Very handy for a quick curry base.....so much better than the mess and chance of it going off in storage associated with fresh stuff

robin5858 - I suppose its a frequent issue - taste versus health. Of course you don't eat the brine, and you don't need to add extra salt if using brined prepared garlic but the taste of vinegar is strong and unappealing except with fish & chips!

The smell really put me off these so I can't recommend. It almost smells fake. Personally, I had to go back to the proper stuff. As others have said, it doesn't take long to puree a couple of cloves of garlic in a press or on a chopping board.

How much is in the jars? Did search on Asda website but no results. Price is good, but sounds like - see Michelle1981 - they are in vinegar which means cold for me. No need for vinegar to preserve - better to use brine.

But brine adds extra salt into your diet. Vinegar doesn't.

I suppose these might be handy for bone idle people who don't know how to use a knife.

Or those, like you, who aren't posh enough to own a Garlic Press.

I use these and think they smell pickled! I guessed they pickle to preserve?
Great price.
