vibration reduction is not at these retailers. I stand corrected.

Is it worth paying the extra for this lens?

how many cameras do you want?
for the sake of 10quid though its worth buying vr versions and if the others dont come with the extras then definitely
bag is maybe a bit meh (dunno) but the others alone are worth way more than a tenner

I'm not convinced this guy will be the ACTUAL wedding photographer. I'm sure a professional will be hired for that job. He's probably going to be someone who takes odd photos of the day. Most people serious about their wedding day will not skimp on the one thing they will have to remember it by.

can anyone tell me whether this has better image quality than the cheaper canon 1200D or 100D?

I asked the same question on here a couple of months ago and was steered towards this. I've been waiting for a good deal on the VR lens kit (missed out on the recent Amazon deal) and this was the deal that got me to bite.

Ouch you may as well give in now.
If you want to go budget.
Buy this, sell lens and get a used 35mm 1.8 and Nikkor 80-200 f2.8. Yes that is about £100 and £300 respectively. However you will get that money back selling them later . Consider it rental lenses  though you need to manual focus the 80-200. Alternatively buy a used D7000 then you get AF on the body.
Even just the 35mm will be your friend.
If you are the only photographer, tell your partner that it's a mistake and to get a pro in. It's way too much pressure unless you've done it before.

At this price point I'd seriously consider a used D7000. The built-in focus motor allows for some brilliant AF-D lenses to autofocus and there's a lot to be said for having two SD card slots. Buy from MPB and you'll get a decent used example with a warranty.

I looked at the D7xxx series as well but the AF wasn't massively important to me. When you get comfortable with DSLR's many tend to focus manually in advance anyway. Unless I'm being lazy! Decided to go for this in the end but I can see why some would go for the D7xxx or better series.
