We can agree to disagree. I will not stop.
I point out what I noticed on the "brand new hard drive" over the phone, they agreed with me to send it back and refund me. That is their damage control. It does not means the faking does not count. A lot of people complained that they sell open box, used as brand new. This is the first time I experience a seller actually faking something to be brand new.
Of course, after this experience, I do not like them. What they did disgust me.
If I knew you are going to try to find this excuse for them, I would have pay attention to see where the HDD was actually sending from. Now, there is no prove on this bit.

That fact that they exchanged your faulty item without quibble, then you proceed to complain about the company (seemingly repeatedly), when you cannot even be sure it was them, points more to an issue with you than them.
Put yourself in their shoes. They did everything they should have done, yet you still complain about repeatedly in an open forum.

Do I need to worry about their supply chain or where they get their stock from as a consumer? Be realistic.

How do you know it was them? There are often several organisations in the supply chain. How are you so sure that you are happy to state your claim as a fact?
Taking the HDD back could simply be a sign of a decent reseller offering a no quibble warranty.

Yes, I did it twice now including this one. I feel that I am not doing it frequently enough, twice in few months.
For deal/someone actively promote Novatech, I will tell the story. Just hope people did not know will be made aware of the facts.
What Novatech did or maybe still doing is very unethical. They went so far to fake it. If I were thinking buying something from Novatech, I would like to know if they did or are doing thing like that.
You can only stop me if what I say is untrue.
If you already heard the story or not interested, you can simply ignore.
I do not know if you are connected to Novatech or not, but I would like to think people act in good faith from their own heart. So I am not even question you on that.
If deals/someone promotes Novatech, give a balanced view and states that
"Please take into consideration that, there is a risk as people reported that Novatech was/is faking used hard drives as brand new."
Sure, I will leave it alone.

Do not buy from Novatech.
They sell used HDD as brand new. Nov 2015, I bought a brand new 2TB HDD from them. They print fake white label to fake the production date and stick over the original on the HDD. The fake label is so thin I can see through that there was another label beneath it. They put the used HDD in those hard drive plastic bag, seal it, and sold to me as brand new.
I called them and told them what I found, and returned the HDD no problem.
But I am disgusted by what they did or are doing. I refuse to buy anything from them.

What is a good drive? I have had San Disk pen drives in the past and they have failed causing me to lose data. I'm looking for reliability over speed as anything will be a massive improvement over my Dell fitted HDD

so far yes. I stuck it in as a system disk in a 5 year old laptop from Stone, and it now performs really well and on par with a modern HDD laptop. This where SSD's come into their own in my opinion. I have a gaming PC, a server and a HTPC, all with SSD's of different capacity and from different manufacturers. All are superb and I really couldn't tell any difference in performance. Can anyone, when we're talking MS difference in xfer rates?
We've bought literally several hundred SSD's at work (I work in a University) over the past 2 years and, to date, not had a single failure from any manufacturer.

I've been working out which SSD to go for for several months now, and as far as I can tell, for performance and reliability Samsung Evo drives are still one of the safest options http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00P73B1E4

You're right and that's why this isn't a deal
The sandisk low-end range comes up VERY often on hukd. 40 for 240, 80 for 480, etc.
Not a premium drive, and the shorter warranty and performance reflect this
buy at your own risk - or spend a few extra quid and get a good drive. The cost difference isn't 2x like it used to be when it was just OCZ vs Intel in the game :P

I bought the 480gb version of this a couple of weeks ago. Although as some have commented it's not the fastest SSD available it certainly feels like a significant upgrade from my old mechanical hard drive. Haven't tried it in gaming yet, but loading programs, particularly when clicking on a PDF, jpg or video, things are much quicker.
