Do not buy this model. Slow write. 10MB/S.

You can pick Integral at cheaper price and faster.

Sandisk Ultra 80MB/s version 128GB quite often £30, write 20, read 82.

If do not mind 64GB, 7dayshop 64GB is £11, write 29, read 73.

Why people always find the bad options, and they do not know it?

There you have it , got mine arrived today, a poor performer for similar money in my USB 3 setup when compared with Integral 64GB Ultima Pro 90MB/s Micro SDXC U1 Class 10 using the same configuration, refer to my other post for the Integral. Benchmarked twice using two difference USB 3 adaptors, as first one was so poor so I wanted to make sure using another adapter, just barely meeting minimum Class 10:

I say, this is the slowest c10. Then you say it is the cheapest.

I reply it is not the cheapest, and give you a list of cheaper and faster cards. Then you say it isToshiba.

I reply if you want this card because it is Toshiba, it is your choice. And I moved on.

But you still not happy. Just keep on argue anything and everything, and seems got ruder and ruder. I have not been rude to you yet. You do not deserve that.

I have no interest in what you say anymore. I do not want to waste any time on your pointless arguments.

I ignored you now. Without your comments, the world is so much more peaceful.

huangxq2
15 Mar 16 #44
In memory storage, I personally would not value Toshiba highly.

In this category, I value Samsung the highest, then Sandisk (only those products I know they are good, Sandisk have a lot of bad products too), then everything else.
brilly
15 Mar 16 #43
eh? if application is media then the sequential speeds are not so relevant
only when copying over and establishing a first run database perhaps
full hd bluray disk tops out at 50mbit/s or so (with lossless sound) - around 6MB/s .... thats read not write
read is generally much higher than write and those slooooow cards are 10MB/s write so much faster reads than 6MB/s read with any
why not just let people choose rather than make 100 painful posts calling them dumb etc?
i dont want integral, sandisk ultra aren't 30 atm... so make a point or move on
huangxq2
15 Mar 16 #42
Applications wise. Sequential speeds do not matter much. It is the random speed. Those cheap cards normally have bad random speeds.

In the list of cards I have used or people told me their results, only two cards have good random speeds:
Sandisk Ultra 80MB/s
Sandisk Extreme U3.

Besides the above too, Samsung Pro, Samsung Pro plus and Sandisk Extreme plus will have very good random speeds, but they are so...... expensive.

If your main purpose of using micro sd is for applications, then go for one of the two, their random speeds are few times faster than any other cards on my list.

I do not have the test results of random speeds for this Toshiba Exceria, but I expect it to be very bad too.

Having said that, the main purpose of most people using micro sd is not for applications, it is more for storage of photos, music and movies. Of which, sequential speeds are the key. That is why micro sd normally place more importance on sequential speeds than random speeds.

If your main purpose is photos, music and movies rather than applications, by going with any other cards I recommended, you will find they are 2 or 3 times faster, or more depend on which one you buy.
brilly
15 Mar 16 #41
bet they were cheap though and possibly still work, slow doesn't need to mean tat
the speed is only part of the story, reliability and price are still factors for some applications
this one has 10write, fine - would 20 write make it any better for an application where its being used to hold media etc? nope not really other than initial copying
however if i did need performance the 20write would possibly be a bottleneck anyway and is only a single performance value as nothing is said about random writes etc anyway
im sure lexar is decent but have never used anything of theirs so would go for sandisk/samsung/transcend/kingston personally
friiza
15 Mar 16 #40
I've only had SLOW usb drives from Toshiba. Hoped their sd cards would be better but the comments here reveal otherwise. This seems to be another case of trading tat off a reputable brand name. If you don't feel comfortable with integral, get a lexar.

Are you day dreaming?

Quote from you:
"i dont need to test, its pretty much common sense i thought. if u click on the link for the item, go onto the tech tab on the item,
it says slowest and fastest speeds the card writes and reads to and from, 10mb up to 48mb,
the speed is largely determined by the equipment, if u are using brand new equipment you are not going to get bottom end 10mb that you state."

