"New & improved bread" - larger slice & softer crumb. Thought this was pretty good for a toastie loaf - the Warburtons version is £1 upwards. Picked up some earlier.
A relative of mine works in a bakery that makes similar items for different retailers, so I reckon this would be just as good.
Available in Medium or Thick Slice, also Wholemeal varieties, see Post #12.

Warby's is still the bacon butty king as has larger slice dimensions....as well as......the mmmmm...... 'Super Toastie' variant.

Warby's is a Tory party donor and we all know how Cameron likes his bacon

Aldi's one which is currently 45p is better than the branded bread providing you get a nice fresh loaf. I might try this Tesco one if it feels soft and fresh as I tend to do most shopping there.

I got this last week didn't like it. Thought I'd try it as an alternative to my regular brand but it just didn't compare.

Morrisons doing it same price too.
British bakeries (Hovis) make (or at least used to) make tesco bread too. Hopefully the bread Kinsmill make for tesco, is better than their own tasteless stuff.

For me personally it's Scottish Plain Bread (Irish Batch is the same) all the way! Very rarely buy "pan" bread
About time Tesco has lowered the price of it's bread.

Was literally about to post this comment too ha! Also they seem to have really short BB dates on their bread. They are the worst supermarket for bread, with their short BB dates and prices. Hope this loaf is better.
The Toastie variety I bought has a best before of 9th March which isn't too bad (I freeze most of my bread anyway). I only have Express/Metro stores near me, haven't seen the Stay Fresh bread - might try it next time I'm in an Extra. Looks as though it might be discontinued though?

I remember the good old days when different sized slices of bread were called thin, medium and thick. Now we get medium, thick and "toastie".
Good deal on this bread by the way.

Think it's just bandwagon-jumping. To me "Toastie" is just Thick White bread. It's finding a toaster that does two Plain slices that's a challenge !

Wonder if the "larger slice and softer crumb" these are advertised as implies they're made in a different bakery?
