True but the smart ultra 6 will never see Marshmallow, never mind Android N. Plus the camera is far better here and so is the build quality, screen is a better quality panel, water repellent nano coating, front facing speaker, customisation in Moto maker, Turbo charging support. Oh and that battery life though! I think it is worth the extra cash for people who care about those things.

This is a mid range phone, you should always look at it chipset before buying a phone. The 615 Snapdragon (SD) doesn't compare to the LG G4 808 SD chipset.
4xx SD chipset (budget), 6xx SD chipset (mid range), 8xx SD chipset (flagship). This phone is over priced and for me, to be a good deal has to be sub £170. This phone would have been a good phone and worth it launch price if it came with an old 801 SD chipset like what Oneplus have done with the OnePlus X

I've always been sceptical about software updates in that they don't make much difference to a phone, but I have to say Marshmallow on the X Play has made a big difference for the better, and with the long battery life it's a supurb phone. I would add that my wife does have a Smart Ultra and that is a very good phone.

I think it's over priced for 615 cpu phone. Pretty well built but the SU6 is as good spec wise for half the price.

The obligatory "SU6 available cheaper" post. I wonder if a mobile phone deal will ever get posted without someone offering up the SU6

I think it's actually a better value than the Moto G, which has some really harsh competition with better specs in its price bracket. This is a *much* better phone for not a lot more.

Agree totally with all of that. But having had a 615 I found it slow, not as bad as the moto g 3rd gen I have at mo though lol. Just not sure its worth double with a 615 in it, just my opinion though.

I agree with the 615 point, Moto made the wrong decision and I think they should have put in the the older yet more powerful 801 like the Moto X 2014. Still apparantly now the Play has got the Marshmallow update it performs far better than it did under lollipop.

Because it's the law. In my experience, many (but not all) married women are far too busy looking after dopey husbands, children and possibly a job to be bothered about having the latest expensive tech. Easier to leave all that nonsense to the man, boys toys and all that. As long as their phone is reliable and does what they want it to do, that's all they are really bothered about.

Just bought a Play and was surprised to see that the physical dimensions are quite close to the Nexus 5x although the screen size is 5.5" vs 5.2". I would agree the 615 is probably the worst part about the Play (gets hot, can stutter) but overall it really has the best combination of price/specs: Screen (403 ppi), features (microSD, NFC, no gyro though), camera (21MP) and amazing battery life (3630mAh!) and mostly vanilla OS, versus similar counterparts (Honor 7, OnePlus Two, Asus Zenfone 2 Laser, Moto G3). Nexus really only has better CPU, fingerprint scanner and speedier updates going for it.

She didn't want to spend £200 on a phone: In fact, initially, she didn't want to spend £99 on a phone and she even went as far as trying a Smart First for £19, but it was just too bad. Also, wouldn't describe the Smart Ultra as 'crappy'.

Looking at replacing a Nexus 5 with one of these, battery life is just so bad, and so not sure a Nexus 5x is gonna hit the mark.

I just replaced my Nexus 5 with the a new Moto X Play. Battery life on the 3 year old Nexus was starting to approach 4-5 hours even with very limited use. Currently the Moto X Play is rocking on its third day with 25% left so I would say definately a BIG improvement

Something strange is happening with the codes. EASTER16 is working for me but not UKWELCOME10 and it is the other way round for some people. I have location/bluetooth disabled, don't use data that much, and only turn it on when I use it, and have enabled extreme doze so the email syncs only every 10mins. I do have 4-5hours of screen on time during the period so it's not like i'm not using it!
