The higher the Mah battery for example 2750MaH AA batteries will last a long time compared to a 2100MaH AA battery. The 2750Mah will take a long time charge compared to 2100MaH

Most basic cars have 5 AA for the car plus a 9v for the remote so 9 in total seems about right.

The only downside using rechargeable AA batteries in RC vehicles is... they run slightly lower voltages.
For example a bog standard AA battery runs at 1.5volts, most rechargeable AA batteries only put out 1.2volts.
I've had RC cars fail to operate when using rechargeable batteries, most RC toys will not recommend using the toy on rechargeable's, will say this in the intructions or on the box.

Or you could go to poundland and buy 10 batteries for a quid.

So you have to buy an AA battery charger & 10 rechargeable AA batteries. I haven't seen a charger that charges more than 4 batteries at a time, so you have to charge 4, then another 4, and finally another one. That must take up the best part of a day. That, together with the cost of the charger and batteries, and the electricity used charging doesn't make this a very cheap item.
