Was after 4 cheap brand name tyres to replace the ones on my lease car. Didn't want to go too mental as it will be going back in 4000 miles. Seems great value for this size for a tyre that isn't a Chinese ditchfinder.
Pretty common fitment, most performance VAG cars use this size.
A few pence cheaper on cartyres.com fitted at the same place, but I wanted to pay now to guarantee the price.
Says low stock, so thought I'd help someone out by listing it on here.

Can anyone recommend a good all year tyre please? Recently got a Cooper tyre because of its lifetime guarantee.
He has a point - they are a totally different part fulfilling a different job. It's not a case of the same thing being called different at all. Before you ask, Jag / Audi driver - bring on the hate

Had my fitting today for these tires..... well should of been.
Drove a good 10 miles to get to the Halfords garage only to be told the tyres hadn't arrived and would be another couple of days to get in.
No phone calls to tell me there was a problem with the order nothing. My fitting was 4.30pm so not like they didn't have the time to notify me.
Absolute joke of a company. Will pay more and go elsewhere from now on.

You got hub nuts mixed up with wheel nuts - tomato/tomarter. I don't think so.

Surely if you have paid, they can't offer you a replacement. If you hadn't of paid, and paid on arrival/fitting then a replacement can be offered?

Had mine booked to get fitted at noon today. Phone call at 10 to say "they've phoned all their suppliers and no one has any stock. Would I like a slightly more expensive tyre?". . . . . Would you like to boil your head? was the response. Halfrauds strikes again.

Daughter told by her lease company, Renault, that she had to have same tyre, make and spec as to the one that was on there when she got an irreparable puncture. Hope you're ok with the interpretation of the small print.

Yes I am thanks, that's why I've ordered them. This is the second lease from VWFS and didn't have an issue returning the last one. I'd love to have them try that one with me, they certainly wouldn't have got a penny from my wallet.

That would be wheel nuts then as the hub nut tightens the hub and not the wheel.

As 225 40 18 I found the Falkens sidewall a little too firm, giving quite a harsh ride. So much so I ran them at a little below the reccomended pressure. When the Maxxis were on, the difference was immediate. At first they were a little squirelly and didnt inspire as much confidence. This wore off after the first 10 miles. Now running at the recommended pressure I feel the grip is as good as the Falkens in the corners. Generally they dont feel as harsh and higher speeds are much quieter. Got too admit, I'm impressed for the money. Much like the OP, Im not keeeping the car much longer, didnt want to invest too much but didnt want to give the next owner crap rubber.

Good price for a national fitter. If you're in the midlands, I had 4 225 40 18 maxxis VS01 for £230 all in (57.50 a corner) at speedys wheels.
Currently at 58.14 a wheel, but with an additional 10% off voucher bringing it down further.
Had them on my TT for a week now, and find them more compliant (and quieter), whilst maintaining performance, than my previous Falken ZEs

On the website it says upto 10% off, in my case £4.20. Great price for the maxxis, how are they? I have falken's on my A3, and they are good.

I hope they won't, but.. do you really think someone is going to go and get the 4 tyres, put them to one side and label them with your name ready for your booking as soon as you've pre-paid?

HEY that's totally unfair. The wheel on my stagecoach fell of the other day while being chased by native Americans. Halfords rode out within the hour and replace the wheel and luckily found a whole host of new problems to fix. I ended up with 2 new horses. Yehaw

Cheap price so heated. To the op, double check the small print in your lease as I believe some state you have to replace tyres like for like. Not sure this is definitely the case for you but thought it's worth a mention

Thanks for the tip, people should be aware. That said, I'm alright on my lease, just the usual woolly chat about same specification. I reckon they deliberately make it as vague as possible to worry people though.

Yep, as stated in the opening post. Problem is you don't pay till you've had them fitted and according to some reviews people say they get a call from the centre saying they can't supply at the quoted price.

I posted Uni royal ones for a little more than this on here. Glad I waited as these are better IMO. Especially for the summer.
