I'd even suggest starting with S01E02- Diversity Day - some good moments in that and the rest of the first season. Only the pilot episode was truly embarrassing. Agree that it didn't fully hit it's stride until the second season though.
It's also great to spot the guest stars/cameos - some well known faces pop up in this to varying degrees (Idris Elba, Amy Adams, Will Farell, Jack Black, Jim Carey, James Spader, Bob Odenkirk, Ricky Gervais, Kathy Bates etc)

Agree. The first episode of season 1 was a carbon copy of the UK version. In the first series Michael Scott was an idiot and not likeable at all. Further on in the later series he was still an idiot but much more likeable.

Steve Carell is brilliant.

I watched a couple of episodes but never got it. Was it meant to be less subtle for the Americans?
The UK version was true 'fly on the wall' and you got to observe a seemingly day-to-day office. But the American version was just too 'in your face' and didn't seem natural to me.

Awesome series, one of my favourite comedies. It got better and better. I don't know many people that have watched it, I think it completely missed the majority.

Hate to say it but not a great deal as not only has the set been £20.69 a few weeks ago (and yes I posted it thanks to wiggywig for putting link  ) but it was also £24.99 at HMV and Amazon for quite some time several months ago and no doubt will drop again at some point.
