This was a deal on here 2 months ago (at which point the same company were selling the 4gb ram version for £89.99) - now it's back but a fiver cheaper.

I own this laptop and have not (yet) got round to putting an SSD in but have to say it's pretty fast without it for day to day stuff

Good company and prices. I had an I5 4gb Dell Latitude 6420 in pristine condition for £135 and when i got it i had a problem with windows updates. They promptly replied and teamviewed me to sort it out. They still offer help 4 months down the line. Heat for this too as it is a really good price.

Just checked the CPU benchmarks - this one has a lower score (1623) than the one I posted (which is 1683) + it's obviously more expensive so I think the deal I posted is a bit better but there's not that much in it obviously

don't guys, I got a i5 X220 in decent condition for £64 the other day, just without a hard drive. keep an eye out on newly listed and you can get some great stuff - take a look at the Dell E6220 at around £90 for a 2nd gen i5 machine
heat from me, got one for £68 with the 20% code, perfect for my daughters coursework.

What 20% code? Is it a recent one? Cheers

would this be any better than an aging Dell Inspiron 1.something Ghz Core 2 Duo with 3Gb RAM I think.
Have an SSD I could put in.

I tend to use CPU benchmarks as a guide but if you're going to put an SSD in anyway then any Core 2 Duo that is 2.00ghz or more is generally worth having, I wouldn't buy one less than 2.00ghz or less than about 1300-1400 benchmark score.

This would be ideal but I need a bigger HDD. Any cheap refurb suggestions?
They definitely are wifi enabled (I have one) - cant remember offhand if there's HDMI or a webcam. Not sure why the sim thing would be relevant nowadays - anyone that wants to connect to 3G or 4G would surely just enable a wireless hotspot on their phone.....NB: If you include the processor details when you're googling the model number it should come up with specs for the correct version. (If you just google the model number it gets confusing as there's versions with diff processors)
Then say choose which one your one looks like and they all have different specs.
Reviews I looked at had issues , so perhaps better with another make or model?

"Refurbished" is their word not mine - it's a subjective term. They make it quite clear that these are not "like new" as they state that they will show minor signs of use. The operating system will be a new install and I know from previous experience of them they will data-wipe their hard drives first so I don't think it's too inappropriate to use this word. Any probs you get 14 days to return for a refund anyway.

Hot!
I got one of these last time round. Ordered it with 2 GB RAM and got 4 GB instead. The HDD was also larger. It wasn't in too bad shape (some on here got much worse) either. The only negative was that the AC power adapter died a few weeks after, but they replaced it very quickly (next day delivery), so overall quite pleased with everything and would buy again.

I don't get your point....These are listed as "seller refurbished" as per Ebay's definition which is as follows:-
"An item that has been restored to working order by the eBay seller or a third party not approved by the manufacturer. This means the item has been inspected, cleaned and repaired to full working order and is in excellent condition. This item may or may not be in its original packaging"
If you buy one and it doesn't meet this standard then send it back. If you send something back because the seller has misrepresented it you wont have to pay postage.

tHis is exactly my point, these are not refurbished they are second hand with a clean windows install.... 14 days return has no relevance to it being refurb or used (dsr etc...)

If there's a problem, you have to return it to Portsmouth.

I'd seriously recommend swapping out the dvd drive for a hdd bay, and then putting the hdd in there and buying a cheap ssd to run as a boot drive. I bought one for my Mother and was so impressed, I've got an identical one myself!

Some models of this contain a sim card . Really annoying when manufacturers such as this produce a manual for the same model :
