They did an offer on 5w30 Fully Synthetic a few weeks ago. Sign-up to their e-mails and it will hopefully come around again!

Me too, so got mobil 3000 something for £23.99 from Halfords I had to put 3 litres in my Astra 1.6sxi oil burner hehe
I have never seen it as cheap as £9 for 5 litres with free delivery. Most auto factors will charge 15quid minimum for even a 4 litre bottle. when the halfords offer was on for £12 it went hot and this is £3 cheaper.

Are you sure 5w30 isn't too thin for an oil burner?

I never new you could put any other grade of engine oil in! Funny thing is I do not get any smoke or see any leaking anywhere. I will have to research it. Cheers for the advice

Heat added. Also went through TCB for another 5.05% off as my Sierra XR4X4 will be due a service in 5 months and I'll not get it cheaper than this.
Re 5w30 being too thin for an oil burner.
Not necessarily if the manufacturer recommends 5w30.
I've been running my diesel (also runs Nitrous and Methanol at the flick of a couple of James Bond type switches too :smirk: ) on 5w30 for 7 years and it had 5w30 from the dealer for ita first 2 years before that.

Use the £15 off £100 spend to get things cheaper. Ended up averaging out at around £7 for this in conjunction with a code

I've seen those engines use oil without any smoke, strange. Also a lot of people run them on 10w40 semi. In the handbook GM usually specify more than one viscosity of oil.

Thanks. I just finished the batch of 5W40 triple qx that I bought for around £12 a few years back. £17.99 for 10L works out cheaper than the similarly specced Chevron oil at Costco. Even cheaper than those supermarket instore deals!
The cheapest I have seen it was £18.99 a few weeks back on one of their daily deals.
If you use the 'SALE10' code, it costs £18 and that is an excellent price (in my opinion) for 5L of fully synthetic 5W30 oil from a known brand.

Definitely fully synthetic as in its description and also confirmed by 'picknik'.It's a branded Shell Helix oil reduced from £44.99 to £19.99 (£18 with SALE10 Code) so is also 'on offer' and IMHO definitely a bargain

Careful, the one I linked to is different to the one you were talking about. The grey bottle is fully synthetic, the blue one may not be.
