The two RTS games (Galactic Battlegrounds and Empire at War) are both excellent, if you like RTS. Lego Star Wars is a lot of fun. The bundle is worth buying just for those.
I've never played any of the X-Wing and TIE Fighter games but they were considered excellent back in the day. It's possible they haven't aged well (they do look their age and won't be as fast as modern day shooters) so they might just be for purists only. Looking forward to giving them a go though - hopefully they'll be like the Rogue Squadron games that I did play.
Not a Star Wars fan? Or not a video game fan? Because it contains some excellent Star Wars video games, some of them only recently released on Steam, at a fraction of the retail cost.
Well if they start with good games, where have they got to go? People complain when they repeat games or entire bundles so, having done 'Star Wars Humble Bundle 1', this is the companion bundle.
Get over to SteamGifts and see if anyone has any of those previously bundled games for trade.
I think most people have bought/are buying the X-Wing and TIE Fighter games for the nostalgia value. I'm not sure how well they hold up today (I never played them originally so I'm looking forward to trying them but we'll see how long they hold my interest).
The graphics of the Knights of the Old Republic games still hold up, even though they're both over 10 years old now. Lego Star Wars is much more recent so still looks fine.
Galactic Battlegrounds and Empire at War are strategy games so graphics hardly matter there, although Empire at War still looks pretty good too.
Yes, sure, as long as it's in the Humble Store and not one of the items that's excluded from the deal.

This is amazing! They're all old Star Wars games, obviously, but they're all excellent ones - and the X-Wing and TIE Fighter games were just (re)released on Steam last year and all at £6.99, so it's a bit surprising that they've been bundled so soon and it's a huge saving.
But the big one for me here is Galactic Battlegrounds - I was beginning to think that it would never appear on Steam (it's been on GOG for a year, but all the others went on Steam at the same time) but it just went on Steam today and it's here for 74p! For those of you who don't know, this is the Star Wars RTS made by Ensemble Studios, who made Age of Empires, using the Age of Empires II engine.
Oh, and I'm really glad I held off buying Lego Star Wars in the Christmas sale now too!

Cracking bundle if you've got even half the nostalgia I have for these games. Rebellion (or Supremacy as it was called in the UK I think) is a sort of precursor to Empire at War that has a surprising amount of depth to it. Not sure how well it's aged.
But the X-wing games are fantastic. TIE fighter is possibly the only Star Wars game that really puts you in the shiny boots of an Imperial (go away, Force Unleashed and your silly pretend-evil story) and has a fantastic story if you can get past the dated graphics.
If you play X-wing Alliance, be sure to look for the XWA Upgrade project that upgrades nearly all the models in the game to much higher-detail fan-made versions, and it looks fantastic. Works perfectly on the GOG version, I think Steam is supported too now.

Not had any issue at all on Windows 7 with my physical copy. Something people forget when blindly heating 50 games for $1 deals on HUKD is the fact that half of them will be broken through Steam. Physical copies means flexibility and often you can fix them when of course, once you pass ownership of your games to Valve you're stuffed. Best advice if you're having problems with KOTOR is to source a physical copy - of which there are plenty around. :sunglasses:

There isn't a control on party 'mentality' or anything is there? e.g. telling them to attack enemies on sight or anything? Don't have the game installed anymore but I was a huge lover of KOTOR1 and still have never played through KOTOR2 and discovered the story!

As much as I loved X-wing and Tie-Fighter - I'd installed them a month or 2 back....and no they haven't aged well at all....certainly not on a larger screen.
However......X-Wing Alliance (which I'd never originally played through) As has been mentioned, is great using the Darksaber XWA Upgrade.....updates the graphics - adds widescreen support.
The only downside however, is can't seem to get yaw to work on my flight sticks....searched on this and looks like only way might be to create a virtual joystick and configure it.
The links are outdated, but talks about the XWA Upgrade.....also an ability to put the original Tie-Fighter missions into the XWA game (to get the benefit of improved graphics). I've done the XWA Upgrade, however haven't yet tried incorporating the missions from the original game. Has anyone tried that yet? Curious to if it also takes the story/cutscenes etc along or literally just the missions?
Is a page covering the conversion of Tie Fighter, X-wing, and X-Wing Vs Tie Fighter into the XWA engine. It's very confusing though. XWA looks pretty modern with the XWA Upgrade however....now if only could get yaw/roll to work as they should

