If you're spending over £500 on a smartphone it should either come with a hardcase to protect it or be indestructible

Good deal but if you're going to spend over £500 on a phone, at least spend £5-10 on a decent case + tempered glass.

they are ok compared to the ridiculous prices charged for branded cases. but there always seems to be moisture trapped between the back of the phone and the case.

Considering a half of whatever the s7 costs it is paid for the premium feel why would you use a case? It is like paying extra for leather seats in your car and covering thrm with cloth for protection.... Use your brain people
If you're going to spend over £500 on a phone why cover it in anything? I peronsally find the whole craze of covering phones in nasty ugly covers and cheap screen protectors bizarre. It's a phone, it's designed to be used. Who cares about the odd scratch? I certainly don't.

The point is if you're spending half a grand plus then spending a few extra quid won't hurt much, (accidents may happen and insurance can take time/hassle).

For first 12 months Samsung is replacing every smashed phone for FREE as long as you have receipt with your name on it and phone was bought from one of certified retailers (to find on samsung uk website)
Phone has to be bought before end of June. Confirmed  I might be even run over by a train they will replace it with new one for free.

Got a source on that? Find it hard to believe & can't see it on Samsung site.

You'd rather pay 10-15quid a month in insurance than buy a decent case?
Phone insurance is the modern iq test which you fail as soon as you sign up for it.

**Free** repairs to your S7 within **one hour**..........if you live in South Africa!
Has anyone found a decent tempered glass (one that actually fits the screen) for the S7? Ordered some that say FULL COVERAGE but have left a large gap around the edge of the phone

+1 but on the edge model still looking for one myself and wondering if anyone has found a descent screen protector at a "good" price point
It is weird can't find source from UK online but offer is called Samsung Guard and it cover all Europe it was confirmed by my friend who works in Samsung Service Centre

Isn't the problem with the edge that you cannot get either a case or a screen protector that completely covers and protects the edges? The edge on either side is always exposed in some way?

Not really, I purchased one off eBay for around £15. Full coverage, no touch issues, but...
It looks horrible on the phone, IMO. Has a mirror finish and the gold "electroplating" on the top and bottom of the glass protector makes it look very cheap (the gold colour is nowhere near the colour of the phone). But for now, it's doing the job of protecting the phone, until something better comes out. I believe ZAGG will be introducing their version by the end of summer...

Yes I was like you and used to think why buy a beautiful looking phone and then cover it in cheap plastic? That was until I went and dropped from the fireplace my 1 month old Z3 which I paid £450 for when it came out and smashed the screen to smithereens which then became unusable. I could only get £150 out of it so lost £300 in a matter of a month. If I had had a decent case on it I would still be able to sell it for a decent price today or would still be using it.
As much as I hate cases and glass protectors if you ever plan on selling your phone to get decent money towards your next phone purchase keep it in a decent case with a glass protector. Since making the mistake with the Z3 my new phone has been kept in a case covered with a glass protector since day one and to this day (after many drops) still looks brand new when I take it out of the case).
I can see the appeal certainly after damaging one. I choose not to buy phones with glass backs though and it tells. Any of the past 4 HTC flagships I've had, including my One M9, have taken a few drops and survived. I wanted to change to Sony or Samsung last year but both phones appeared way too fragile for me. Maybe if I damage one it will change my mind as I don't insure phones either. The last phone of mine damaged was a BlackBerry 8900 that my wife decided to accidentally take for a bath after a few drinks.
Wait and see, I've just cursed my One M9 to a painful and expensive death!

No no, a proper tempered glass protector. Not this plastic one.
It's going to be released in the next few months.

That is it isn't it - the Zagg screen protector for the S6. Presumably the S7 version will be the same with slightly different dimensions?

Samsung are good with faulty phones, they replaced the logic board for free just under 2 years of purchase.

Samsung phones have a 2 year warranty so that just sounds normal to me.

No, completely different. Zagg are calling it "Glass contour".
Interesting. Hope it works satisfactory. Long time though until it comes out. They need to pull their finger out.
Wonder why they never bothered making one for the S6 Edge.

Totally agree with you. Considering how people were clamouring for premium materials I find it amazing that S6/S7 and iPhone owners have to encase the premium materials in any budget or premium case at all!
The whole point of the "premium" phone is so that you could feel it in your hand and appreciate the build quality every time you pick it up. If you're going to encase it in a case then all phones practically look the same and it would be preferable for the chassis to be made from cheaper non-premium materials to keep costs down!
If the case is only there to protect your investment so you could part exchange it for a better price when you next upgrade then why buy the premium phone in the first place?
If it is only so that you could tell someone you have a premium phone entombed in that ugly chunky case then I'm more than willing to take that £700 from you and to provide a letter confirming I have purchased a "premium" phone on your behalf and have it in a bank safe deposit box on the condition that after a year I would sell it for you and return £650 to you because luckily it is still in mint condition. This would prevent any possible risk of accidentally damaging the phone yourself and not being able to get a good price for it!
The letter could be framed and displayed to show people that you are the owner of a premium phone. Maybe the letter could be shrunk down to a keyfob size too, so it could be carried around with you (of course I will provide a keyfob protector to protect your investment) :stuck_out_tongue:
Seriously though, the only protector I think is ok are tempered glass protectors as they provide the same look and feel of the original glass. Any other form of protector or case just defeats the purpose of a premium build phone.

Wrong. I have an S6 and I really look after my phone. I accidentally dropped it, if you see what the meaning of accidental is, you'll see that applies to everyone as a possibility. I had a tempered screen protector and the fall took out a chunk of the screen protector not actual glass of the screen. A plastic back won't prevent that from happening.
