Likewise, acquired one when we bought our gaff. It has outlasted a Mountfield and Large Hayter both with Briggs engines. Just need to sharpen the blade this year and change the oil. Would happily get another with a Tecumseh engine.
Do you know of any recent models/brands that have one?

Have not got a huge garden but not found it difficult to push the petrol mower. About £300 but Honda izzy 16 inch are pretty good.

I was going to place an order for this today, but after reading all these comment, it may not be a good idea now....
Any recommendation on a cheap, durable and self-propelled lawnmower WITH Briggs engine? I need one very soon (redoing the lawn at the moment). Thanks.

Love my petrol mower but it's got an engine! if you expect to just firer it up year after year without maintenance then buy an electric mower.

The mountfield gets very good reviews on both Amazon and Screwfix.

Really wouldn't advise getting one of these. Had one for 4 years. Fine first year. Had massive problems with hunting and had to strip the carb every year. I'm looking to replace for next season and wouldn't waste my time with these cheap Mountfield machines again. The non briggs engines are garbage.

I've had a cheap mower with Tecumseh engine for about 15 years. Never maintained it other than change the oil sometimes (generally I've used car oil, 15w 40 or something). Never changed the spark plug. Never drain the fuel at end of the summer. It has never failed to start, sure takes a couple of spins at the start of the season but once it's going it keeps going. It has one of those rubber "primer" button type carb rather than a choke flap setting you might find on other mowers.
