The Wiimote refuses to maintain itself on and Nintendo made it clear enough that the user is only to use one of the two controllers indicated (WUPC or the GamePad).

I find it strange when Nintendo go out of their way to specifically exclude existing mainstream controllers from being compatible with a new game. It is not like this game has any unique or special controller requirements either.

My Amazon copy came in the post this morning and IT IS HUGE. I had to re-arrange my room to fit it in.
I don't even have a wiiu, but I will soon. Just waitin on that NX Backwards Compatibility.

Likewise mine is currently for ornamental purposes only. I wonder though whether the NX will even have a disc drive? In any case we can expect a price drop on the WiiU before year end so I'm waiting to see what happens.

As long as it identifies itself as a Wii U Pro Controller then it can. I'm using my Gioteck GC-2 to play TPHD. It's awesome.

Going to be using the Gamepad personally, it features gyroscopic aiming for ranged weapons like Splatoon, plus the second screen is used for inventory management.
Unless the aiming turns out awful, then i'll switch to the pro controller. Anyone tried it yet?

I've not tried it yet, just ordered this deal now.
But if my experience with Wind Waker HD is anything to go by, Gamepad is the only controller worth thinking about. As you say, gyro-aiming and inventory management really take it to the next level, playability-wise.

Paid £28 for this in the end. Managed to get the Amazon £35 pricing error honoured. Then the box was damaged on delivery, so got 20% refunded.
Currently scalping with the Amiibo and CD on eBay - want the game free if possible :innocent:
The games a bit boring tbh, so far at least. Epic walk and talk.
