Someones English teacher is holding their hands up . The sink is usually in the kitchen.
The " basin " is usually in the bathroom. This is an under basin unit , and an expensive one at that.

I find the wood ones or wood effect ones tend to start peeling and falling to bits as they get all steamed up in a bathroom with a bath/shower or with just droplets that splatter on to it from the sink
