Are these the edited "special editions" of the trilogy (the ones with the "Greedo shot first" and the Vader "Nooo!" when Luke gets electroshocked by Darth Sidious?).

I thought the vader nooooooooooooooo was added to the bluray editions.

This is the version where Leia is checking Tinder on Hoth and agrees to dress up all fancy for Jabba the Hut. "Wehh, wehhh, my boyfriend don't pay no attention to me anymore since he been sealed up in carbonite!" - what a space-skank.

All DVD releases so far have been the same as the original 2004 DVD releases, which are the 1997 Special Editions (Greedo shoots first, digital Jabba in A New Hope) with a few additional changes on top of that (mostly colour correction to make them resemble the prequel trilogy). The original theatrical versions were released on DVD once, as special features on the second disc of 2-disc sets (so 2004 edition on disc 1 and a terrible transfer of the original version on disc 2) but those editions are quite rare.
And gemvis is correct - the 'Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!' was added in the Blu-Ray release, so you won't get that here.

Shame you can't even get the 'actual' original trilogy from a legitimate source. Thanks for nothing Lucas. Cold. Like space.
Thank God for dedicated Star Wars fans who remastered the originals and made versions getting rid of the lucas edits. Search for "Harmys despecialised editions"

Have you seen the new digital transfer/restoration of an original 35mm print of Star Wars by Team Negative 1? It's not despecialised - it's straight from the original theatrical source!

Never heard of them before, I'll check it out thanks

Wow that looks beautiful, I understand it was quite recently released which was why I never heard of it before. Seen on Harmys Facebook page that he recommends that over his despecialised editions (of which he also used some of team negative 1s content).

Yeah I think it got released in January but I only heard about it a couple of weeks ago. It's pretty much the Holy Grail for fans who want to see the films as they originally were - the only thing better would be an official version from LucasFilm/Disney but that's unlikely to happen. Now we just have to hope that they can get hold of some 35mm prints of Empire and Jedi...

Yep it really is like the Holy Grail. Some cinemas when ANH was released played 70mm versions which would be the even better Holy Grail, but I was born 15 years later so 70mm doesnt matter, the 35mm would be enough for me.

Downloaded and watched the 35mm. Some scenes from the sand areas on Tatooine are very grainy, C3P0 needs sharpening up in some scenes in particular dark areas eg in Luke's house on Tatooine etc, some light correction needed on jawas in the exit of the sandcrawler, sharpening in general required on a few scenes which seem out of focus. Otherwise it's a great copy and would recommend for those who want the legitimate theatrical copy instead of the "special edition" edited copies.
