Love my Z2. Had it 28 months and can see myself being happy for at least another year.

My only reason for not buying this is my Z1 is still good after 30 months, and although I'm happy with it, when I do change it I'll probably try a different brand just for the shake up.

Had one before swapping to Z5 compact. Great phone but be careful when pushing the power button, sometimes gets stuck into the case...

This is very true, also have issues in regards to phone insurance when purchased from ebay etc.
Great price for a great phone though. Sony phones deserve more recognition. Superb battery life as well.

I don't think your bank statement shows what you bought. It is just sum of who you pay your money to. It dosn't show "sony z5 blablabla - £xxx", does it? How is that a prove of purchase? It could be anything.

Well under The Sale of Goods Act and other related legislation makes no requirement on the trader to provide a receipt to a customer at the time of sale so it would be unfair to say that you have to produce one to obtain a refund; however the trader may reasonably request you to provide some proof of purchase and this can be in the form of a bank statement, i assume the law is about the same under the 2015 consumer act

Ordered a Z5 in January for £380-ish. Luckily the shop messed up the order, I cancelled and bought a uleFone Power instead after much research.

Saved £250 and have a similar spec* phone, also this goes 3+ days on a charge. :smiley:

Worth a go,sounds exactly the same as mine,i sent mine back to Sony directly and they returned a new phone.

You can't compare branded device with something from a Chinese seller without warranty no matter the specs are same

The whole world is not stupid, although I myself looking for a Chinese phone few days ago then I just bought a premium phone

Love the phone, I generally spend £3-400 on a recognised 'flagship' every 3 years or so, this was the first lesser known brand I've bought (except an 'SPV' ages ago, Orange branded but made by HTC before they got famous) Suspect uleFone and e.g. Xiami/Honor etc. could be the next HTC's.

Was gearbest, no problems whatsoever, tracked all the way including a photograph of your actual parcel with the address on. Paid with Paypal so if there are any issues you just open a dispute if needs be.

My point is your bank statement has ~0 information/detail about the product you purchase. How you can prove it is payment of said product? If you do not have a receipt, "request you to provide some proof of purchase" is quite a burden if you see what I mean. If such back statement can prove purchase of product A, the same transaction can also prove purchase of product B of similar amount. But hey, which is which? I do not think that "proof" will be accepted in court, unless you can request more details of that particular transaction, showing a link to said product.

Still sticking with my Z2 as I have magnetic charging dock's both at work and home, surprised that there was no magnetic charging port or wireless charging on the Z5 as I liked the specs apart from the charging options. Now due to the Z series being canned by Sony I am having some serious looks at the Samsung S7 :wink:

Twice the storage, more ram, much faster CPU, fingerprint sensor, better camera, less leakable flaps covering ports, quick charging...

It has quite a few reasons going for it but like you I'm still using a Z2 as I'm waiting for the Premium to start dropping in price to a lower £400 mark.

They've done away with the magnetic port because the USB is no longer covered so less hassle plugging in now.

you also have the Sony X performance. although I'm not sure if the UK will get it?

​Show me where the Z5 is worth 3 times the amount the Power. It has a few more bands, a gyroscope and barometer. Oh and a slower lens (f/2.0 compared to f/1.:sunglasses: a newer sensor (I've compared the IMX-214 with the IMX230, apart from more megapixels no improvement in IQ). No gorilla glass, half the battery capacity, less efficient SoC etc.. Oh it has waterproofing, but I tend not to take my phone swimming. :smirk:

Like I said, I was relieved they sent a refund as when I was waiting for it to be sent I'd discovered the uleFone and thought I'd have to argue for a return on the Z5.

It doesn't matter where it is purchased from - If you register your phone on the Sony website using the IMEI code - It will tell you when the 2 year warranty expires. This applies if its secondhand also (in the case of my old Z1 Compact).

They do have a choice, and you have a choice to pursue them legally as a recourse. However you'll be doing this personally as no authoritative body has the ability or inclination to do it for you, although they can and will give advice.
I chose in the end after three weeks to keep my sanity rather than going round in circles with their absolutely abysmal tech support, I chose to fix it myself in the end, it was _easier_ than a protracted legal battle with them. I even had to pay £20 to get my phone back - return shipping and handling charge. I see some of you had better luck than me, if you did, good for you.
Of course now it's moot because my warranty is well and truly voided. Lessons learned, moving on... :smiley:

No, I am in full agreement, they should honour the warranty. But they told me they wouldn't and would only consider it if I was provided with original invoices from sony to the ebay seller. Which seller is going to provide those? It's obvious they're unobtainable, they're definitely confidential, no ebay seller is going to send you their supplier invoices.

As it happens, that was only their first excuse. You see in my case, the problem was, I'd bought it directly off amazon. So they had to go away and find another reason once I proved this by writing a letter enclosing invoice from amazon. You'd think it would be easier to fix a phone, right?

Don't assume that having the law on your side is going to help, unless you are willing to fight, which will cause you a lot of stress, and they know it. Hardly any scorned consumers ever do fight wrongdoings, most just bear a grudge. So here's my grudge.

You don;t need supplier invoices.. by invoice all you need is an invoice from the ebay seller. As they operate as business they are likely to send individual invoices out on there headed paper which do not have ebay connotations attached to them. I buy off plenty of buisiness on ebay who send proper invoices. If they don't send a proper VAT invoice you are entitled to request one.

I've bought it anyway. If in doubt e-mail the seller and ask them if they provide a proper invoice for warranty purposes.

I'll upgrade to latest Sony phone when this Z2 dies. Still a slick premium phone.

Sorry kind of misread your first post, sounds like you found a jobsworth at the Sony center who wanted to take you for a ride. I've never had a Sony phone before or warranty issue with them, if i had one like yours i would probably be done with them... but used some friends phones and have been impressed so decided to move on from an iPhone to this, and its a decent price for a flagship, albeit this is 6 months out of date the next option is the S7 which is £550+.

This is really nice phone, however has some overheating issues (due to Snapdragon 810). Might be worth waiting for some nice upgrade with 820.
Also performance-wise it's definitely something in the middle of the stake, but [obviously] interface is snappy, phone is very nice, screen is perfect, battery is OK for such phone (comparing to the competitors), partially thanks to Stamina mode, and micro SD port, this is certainly an option.
Just remember to buy yourself some decent launcher :smiley: (nova is more than OK, today for 50p @ GooglePlay)

Good deal, last year in April I soend 300£ for my z2, now..it.a allll cracked, display nit so well too :smiley:)...
