I've got the same one, they take es bulbs and if you do put a cfl or led in there there isnt much more space than a regular halogen bulb. if you can live within those restrictions, which I could its great. I use corn cob style led in mine and its got loads of light. It also has a reflector behind the bulb.
It's also got a point where you can connect an external light connected in parallel with the built in light, which I use to power a bulk head light nearby.
hope this helps....

Great light unless you have an uphill drive, then even with half the |PIR taped off you still get detections from cars going past or people on the pavement. Still in use though

Can anyone confirm if this light fitting is capable of switching other lighting.

not designed for that purpose
however, you may make it work by changing internal wiring

Dumb question..
Can this be wired to run from a 3 pin mains plug, or does it need to be connected to the lighting circuit?

No such thing as a dumb question' mine is wired to a 5 amp plug - works perfectly fine
Anyone know if you can turn the PIR off on this and leave on all the time sometimes should you wish? Also, can you link several together on one light system?

Q&A: Q: Does this light have an over ride, to keep the light on? A:This product does not have an override function, it can only be operated manually.

14 Mar 16#32
yes you can as the light and pir sections are separate and can be "tapped" and seperated to suit your needs.

Thanks, did not see this light reduction on their website or brochure before. Looks like plenty of stock as it say order and collect the next day . For those on their mailing list look for the voucher sent last week for a free power bank.

IP44 (ingress Protection 44) means that the device should not have any gaps greater than 1mm and water splashing against the enclosure from any direction will have no harmful effect. However, if you buy an IP65 rated device and do not reseal your entry points with IP65 rated fittings you might end up with something worse than IP44. Screwfix should really make this clearer.

as ling as the height and width of the bulb isnt more than a standard halogen then you should be fine

Thanks for the link.
It's to be plugged into the side of my garage which has mains plug sockets, but no lighting circuit.
So the plug will be inside.

Ah, I see. In that case it would be perfectly legal to fit a flex, drill a hole through the wall to a plug and use the socket. If the light is not permanently connected (not wired in to the power or light circuit) then it will not be notifiable work. It still must be protected by a 30mA RCD (you could fit a RCD plug or socket if the DB does not have one covering that circuit - if the garage is a long way from the DB I'd fit another RCD anyway). Use some exterior flex (you should be able to find someone to sell you a few meters rather than buy a whole reel) and include a drip loop on the outside). .
