If you're eligible for a pay and go upgrade from Carphone Warehouse, then this phone can be bought for £99 unlocked. It comes in black, white and gold colours.
If you don't need a sim select the phone press f5 and quickly scroll down to use existing sim box that will appear. For some reason Vodafone has hidden it at the moment.

Wow you have to be quick ( would add its on the next page once you click pick phone). I have the A5 and they are basically the same phone. the A5 has 2gb ram over 1.5gb for the j5. i will be buying this for a relative asap.

As you have the A5 are you running any apps off an sd card? as with other devices I've used I found moving apps to sd card was a bit flaky, assuming they can be moved in the first place. Slightly more important with the J5 as it only has 8GB to start with.

do not purchase from Vodafone worst customer service ever. I ordered this phone from them 2 weeks ago on Wednesday and was told multiple times I would recieve it on Saturday then Sunday then when I rang in on monday I was told my order didn't go through.
I reordered this the same day and for 2 days they couldn't find my order even though the order appeared as a pending transaction both times.
I cancelled best thing I ever did.
I then ordered from cpw this Wednesday around 5 30pm and there was a payment issue as my bank refused the funds they took the payment instantly and it went through as it was Easter I was supposed to recieve my phone tomorrow but received it on Saturday even during the holidays and the phone is unlocked and 5.25 too cashback.
I am posting from my j5 right now.
Vodafone want 19.99 to unlock your phone aswell.
it cost me 119.99 and a 10 pound virgin too up last time I checked handset had gone back up to 124.99 well worth the price.

If you mean what's located in Android > Data on your sd card, that's just the app user data/cache etc, not the actual app itself, you have to go into each app individually in Settings > Apps and select "move to sd card" to move the actual app.

Whatever you do don't buy online from Vodafone.
Worst experience ever.
I had purchased a handset online, payment went through, was out for delivery then for for no apparent reason the handset was recalled back by Vodafone.
I had to chase Vodafone for my refund which took about 3 weeks to come after calling them several times.

Have ordered a SU6 through Voda online so will wait and see, but my experience of 10 years as a customer has been pretty good. Yes they f***k up sometimes, but always resolve it. Phones come when they say, and also if you're super OCD like me they're very good at taking phones back.
I normally get flagships and given the cost I'm quite picky about stuff like button alignment/general quality control etc. They exchange for brand new with no issues at all in first 14 days.

Thanks Dealsrus for your continued help.
Just to explain a bit further
Son is currently on Three payg - using an iphone which we bought second hand.
He now would like to change to the J5, but max amount he can spend is £100.
Three don't appear to offer payg upgrades.
Wife has pay monthly SIM on Virgin, using this to purchase J5, when I try to upgrade but it only seems to offer the phone on a monthly contract whereas I want to buy outright.
Nanny has a Vodafone payg sim. Tried using this but CPW said upgrade was not accepted. Contacted CPW and they quoted the same as you above.
Nanny has not topped up for ages but coincidently now needs to! :-)
She plans to top-up £10 today and then another £10 on Sat, so presumably this would satisfy the top-up criteria? But what are these chargeable events that you CPW have mentioned - what are they?
Also assuming I can get this to process eventually (on Vodafone), once I get the phone I am assuming(?) that I can just move the sim from sons iphone to the J5 and use as normal as I understand that all phones purchased via CPW are unlocked.
Welcome your feedback.
Thanks
Simon

Chargable events are when you use minutes texts data at a cost this just shows you use your phone and your number is active as with the top up I suggest you top up if you are already going to and try it then.
There's no harm in trying.
All cpw phones are sold unlocked so there would be no issue putting a three SIM in.
Also if you are able to wait they might drop this phone further as the new version is coming out. just search in google samsung galaxy j5 2016. after a few weeks/month's there is likely to be a price decrease as the mainly would only to stick up on the new one
either way the to make the purchase online so then you can recieve 5.25 cashback from topcashback

That is the current issue with the j5 but if we get the marshmellow update we can choose you use the micro sd card as internal storage which allows all apps to run in it.
but beware if you use the sd card as internal storage the sd card is only encrypted to that specific phone and if you put it in a computer or another device it won't be able to read it.
Also for this you need a high speed at card for it to work properly preferably read speed around 80 mb
these can be around 10 pound for 64 gb someone on giffgaff community recommended
