Is that a good thing or bad? Can't decide whether to wait and get a 4K.

bought a 55" lg from Richer sounds . pic quality is superb.
Had a look in currys to compare pictures but screens set up in a way that the more profitable tvs were fed hi def/ 4k . tbf the lg didnt look too good , but after reading reviews and specs i went for the lg against a Samsung suhd. saved over £400 against the samsung & the picture is no different . superb quality .
Do research cant go wrong !
Looking to get a LG 50 inch .. Only negative thing I read about them is they have noticeable motion lag?gaming etc

I have a 49" 4K LG but I've not actually tried gaming on it yet. I know it does have a game mode which does *something* as when you select it the picture goes blank for a moment then comes back and although I've got an xbox connected I'm yet to actually trying playing on it (Tend to play PC games more)

Difficult to see why you'd want to buy this from John Lewis when you can get it for exactly the same price from Richer Sounds with an extra year on the warranty - and it's far more likely to go wrong in the 6th year than the 5th.

What happens if your Richer Sounds TV goes wrong & you need to get checked out ?
Do you have to get it back to the shop ?
Do they send an engineer out ?
John Lewis send an engineer, then come & collect it, if it is written off, when they deliver your new TV.
Not knocking RS, just inquisitive over the procedures as sometimes the complete package with backup policies needs to be taken into account.

All checked out with Richer Sounds and OK - I had the same doubts myself!
If it goes wrong they send out an engineer, and it so happens that they use the same firm in this area that John Lewis use. John Lewis have an excellent reputation for customer service (though it's slipping, I've found). Richer Sounds have been around for a very long time and have an equally good reputation.
Actually, check out the Trustpilot reviews for each - it might shock you, as it did me. John Lewis come out appallingly badly, and Richer Sounds remarkably well.

WebOS 2.x is a thing of beauty on these sets, far superior to the hideous Android crap on Sony TVs for example. Oh and the TV still works as a TV which is always a useful thing. I'd hasten to add I think WebOS is the current best smart TV interface.

anyway, your older lcd or led 1080p screen does a much better job for sd-hd material.
