydeal.com/upgraded-magnetic-cable-spare-adsorption-connector-f-smartphone-p-157420.html

If you've never seen magnetic USB cables they're definitely worth a look;

Had it a day now. Had the Moto G 4G 1072 5" screen previously which started out as a lovely phone and then ended up crawling, and me hating it with a passion. The extra ram and storage seem to let it work really well. GPS works well with Waze and locked quickly. Recessed usb charging port seems to be an idiotic design flaw, but as all my newer USB cables seem to be longer and fit well, it's no real issue. Older Blackberry charger and other usb cables work, but are literally only just in, but if you leave it still to charge, no issue. A newer cable is supplied too. As mentioned above, the box is really well designed and feels like you're getting a premium product.

Its a twin sim plus micro sd slot, so all 3 separate.

This is the reason i purchased it, i needed a dual sim phone but was amazed at the lack of dual sim phones with a separate sd slot, even the top end dual sim phones don't have all 3 separate.

I've set up my Swift and have been playing with it for a couple of hours. It updated immediately to the latest OS. It's very good for the price. It seems as fast/smooth as the Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 but it's smaller, which some will like. Not sure I like the default launcher, I found the app limit in folders annoying, so installed Google Now Launcher and works very well. Camera is ok...nothing to write home about. Sound is remarkably good quality and the screen is very bright and vibrant - you can see it fine in sunshine. Disappointed it hasn't got double-tap to wake, but no big sweat. Also, there's a cheap screen protector already on the phone which was picking up fingerprints and smudges good style...get rid of it if you want and stick on a better one.
Well worth £95 with the cashback and good luck to Wileyfox, lets hope they get better and better.
Oh and don't forget to go to Settings>About and enable Advanced Mode to get many more customisation options.

I've had this phone for a while. Overall I'm very pleased, despite some early software hiccups (camera crashes, Play store not working) before I updated the OS to latest version.

There are three negatives:

1) the GPS is actually quite bad, although people have had mixed experience of this.
2) If you want support from Wileyfox you're gonna have a bad time.
3) The USB port is recessed more than usual and you might have trouble keeping a connection with your charger cable.

Things to know about Wileyfox. They are Kazam. The makers of horrendous cheap Argos special phones. They are in turned owned by Meridian. A global investment company. The Swift is sold over the world under many brands. In Turkey it's the " General Mobile 4G" and in the far east.... The "Cherry Mobile". It was designed for the Android One project. So its ships with Cyanogen OS to wileyfox. Make of that what you will. Customer service has had a bad rap so far. Wileyfox promote themselves as a UK based company, but they only have a registered office address in London. The customer service is actually a 3rd party company based in the Netherlands. They cover the whole of the world for customer service.

I have just reported the price to them so if others do the same then *hopefully* they should drop the price in a couple of days. I tried it on to get them to price match but they wouldn't budge (yet). A couple of reviews point to a small chance of quality issues with the phone, so it might be worthwhile having the Amazon returns policy on your side.

Even at £110 after cashback I think this is a fantastic phone for the money.

Blimey! As much as I've kept on about how the Smart Ultra 6 is the better phone I've just had a browse on Wileyfox's website and discovered this phone has a gyroscope!

I've never seen any phone at this price point have a gyro; just the standard sensors like accelerometer, compass and proximity sensor.

I'll still recommend the SU6 over this but if you want a better camera and a gyroscope for 360° videos, then this is clearly the better buy.

Specs:
https://www.wileyfox.com/wp-content/themes/wileyfox/remote/download.php?file=/2015/08/Wileyfox_Swift_Specifications.pdf

EDIT: The Swift doesn't have NFC whereas the Smart Ultra 6 does. Oh well, swings and roundabouts.

Normally there is a link below the "product details" section. Looks like that link is missing on this page (typical) as all I can see is: " Would you like to update product info or give feedback on images?" I reported it whilst talking to CS, so maybe chat is the only way with this one? The more that do it, the more likely they'll match the price. It is ebay though so don't hold your breath!

In regards the screen replacement: I had the moto g 1st gen with the same gorilla glass and dropped that thing ALL THE TIME. On concrete, down my stairs. I even threw it half-way across a car park once by accident (don't ask). The thing hardly scratched let alone smashed. Take from that what you will.

Bought one of these last week from Amazon for £109 with the cashback. It is a CRACKING phone for the money. My wife has a Moto G 3rd Gen and it compares very well against it spec wise. It is a much lighter phone and is thinner too, and feels less like "my first phone" than the moto.

Cyangen OS seems pretty much like stock Android with a few good additions (Privacy guard, truedialler, LCD density tweak, themes, removable battery, dual sim...). The 2500mah battery seems perfectly reasonable for what it gets you (about 2+ days with normal use).

I know these things shouldn't really matter, but the the packaging is lovely too, you feel like someone has spent some effort doing this properly. Wileyfox also seem to offer really well priced extended warranty and screen replacement, which adds to the feeling that this is a legit product.

