Not sure I'd be happy entrusting 1TB of data on a hard drive that at one point may have otherwise failed, just to save £10 or so. :-S

I did. And got no joy. And yes I'm rather piss3d off.
But if getting stiffed for four quid is the worst thing that happens to me this week it's a good week.

exactly what happened to me took the money no drive was fobbed of with excuses after 5 weeks had to get paypal to get involved and got my refund from them .worst company ive ever dealt with .Has put me off WD for life ,never buy one again due to the shambolic customer service .The standard email i received numerous times from was this
"We apologize for the inconvenience that this may have caused you.
We are still actively working to resolve your case. Unfortunately, to
date, we have not reached a resolution.
We will continue to keep you updated until a resolution has been
achieved. "
I never did get a "resolution" just these stupid emails

I REALLY dont get why people wont pay the 13 quid more for brand new and get the extra warranty and reassurance?

Like the others I also had problems with this refurb store, they never shipped the hard drive and took 3 weeks and 3 emails to get a refund, not worth the hassle.

Not bad a bad price for 1tb but personally i'd rather just pay the extra £13 odd and get a brand new 1tb slim Samsung from Amazon with a 3year warranty.

Would you trust your 1TB of data to a drive with a lifetime warranty?

I bought a few drives in a short period, thought I had bought them indirectly, seems I have bought them directly, paypal claim has been put in. Stopped responding to me now via email, not amused.

Why so much heat from what is obviously a pretty poor company for customer complaints.

I wouldn't use it for critical data, but I use one for recording off a USB recording capable HDTV and playing back my video files on it. It's a lot of storage for that money compared to using USB flash drives and if it did fail I wouldn't lose anything really important

is it worth saving a few quid entrusting a 'referb' with your precious data?

Crikey, I like to save a few quid as much as anyone, but not at the price of wasting my time. Sending gear back, arguing over postage...FFS. Just pay a tenner more for peace of mind, decent warranty etc etc.

They did, but it doesn't seem to apply on this deal as the price remains unaltered.

Got one a couple of weeks ago, and it was DOA.
Have had to fork out £4.40 to post it back to them*, and will hopefully get my replacement drive in a week or so.
That said, heat added - as I assume I was just very unlucky.
*There are probably cheaper options than Royal Mail but I didn't shop around.

If it's DOA you shouldn't have to pay for return postage. Did you ask for a return label?

I think that has something to do with the fact that, there are sometimes brand new 2TB for £50 here.
Do not see 1TB at £27 here often.

Ordered the MyPassport already but would've gone for this otherwise. Good deal. As I'm using it for Xbox One there's no fear of losing data.