"you are wrong, the 10mbp/s slow speed is the lowest it will work at, and 48mbp/s the fastest, hence why it says slowest and fastest, the speed depends upon the equipment you are using.if you are using a camera that is top spec it will work at fastest speeds."[/quote]
huangxq2
14 Mar 16 #36
OP,

This card is so slow that the fastest it can write is 10MB/s which is the bare minimum of class 10. That is why I say it is the slowest c10.

Noboday is mistaken the min with the max.

Do you understand now?

class 10 with read up to 48MB/s

simply means they promise you write can reach 10, read can go as high as 48.

You cannot tell by "class 10 with read up to 48MB/s", how fast is the write, Nor can your common sense.

It has to be tested in real life which is how I know it has a max write 10. Someone told me the test result, somebody else also said amazon reviews has the same results.

If you say it writes faster, show us the evidence!!!! We do not want results from your common sense. It is not good enough especially you know so little.
huangxq2
14 Mar 16 #35
He thought the 48MB/s was talking about both write and read, that is why the first many posts of his, he was using common sense, toshiba website to back him up.

Now he realised he was wrong, and he is trying to deny it.
huangxq2
14 Mar 16 #34
People, please ignore OP's comment, he really do not know much in this area. He use his common sense to support his point that this card can write faster than 10MB/s. And do not take test results into account. OP, good luck with your common sense.

Per OP:
"you are wrong, the 10mbp/s slow speed is the lowest it will work at, and 48mbp/s the fastest, hence why it says slowest and fastest, the speed depends upon the equipment you are using.if you are using a camera that is top spec it will work at fastest speeds."

Per OP:

If the statements are throwing you, here is a graph to get an idea of the "averages". Ignore the SanDisk result, they used an old SanDisk card.

https://www.ephotozine.com/article/top-10-best-microsd-memory-cards-2015-27366

He was abit persistant but at the end of the day huangxq2 was actually right. Toshiba are a good brand for many things but they don't specialise in MicroSD cards, just like Polaroid are brand for Cameras, but produce horrific TV's. Transcend and SanDisk actually DO specialise in memory storage (HDD's/MicroSD etc) all far better than Toshibas products. Samsung do provide other products, but are ranked among them with Storage. If you need one now go right ahead because £30 is good, but the other linked alternatives are faster overall for similar prices.

You can use programs to test if your card is legit, I believe there is an app called "SD Insight" to test the legitimacy of your card. Just incase you're reluctant to buy from places like "MyMemory", they have actually been around for a while now. I've used them quite abit, and they haven't personally sent me a fake as of yet.

Honestly, if you're really headstrong just go ahead and buy your card. It won't ruin my day, and like I said its a good price if you need it right this second. I'm just here because I hate to see good help being shot down.

I think the confusion is based around you saying:

"... the 10mbp/s slow speed is the lowest it will work at, and 48mbp/s the fastest ..."

and again here:

"...toshiba does not state the maximum write speed but it says up to 48mbp/s which is as described on their official site..."

So are you actually saying you mean it writes between 10mbps and 48mbps ? Or do you mean that 48mbps figure is a combination of read and write speeds ?

If so that's not the correct way to express card speeds, they should never be mixed like that as it's not a useful way to list card specifications.

If you didn't mean that and you are saying the write range is 10 - 48mbps - then please show us the link where it states that.

A quick check on Amazon seems to back up the 10mbps write speed maximum.

:-)
Ashamuk
14 Mar 16 1 #25
i never not got it, i never said it was 48 mb for write, u said i said that.
i simply said 10 is the lowest, u said its the max it offers when this is not the case.
huangxq2
14 Mar 16 #24
Give you an example.

Sandisk Ultra 80MB/s version,

the 80MB/s is promise its read up to 80.

It actually got highest read 82, but highest write only 20.

Do you got it now?

The same is true for this Toshiba, it only promise a read up to 40. It never promised write would be anywhere near 40.
Ashamuk
14 Mar 16 1 #23
i have not once stated that the write speed was 48mbp/s
where in my posts have i said this?
i simply said your comment that the write speed of 10 max is incorrect, when that is the slowest.
u need to go through what i said and not assume what u think i have said.
huangxq2
14 Mar 16 1 #22
If you do not understand, stop argue, just listen to people who have more experience and actually tested this card, or you could buy this card, use or test it, and then tell me if it is any different.
huangxq2
14 Mar 16 #21
Where does it say write speed up to 48MB/s?