At less than a 100 bones this is a steal and kicks the moto to the stands.

posted this on last WFS deal, hope it helps someone,

great screen, great build, super battery life. never had dual sim before but found it useful. I'm on ee but was hoping to use 123 sim in slot 2 but it isnt 3G so settled for voda. wileyfox cs is shockingly bad so not sure how i`d get on if it goes wrong. lack of protective cases is a real thorn in my side and although they now have their own case available, reviews are poor. also found that when i set up a pin to unlock, when someone calls it doesn't identify the caller even if they're in the contacts list. must conflict with cm12? ships with truecaller which is a revelation, no more spam calls. camera is also good having a sony 13mp sensor.

daughter has su6 and although great its just too big for me and the build quality is not a patch on the wfs.

I've been looking at some of the nicer leather pull tab pouch covers too, the dimensions of the Swift are very similar to other phones, esp HTC One M8

I find these sorts of comments really useful. Much more so than the usual "if you spend more money you can get a better phone so this is a bad deal".
I often click into the deal comments specifically to see how it compares to other similarly priced deals because I'm trying to make an informed decision about what to buy. HUKD comments are really valuable source of info for me so please don't try to put people of posting that info, even if you already know it.

15 Mar 16 #54
My mate has one of these, they are really well built, you don't feel like it is just going to fall apart like with a lot of phones in this price range. Screen is also very crisp and clear, if I had the money spare right now i'd definitely be tempted.

It's not a lot larger and with a £5 cover on no one knows you're rocking a mere £100 phone :sunglasses:

15 Mar 16 #52
Wanted to buy one of these when they were released, good spec for the price and engineered in Europe.....or so I thought, the website certainly makes you believe that. However isn't this just a Longcheer/G1 phone with a Cyanogen port?

2 of these Swift phones in my household. The Wileyfox Swift is a great wee cheap phone. Running Cyanogen OS.....Which is a huge positive for me.

Would this be better than my LG G2... it has slowed right down of late and the battery is dying.

Quick restore and a new battery will have you back on track. The spec is the same!
horsepills
14 Mar 16 1 #37
You're completely ignoring the point that coldo makes though - yes it's more powerful (everyone knows this but people insist on posting it anyway) but it's also a very large, cheap looking handset. For anyone looking for a smaller, more portable phone the SU6 isn't a viable alternative.

It's a relevant comment. People will say it.

14 Mar 16 #28
Hmm this or a P8 lite?
chancooluk to Nobull
14 Mar 16 #31
I would recommend this over the P8 Lite. The screen is better quality (brightness, contrast, colour) on the Swift, and it also has better battery life. The software is also very different, the Huawei runs the EMUI skin over android, which is often criticised for being unintuitive and buggy, whereas Cyanogen OS on the swift is much closer to stock android.

Mine has been great since October when bought, but last couple of weeks has crashed when calls come in and had to be rebooted a couple of times. Shame as I've raved about it up until this point.

I have this phone, :man:
where to start, for the money it's well with it. IMO the most stylish cover on the market. I feel that I can do everything my z3 compact could do but faster.!!! with no junk that's default installed seems so fast.

The Swift also runs Cyanogen OS and is likely to recieve more update support than the SU6.

14 Mar 16 2 #17
The eBay shop is foniacs but if you go on the wileyfox website to check qualifying retailers it says phoniacs eBay store.
Brodel to Holdol
14 Mar 16 1 #18
Ah ok, thanks. Just to be sure, I called them up. They said that's fine, the retailer doesn't matter so long as it's a brand new unused phone.
Brodel
14 Mar 16 #16
Can anyone confirm that the retailer qualifies for the discount? I literally ordered this phone from Amazon this morning so am wondering if I should cancel and order from here. My concern is that the ebay store isn't listed on the Qualifying Retailers on the wilefox page despite it listing another ebay store. https://wileyfoxpromotions.com/gb/en/pages/cashback/qualifying-retailers

Also, for what it's worth. You can get screen replacement cover for 1 year for £9.99. This is only offered once when registering the product and you can't decide to purchase it later...just a heads up for anyone thinking of going for it.

you get £20 cashback if you from amazon as well, but the buying price is a lot more £128

Think I'd rather have the SU6 for similar money.
preecey to Cal_G
14 Mar 16 1 #10
Yep, the SU6 has a better screen, bigger battery and faster processor.

The Wileyfox Swift probably has the better camera and slightly better build quality, but that's it.

The first thing I thought when I clicked on this thread was "I wonder when the usual SU6 comments will start". I wasn't disappointed...zzz...

Why can't they just sell it at £95 instead of making us apply for a reimbursement. Either way. Heat.
friiza to parasitemol
14 Mar 16 2 #5
They get interest on the cashback amount for a month, and some people will mess up and lose the cashback.
AndyRoyd to parasitemol
14 Mar 16 6 #9
Usual marketing ploy. The cashback provides the incentive to buy during the promotional period, whilst also not devaluing the residual cost (and so the product technically retains a higher future resale value).
bellboys
14 Mar 16 #8
Yes, making you wait 30 days to claim means some will forget. That's what these deals rely on. So they aren't effectively selling it for 95 quid to all and sundry.
