Stayed here a couple of years ago around the end of May. It's a very nice hotel which gets very busy. We went all inclusive and the food can get a bit samey but it was OK. I found the problem with Santa Susanna was getting to the beach due to the train track and road in the way, and the sand was the greatest. Good thing is Gerona airport is close by, we went to Barcelona and it takes a while from there.

Lately most hotel rooms I've been to have 2 single beds that can be together as a double or separated as twin room

Try to upgrade to half board or all inclusive when you get there,not a lot will be open in.Malgrat del mar or Santa Susanna
Calella isn't far away,good shopping street and big beach.
Lloret de mar is the biggest resort in Costa Brava/Costa Maresme and also worth a visit as is Barcelona.

So I got 2 weeks in Spain in June [in the season] - paid 1200. If I'd get same standard on this hols [extra luggage, hal board etc] I'd pay 480 for 5 days. Which gives me around 1400 off season. It isn't good deal.

Not a deal that suits me but can say we have stayed here 6 times and its a great hotel.
