In fact evans is doing £5 off a £40 spend so they are actually currently the cheapest place to get this groupset as far as I know?

The 6800 cassette was only a tenner more when I needed to replace mine so did a like for like swap. Don't think I would have noticed the difference though and as my bike ages and makes its transition to winter bike I will be replacing any worn components with 5800 for sure.
Ditto comments about the brakes. Although I haven't tested 5800 brakes for myself reviews say that 6800 brakes are superior and they are in my experience really very very good.
I admit that I paid my extra £150-200 or so for 6800 over 5800 based mainly on snobbery and prestige rather than "bang for buck" or measureable performance benifits - but
I enjoy owning and riding it and in the end that's what matters to me.

Not sure you'd notice the difference in cassettes. I run 5800 cassette and chain, as the 6800 is twice the price, and I can't tell any difference.

105 brakes are extremely similar - braking power between 5800 and 6800 is the same - only difference is the bolt/quick release on Ultegra is "notched" allowing you to open it up a little bit mid ride. 105 is either on or off.

According to reviews, the weak link between 6800 and 5800 are the brakes. Not sure it's worth the difference?

Decent deal but they had to bring the price of Ultegra down as the new incarnation of the 105 groupset (5800) is incredibly similar to Ultegra performance.
I have 105 (5800) on my winter bike and Ultegra (6800) with di2 on my best bike. Apart from the di2 aspect, this hardly any performance difference. Everyone I ride with and have ridden both agree. So, in my humble opinion, this is a better deal:
Yes the 5800 is excellent value but it has inferior brakes and rear cassette to the 6800 and of course serious cyclists will always wish for the lighter groupset....but if on a tight budget the 5800 is certainly an excellent option.
i know its £450, but it comes with a bottom bracket and gives you more options to choose from, crank length, cage type, cassette type front and rear, just another option for people interested

I'm really enjoying my ultegra 6800 groupset. Easily the best I've used - have some heat.
