Just picked this up at GAME in Cheshire Oaks. Chap on the till said it's a national thing.

I'd love to know what shop you're hearing this from, because they're seriously breaking company protocol and need reporting. I can assure you, we treat discs how we'd want them to be treated if we were the customer.
What store did you hear this from?

When they say "new" do remember that Game staff have a shrink wrap opening fetish. It's put me off buying games from there of any sort. No, it isn't "just to leave a display copy" because I was told they open ALL of them. Which is fairly pointless considering they're out the back.

Gamestation used to do that all the time with new games. But GAME never did but now I guess they changed, but online purchases are sealed

We don't open every single shrink-wrapped game, only 2 games get opened and get attached to what's called a 'control copy', the 2 'guts' go as displays on the shop floor, for example say there's 10 copies of the game and someone brings up a display copy, we give them a sealed one up until we hit the last 2, when it's the last 2 in the shop, when they bring the box up, we get the disc from the draw and put it in the box.

Love to know what store opening all their copies of a game; it ain't company policy. We open 2 copy for the New back catalog then Sealed copies then kept behind counter until those opened copies are the only ones left.

Not entirely sure why you're trying to spread falsehood - 2 get opened and displayed on the shelf, every other brand new copy gets stored in drawers behind the tills or on shelves in back.
If it's some Japanese game that we only ever get 2 copies of, such as Sword Art Online, then of those 2 that we get in stock, yes, 100% will be opened. Because there is only 2.

My 2 local game stores hardly had anything on sale. But I did manage to get Battlefield Hardline for PC for £5. Also saw stacks of Halo 3 for 49p.

Store reservations are 99p, not ordering online. Go through the store checker and it shows at 99p.

Strange, unsure why that particular employee told you that, unless that specific store does things differently or you were talking to a temporary worker, I've not the foggiest idea. And as for mistreating the discs, I personally take a lot of care when handling discs when they're pre-owned or gutted new discs, I feel bad and apologize if you've had bad experiences in the past, but not all of us working at GAME are out there to intentionally/accidentally mistreat the discs  I'm merely a sales assistant who enjoys helping people out

That's interesting because a Game employee, when I asked if they had any factory sealed copies of a PS4 game, told me no because they open them all. Oh and when you say "put it" in the box - is that before or after using the disc as a frisbee and covering it in fingerprints? I would never be disrespectful to staff in any shop, anywhere, but really - try treating customer's purchases with a bit more respect than I've witnessed.

Just been to my local store and it's £19.99. I asked them about it being 99p elsewhere and they told me that was store specific and not national. So no vote from me as yet again it's another GAME Goose Chase!

Did it scan at £19.99? I was told it is a national deal and the website is showing 99p also.

Special Reserve were another company who's staff just couldn't resist the temptation of nice tight cling film!!!
Great shop but frustrating as they'd open the game box, take the contents out and put the box on the shelf where half the town would handle it before you bought it! Made it feel 2nd hand :disappointed:

Ahh Special Reserve, what a blast from the past. Spent ton of time as a kid with no money checking out the catalogue.

Nope, they have sent me multiple times opened copies although I ordered new online.
Apparently if they don´t have online stock they send store copies, that´s the reason why I don´t shop at GAME anymore.

It was likely being voted cold because WB isn't supporting the PC version anymore its got the old terrible netcode, only kombat pack 1, no mk XL and no more updates that the console version will have etc.
Think that's why alot of MK deals gets lots of cold votes now

But what was the point of having two competing game stores in the same high street if they are owned by the same company. No wonder they almost went bankrupt

They bought Gamestation and kept it as a seperate brand. I believe at one point Game had a 'Gamestation Loyalty Card', when the **** hit the fan for Game and they were looking at becoming non-existent, they decided to close off all those Gamestation branches they had bought out and reduced back to just being Game.
At least I believe/think this was the case

I thought GAME purchased Gamestation (Their competitors) and so they are one company now. Like google bought youtube but not in the same way because google kept youtube name

Well they're not really together. Gamestation closed in 2012
