No USB recording yet, only seems to be HDD hard drive recording. USB recording i think is at the end of the month.

I take it the recordings will be encrypted i.e. it doesn't just dump it as an mp4?

Youview is pants on the TV anyway, very slow and basically just short cuts to the separate catch-up apps anyway, I use a Now Tv box instead for catch up but will be using it less now the recording is available.

Hi Paul, any particular usb make to use? I had just read on the 8th March update that it did not support USB yet, but if you says it works then I'll give it a go.

It was offered at that price at least 3 times over xmas. I bought one myself and with student discount it cost me £570. Even at £700 it's a deal.

I've just bought the 55inch Samsung 6400 at £650. I never considered 4K ams the TV a bought is supposed to have to best hd screen on any 55inch tv. Given the incipient problems compatibility and format issues with 4K I really feel it's best to steer clear. I also play games at 3840x2160 res I I've read that 4K panels have problems with lag, image stability and blurring. On paper this song looks a good deal but I'd advice caution and go for a top quality HD panel. My new to looks truly stunning and games really are astonishing to look at.

ditching my 1080 LG tv while it was still worth something and ditching my humax recorder - as the telly now supports recording to hdd (both i sold on ebay) kept the cost down. i think now is the perfect time to switch to 4k and offload your hd tech while it has some value to it on resale.
btw this is tv is good. its not oled but oled is expensive.
i have a xbone connected with usb tuner, wd 2tb passport for recording tv and onkyo stereo.

xbone is likely to work as a pvr soon, which will free up my hard drive for 4k digital movies

i read that latest sony TVs with the android software is laggy and slows the TV down. does this apply to this particular model?
Spacehduk to thefinest1
12 Mar 161#41
Yes it does. But it's mainly apps and other 'smart TV' stuff which is a bit laggy. If you only use it as a TV or a panel for a sky box etc, then you won't experience much, if any lag.

If you type the model code on Amazon you will have 2 prices, one at £749 and £615. If you go to the one at £615 and go to the new and used options, this is for sale at £599 under co-op electrical. It says the TV is brand new. Just thought I would put that in there.

The one that is £615 is the 49" where you can get from Costco for £479.98 next week.

Best thing with the Sony TVs is the fact it's android meaning you can get Kodi from the apps store meaning loads of movies
