Best advice is... do not buy a Vax product! Awful company, awful products, awful Customer Service. Products - luckily they come with a 6 year warranty, because you'll sure end up having to get a few replacements! I'm on either my 5th or 6th hoover now since January 2012.. Had the motors blow up on two, a hose completely disintegrate within a week of un-boxing one and so on!

Must say that their customer service has been great. We bought a Vax Air Reach with 6 year cover just over a year ago. I clean out the brush bar about once or twice a month as the 3 females in the house have long hair that wraps around it quickly. The last time I cleared it, I noticed the bearing on one end was stiffening up. I contacted Vax to ask what size it was so I could obtain a spare, they are sending me a complete new brush bar. I thought they may deem it normal wear and tear, so hadn't even requested one.
The model we have is one of the ones that conform to the strict EU regulations on power. It requires emptying each time it's used as it's sucks so well. The only negative is it lifts loose lino and eats flimsy mats (we just shake them out now). Shame it doesn't have a suction reduce adjustment or wheels at the front that can be lowered to ease pushing if full suction not required, as it can be hard to push forward on some carpets. Best cleaner we've had and as good as the day we bought it, unlike those in the past that lose suction over time.

I bought a cordless duo last time paid for 1 and got 2! anyway the only problem I have found is the pipe section lacks suction big time!!!!!! its a well known fact at vax this is a big problem that's why there knocking them out for peanuts! to keep on top of this you must clean the filter every 2 times around the house the main part is great
Warranty is not worth paper its wrote on!!. Tried make a claim regarding cord said it was not covered. Read the small print with a big magnifier.

We ordered the Vax Flair Total Home cylinder vac for 45 quid plus del. Ordered it because our 6 year old Dyson Cylinder isn't performing like it used to/should (and, yes, we've took it apart and cleaned everything). we paid well over 150 quid for the Dyson but I always vowed I would never pay that sort of money for a vac ever again.
Anyway, we used the Vax for the first time this morning and if you pardon the reverse pun we were actually blown away at just how good it is! My wife had used the Dyson 2 days ago around the bungalow but what came out of the only bit of carpet we have in the house (it's a rug actually, the rest of the bungalow is covered with laminate flooring/floor tiles) was actually embarrassing! Loads of fluff and, dare I say, dead skin and the rug looks a different colour now (I kid you not). OK, this model only has a 2 year warranty but if it keeps up this performance and conks out after 2 years I won't be complaining. And will buy again in the Vax sale!
PS Forgot to say, no dents/blemishes in the packaging, no previous customers' address labels and the machine was absolutely brand spanking new. A discontinued model? No idea. Here's what I do know - it's a BARGAIN! The Dyson has now been consigned to the garage and will be used for vaccing the car.
