Just went to the C&C desk and paid...it was a big store and they just phone the warehouse round the back for the item to be brought down so the price didn't really enter into it. Must have been showing the reduced price on the computer and I assume nothing flagged up.

People see 4k and get giddy thinking its the dogs. Low end 4k's offer nothing to a good quality full hd. Have I spelt everything correctly before spelling and grammar police turn up. The deal was never there anyway so life goes on

'Low end' 4k TV's are pretty much a match for their (note the correct their, there, they used!) HD equivalent models. Bores go on about some panels like LG's RGBW panels like they know what they're on about and fail to realise that unless a buyer is planning on spending a couple of hundred quid in getting a tech to come and calibrate it in their home they aren't really going to see any difference in the panels.
Simple truth is a cheap panel of any sorts isn't going to have the black levels of a high end unit because it's the back lighting and processing that does most of that work, not the pixels on the screen!

If I had the money I would, without a shadow of doubt buy the Panasonic TX-58DX902B or TX-65DX902B. Panasoinc have the most colour accurate pictures going, not to mention excellent motion handling & up scaling. Two problems with this TV 1) The stand is the width of the TV, so you would need a big unit or have it wall mounted. 2nd) Not a real problem but might be for you. They do not do a 55", only 58" & 65" (If you have the room and money I would get personally get the 65" as 4K is not that noticeable on a 55" TV unless you sit very close)

I'd warn anyone against very low end 4k tv's, you want some form of higher colour gamut to make use of 4k content, with samsung thats the nano crystal so you want the 6800 at a minimum and even that doesn't have HDR.

Ok, I'm still considering one of the LG OLEDs, but I've seen some great looking LED sets as well.
What would you guys recommend for the following requirements
1) Must be 55-inch and FLAT Screen only (I don't want a curved set, and most manufacturers are ditching curves)
2) Must be future proof and have HDR and 4K (not bothered about 3d its just a gimmick which will be dropped soon)
3) Not bothered if OLED or LED
4) Must be good at upscaling Standard definition
5) Reasonable fast responsive remote
6) Cost aside, just recommend me the best combined set for the above spec.

Got to agree there's no way id buy a tv from curry's your far better with Richer Sounds or John Lewis.
As for low budget 4k's please spend some time doing your homework and read up on such sets as there crap.

My friend has the 48 version..sure doesn't look like c**p to me...although I do agree JL with the warranty is a better option

I'm all for doing the research and looking at the stats and specs. But nothing competes with getting a set demoed with the kind of content you'd normally watch - John Lewis are great for this.
I bought a 'budget 4k' and It's quite simply the best looking panel I've used (and there have been many over the years). Every single thing I've pushed through it from blu-ray, SD, HD, 4k, local to streamed looks simply stunning. Couldn't be happier. I'd recommend that buying approach to anyone rather than just relying on others opinions. At the end of the day reviews and third-party opinion can only get you so far. When you sit down and watch it's got to be good for you. Same with any subjective medium.
For me, I don't care for Samsung TVs. I find the colours are always too saturated even after adjustment and I don't like the software. But where's the point in yelling they're c**p from the rooftops? Many people love them.
I don't like them but I'd just say to any perspective buyer, go see and try it for yourself.
This seems to be a good price for this particular model so, as this is a deals site, voting hot.

Guys really... buying anything from currys over 200 qyis is dumb the customer service is a joke! Even with the extra cover they dont really cover you... ive had trouble tvs in the past my current one is a replacement from them but they only match spec so you pay all the cover costs over the years and when it ends up knackered they give you a model that matches spec but its spec from 2 year ago lol... theyve taken my tv away twice to replace the screen but didnt do a very good job and the tv ended up with buzzing noises and crap.
Stick to amazon they swap the tv out and your golden.