It says "Read Speed: Up to 48 MB/s".

You just cannot listen. It states read speed up to 48MB/s. I fully acknowledge that.

Are you thinking read and write speeds are normally the same?
huangxq2
14 Mar 16 #20
Because you keep arguing that this card is better. Seriously in what way?
If you want this particular card, that is just your choice. This card is a slower card and not cheaper, end of story.
Ashamuk
14 Mar 16 #19
no, your comment was the fastest it will write at is 10mbp/s, that is the slowest it would ever write at, toshiba does not state the maximum write speed but it says up to 48mbp/s which is as described on their official site:

** Read and write speeds may vary depending on the read and write conditions, such as devices you use and file sizes you read and/or write.
*1) For the purpose of calculating read/write speed in this context, 1MB = 1,000,000 bytes.
*2: 1 MB per second is calculated as 1,000,000 bytes per second.
*3: Based on Toshiba's test results. *Actual read and write speeds depend upon the device in use and the size of the file

This card promise can have read max to 48MB/s. Do not get it wrong, read only, not write. That is where you got the wrong impression. The card did not promise a write speed.

It is classed as c10, it should have minimum read or write 10MB/s.

All above speeds are talking about sequential read and write.

random read and write speed are so much slower in every card, manufacturer do not give you indications or warranty of how fast are the random speeds.

Per test results:
This card has max write 10MB/s, Sandisk Ultra 80MB/s has max write 20MB/s, 7dayshop has max write 30MB/s.
How much simpler I have to lay out the facts for you to understand?

I think you do not understand much about the speeds. Test results means a lot more than statement, especially that this card did not state write speed, it was your mis-understanding of thinking the 48MB/s is to do with write speed as well as read. My test equipments can get to some U3 card to 74 write, 93 read.
MrPuddington
14 Mar 16 #17
With so many fakes around, I would only buy memory cards from respectable dealers and respectable manufacturers. This is neither. If you do buy it, make sure that you test it thoroughly (writing 120GB on it and checking that all of it reads back correctly).

huangxq2
14 Mar 16 1 #14
No, you are wrong. Did you actually test the card?

People told me their test result, 10MB/s is its sequential write speed. It does not go faster in write.

I never talk about what is a minimum for c10. That does not mean much.

I have so many test results of different cards, you really do not need to tell me what c10, U1 or U3 means. I know where you are coming from, but you completely guess wrong of where I am coming from.

Those are the cards I have personally used and test except Sandisk Ultra 80MB/s. They are the max sequential read and write those cards could get: (

U1 Micro SD:

7dayshop C10 64GB, 29/73 MB/s. write/read.

Samsung Evo Plus 128GB 24/75 MB/s,

Sandisk Ultra 80MB/s version: 20/82 MB/s

Samsung C10 64GB 20/43 MB/s.

Kingston C10 64GB, 15/42 MB/s.

Sandisk Ultra C10 64GB, 9 or 10/?? MB/s. Returned as not reached class 10 minimum speed.

U3 Micro cards speeds which I used:

Sandisk Extreme 64GB, 55/70 MB/s, write/read.

Lexar 633x UHS-I U1 64G (it is only U1, but have U3 performance), 47/93 MB/s.

Kingston 64GB, 74/93 MB/s.

Integral UltimaPro X MicroSD UHS-I U3 64G, 65/77 MB/s.

Who said it is cheapest. It is more expensive and worst performance. It is just simply bad choice. People really do not know what they are paying for. Is it cheaper or better value than any of the 4 I listed below?

If can do with 64GB, go for 7dayshop at £11.

If want 128GB, wait for Samsung Evo or Sandisk Ultra 80MB/S version at £30. They are here very often.

If cannot wait, go for Integral 128GB at around £24.

Any of these cards are faster in both read and write compare to Exceria. For write, they could be 3 times fast. And they are not more expensive.