TehJumpingJawa to jameshothothot
2 Mar 161#85
Yes, both KOTOR & Mass Effect were developed by Bioware and share many similarities (not surprising given KOTOR is the direct precursor to ME)
Empire at War is a light strategy game; it has a real-time(with adjustable speed) strategy layer, and real-time tactical space & ground combat systems for resolving battles.
The strategy layer is shallow.
The space combat is good, though rather arcadey for my tastes.
The ground combat is poor.
It's most similar (though inferior in every way) to either Sword of the Stars, or the Total War franchise.
SW:Rebellion(Supremacy) might have been rather janky, and has aged poorly, but it did something fresh & quite original.
If you can get past the graphics & the interface, Rebellion is a far richer experience.

Can anyone recommend a basic/cheap-ish joystick for use with Tie Fighter, X-Wing etc? Can keys be mapped to buttons as well, as I recall there were lots of commands (targeting, shield/laser/power cycling etc), so would be nice to move some to the joystick)

I wish I could convert my Mac ADB Gravis Firebird to USB for this, been hanging onto it for about 20 years, such a good (and ridiculously expensive) stick.
That said, in light of the amount of people having problems getting these to run on steam, missing CD soundtracks etc. I don't think I can be bothered patching, Googling for tweaks, just to get the damn games to run, Scouring charity shops for the original CD's would be less annoying.
Did the patch-fandango with TR1 the other month, got it all working, but they shouldn't be sold in that state.

Both taken by lurkers, sadly but inevitably. :disappointed: [Edit - okay, glad to see that one of them's received thanks, at least!]
All gone im afraid :disappointed: thanks for even posting a key back! most people usually ( as you can tell ) take the key and leave without a word.
Still a good deal as it helps charity out and most of the games are good, if not great.
IMO neither X-wing Alliance nor KOTOR have been surpassed; both remain classics well worth playing if you haven't already.
Cracking bundle if you're missing out on these in your collection.
I played XWA back in the day and the story and gameplay were top-notch.
I recently bought TIE Fighter CD (fully voice acted) from GOG.com, and, graphics aside, it also is proving to be a stellar hand.
Buy yourself a joystick and give these have a chance!
Link to the video review with footage of each.
KOTOR 2 however has been very glitchy and I got to a point early in the game where I can't stop any characters I'm not presently controlling from running towards a turret during battle and suiciding :disappointed:
I played X-Wing Alliance, Kotor 1 and 2 all in Windows 7 (ATI) with no problems. I did a bit of research though to find a whole load of fixes and tweaks (especially for XWA!).

There isn't a control on party 'mentality' or anything is there? e.g. telling them to attack enemies on sight or anything? Don't have the game installed anymore but I was a huge lover of KOTOR1 and still have never played through KOTOR2 and discovered the story!
This is worth a read http://www.pcgamer.com/play-x-wing-with-upgraded-graphics-trust-us-you-should/
The links are outdated, but talks about the XWA Upgrade.....also an ability to put the original Tie-Fighter missions into the XWA game (to get the benefit of improved graphics). I've done the XWA Upgrade, however haven't yet tried incorporating the missions from the original game. Has anyone tried that yet? Curious to if it also takes the story/cutscenes etc along or literally just the missions?
... touch paper lit, walking away...
Is a page covering the conversion of Tie Fighter, X-wing, and X-Wing Vs Tie Fighter into the XWA engine. It's very confusing though. XWA looks pretty modern with the XWA Upgrade however....now if only could get yaw/roll to work as they should
Empire at War is a light strategy game; it has a real-time(with adjustable speed) strategy layer, and real-time tactical space & ground combat systems for resolving battles.
I remember playing the original DOS port way back then on a 33Mhz Mac, complete with crappy low res EGA downgrade on my 640x480 display.
What do you think off the added games to bundle 16?
and what game(s) are left to add to the SW2 bundle
Tried trawling the internet regarding compatability issues, but nothings worked yet.
Dissapointing that Steam are suggesting that the games work on all Windows OS's up to 10, anybody else had any bother? O'h well, its a dollar to charity I guess, so wanted to play Galactic Battleground saga though LOL.
Ones I already have! Dammit!
Oh well, still a great bundle just for the games I didn't already have, even the ones that have taken some tweaking to get them to work!
