Can't find this on their site anymore.... Not checked to see if they are off the shelves too though. Thought the offer expires next week 'n all. :disappointed:

Agree with comments that say it mixes well enough, but isn't refined enough to go solo with.
The £16.50 for Devil's Cut at Asda seems very reasonable, but my nearest one doesn't stock it and they won't deliver to me
Would love to get hold of the Elijah Craig @ M&S but not found it in the ones near me, and looks like it's going off the menu....Trades at £35 in Whole Foods.

Very true, but for £15 you can't get vexed over this. I'd prefer 101 every time but they only sell this in town not anywhere local to me.

Agree it is quite weak in comparison to more expensive bourbons, for £20 it's not bad. Haven't tried Devil's Cut will have to get round to it

Yes, Devils cut is good stuff - especially if it's on offer at 16 which it is periodically.

Bought a bottle of this today in Tesco for £14. I've never tried it before, it's OK but wouldn't go out of my way for another.

Not for much longer though (Elijah Craig) as it's been discontinued.

Not a fan of buffalo trace its really weak IMO, try Jim beam Devils cut, asda sell it cheaper than Tesco

As far as value goes you won't find a better bourbon for £20 than Buffalo Trace IMHO, at least I've never came across one.
As far as cheaper brands go, Lidl's own bourbon recently won some gold award, it's meant to be very nice and is only £12 or thereabouts. Might have to check that one out for myself at some point.

IMO if you're going for a cheap bourbon Jim Beam is nicer and can be had for £2-3 less.
Worth paying a little more if you're going to drink without a mixer. I got some Elijah Craig 12 year old small batch for £21 from Amazon (back up to £35 atm though).

Elijah Craig is always £26 a bottle in M&S, absolutely gorgeous stuff IMHO, one of my favourites
I was lucky enough to pick up a bottle of Wild Turkey rare Breed for £24.42 recently via an amazon deal posted on here  Yet to try it though

No doubt someone will soon be on saying the 101 is a better drink, but good luck finding that for £15. Thanks, I'll get a bottle on the way home tonight.

Sorry if I sound like a douchebag, but screw classifications and technicalities. If it looks like a bourbon, smells like a bourbon and tastes like a bourbon, it's a bourbon.
Picking people up on "JD doesn't come from Kentucky so it's not a real bourbon" is straight out of Whiskey Bore 101. As for 'cheap and nasty', JD is the Gold Blend, the Ford Focus or the Coldplay of whiskey, it is perfectly ok but people will always slate it, just because it is so ubiquitous.
My current 'American Whiskey' collection consists of 9 different bottles, nothing as fabulous as a Pappy Van Winkle or even a Noah's Mill but in itself is easily £200+ (don't tell the missus) so I consider myself just about qualified enough to comment.

Yes!!! Someone who knows their stuff, JD is not even a real bourbon and is foul, Jim beam Devils cut is way better and Woodford reserve is one of my favourites from a supermarket

IMO this Wild Turkey 81 sits with Jim Beam in the 'better than supermarket own brand stuff, but not really even as good as JD' category. Agree with previous poster that there is too much burn in this, it is not a refined bourbon at all.
The £23 RRP makes the £20 standard price for Buffalo Chase look even more of a bargain.
For £15 this Wild Turkey is ok if you want to use it as a mixer with coke but don't be fooled by the £8 'saving' on RRP, this is only worth £15 a bottle so should be standard price.
But of course, taste is a subjective thing.

JD still sits in the cheap and nasty category and is irrelevant here as it is a sour mash not a bourbon.
The WT is not a bad buy at 15.
There are much better bourbons available for not much more.
Clarkes bourbon from Aldi is very well regarded
Woodfords reserve is also leaps and bounds above and is often found at £23.... but this is a £8 difference (worth it IMHO)

It's a reasonable price but not a great bourbon.
Used to love Wild Turkey a few years back but this is a much rougher version.

Wild Turkey 101 is the one to go for. The 81 is indifferent at best. I don't think any of the major supermarkets stock 101 but you can track it down. If you can get it for £25, it's a good price.

Tesco is selling some cheap stuff recently. Not sure how good the quality is though. But one hot from me on this one!

Suppose it's better than the usual tesco wild goose chase! Have some heat.

Heat is what you will get. This stuff is rough and burns the insides out.

Bought it because of the price but I can't say I liked it. Far to woody in flavour for my tastes.
