I am glad we agree. This is an oven, but quicker than traditional. So why Philips tells people it is the Air Fryer ? It doesn't fry at all !!!
Chips, sausages or hamburgers tastes much, much better when fry them, better than from oven, even better than from Air Fryer. Sorry.

For me, its a lot quicker than my oven, It cooks potato products like wedges, new potatoes and chips made fresh without having to par boil and they come out really good, my fan electric oven doesnt do that, I suspect my oven is a bit crap but this saves me loads of time and mess. I pop both bits in the dishwasher, usually soak for a bit first. Hubby has been toasting his sandwiches in it. The issue more so is the size, for us though not so much of an issue as we often eat at different times and different meals but really not big enough

A lot of people complain about cleaning these, and with good reason....just tackling ours now and come up with a great tip for it.
The digital HD9230 comes with a removal mesh tray, it has a better design with larger honeycombed mesh panels...however on further inspection of the HD9220 whilst not having as good a quality mesh base it is merely held in place by four metal lugs which can easily be pushed back with a screwdriver and lifts right up and out of the basket for cleaning.
As it rests in the bottom of the basket I see no problem leaving it with the tabs permanently bent back to avoid stress on the metal eventually leading to them snapping off.
The only problem I could see about doing this is if you tip your food out of the basket rather than spooning it out.
Really makes cleaning far, far easier especially with baked on grease, using oven cleaning foams...can keep your unit looking really good.

Bought one of these when it was £50 at Tesco. Not sure why - it doesn't seem to do anything you can't do in a normal fan oven. Perhaps it warms up faster but that's about all.
If anyone can explain the point, I'd be interested to hear. And if anyone wants to buy one, used three times, let me know.

You must be doing something wrong. I really like mine. Cut the chips rinse them in cold water put 1/4 tbs of oil on them then cook for 20mins shaking every 5 mins.

Wow, I'm surprised found ours crisps up everything far batter than an oven, Chicken is amazing done in here, I've done so many things in here, I find it in between a deep fat fryer and oven.
Toasties are great in these as well, crispy duck the list goes on
. As others have said anything from the freezer really.
The only thing I've been disappointed in is veg, still best roasted in the oven. Although Parsnips crisps are tasty!!

After 3 years my Actifry died last week. Was going to replace but this seems interesting.
Has anyone got both? Would be interested to see if chips in this are as good as Actifry.

I haven't tried the actifry but I did a lot of online research and the Philips seemed to be the preferred, I guess it's like most things though and down to personal preference

oh I bought the black one today but the white one would have matched my kitchen better
Tried roast potatoes this evening, i didn't get the crisp I usually do in the oven but possibly my fault for turning the heat down in the last couple of minutes (might have caused them to go soft) I cooked for 30mins altogether from peeled potato, a massive time saver as I usually par boil for ten mins then roast for 40mins. Potatoes were lovely and soft inside. For me I hope that it will save time and energy for us instead of having the oven going so much

I love mine and cook all sorts in it, make sure you clean it properly after each cook though or it can smoke a lot.

Really really useful kitchen gadget. One if the few that didn't get put away after 2 uses.
I use mine for chips, roasties, jackets anything frozen for an easy kids' tea (nuggets, fish fingers, waffles etc) cooks brilliantly.
Also mentioned earlier it does steak, sausages, chicken etc.
Also great for snacks like samosas/pakoras/pizzas.
Wouldn't be without mine. Well worth it at this price.

I love mine, got it for £49 in the black friday deals.
I use mine several times a week, its handy for quick lunches etc...
Cooked steak in mine for the first time last week, smoked like mad but was honestly cooked perfectly, i was really surprised as i usually cook on a proper cast iron griddle!
My other personal favourite is Nandos chicken in pitta for lunch, takes about 15 mins in the AirFryer to make it a little chargrilled on the outside but still nice in the middle.
Also great for fry-ups, use mine every weekend for bacon and sausages!
