Does anyone know if the taken king dlc becomes obsolete or partly obsolete when the new April update comes out? Ive already got destiny and expansion I & II but wanted to get this just for taken king dlc. Thanks in advance

No, you need the Taken King dlc to be able to play the updated stuff, plus there raising the light level of the drops from the Kings fall raid.

Every new DLC introduces new more powerful weapons/ armour making the previous one obsolete. As In understand it, this is an update not DLC so you should be ok. The best kit drops from raids so make sure you have five companions.

The best armour/weapons will drop from the prison of elders with the new update(light level 335), kings fall raid will only drop 320 on normal and 330 on hard.

Most of Bungie is supposedly working on Destiny 2, only the "Live Team" are producing smaller updates for TTK.
