To have the proper experience be sure that you play this with a New 3DS Standard/XL because it runs really poorly on an Old 3DS. It gets as low as 15fps and for a game like this it's unacceptable.
About the game:
Take the epic Hyrule Warriors experience on the go! Hyrule Warriors: Legends offers players the entire Hyrule Warriors game on Nintendo 3DS, but with even more content!
This time, Tetra, Toon Link and the King of Hyrule from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker join the Skull Kid from The Legend of Zelda: Majora
In addition, new character Linkle, a girl who lives in a small village filled with Cuccos and wields two crossbows, joins the large cast of playable characters
Players will be able to command multiple characters on the battlefield for strategic moves and immediately switch between any of them to be in the thick of battle at all times
Compatible with Nintendo 3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS, New 3DS, and New 3DS XL consoles

If you have an original 3ds or 2ds, I'd consider looking up stuff about it jugging on those systems.

The regular 3DS looks absolutely fine to me in that video

youtube footage shows some interesting differences. Its slick as hell on my new 3ds but I haven't played it on 3ds classic.

Well, it's a Warriors' game so effectively it has to but that doesn't say much. The O3DS also shows to have less enemies than the N3DS and Wii U versions which makes it look more peaceful ~ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVRC6RrwFQE
Some people's naked eyes can't notice slowdowns until they're faced with a superior version so it's your case.

I mean it plays exactly like a Warriors game and there is no noticeable slowdown.

Didn't know there was a demo I'll check it out now then as I was a bit undecided on it as I love them warriors games and loved hyrule Warriors on Wii u but was unsure how it'd run in 3ds

Well, please define "fine". HW is a fast-paced game and with slowdowns it breaks the immersion. And regarding you question, I've not not although it is not necessary since comparisons have shown it runs slower and is in fact ~ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2J98CvVau4

Have you actually played it on a regular 3DS or just going by what you've heard? The demo runs fine on my launch day original 3DS

It comes with a free DLC code to unlock 5 new characters on the Wii U version so that's certainly worth considering. I'm thinking about it for the mere purpose of obtaining this code.
