Hi OP, please don't edit the deal when the price has increased from £602 to £669 - as the original listed offer is no longer available then this thread is correctly expired.

Personally, I think your business are crazy to even offer you either device. It doesn't sound like you'll use their capabilities in any meaningful way.
If it were me though, I'd be going for the Surface Book. Detachable tablet and a dedicated GPU means makes a big difference - and the digitiser screen technology is much better too.

Probably the best 2in1 device on the market but depends what you use it for, especially the M3 model. For students and business presentations on the move then this is excellent kit. It's also ideal for users who like the idea of a tablet but don't feel they're quite ready to ditch the laptop yet.
Where it isn't great is if:
- You're a gamer. This thing has no graphics chops and struggles to run 3-4yr old games on decent settings.
- Pure entertainment purposes. Battery drain of using for video when unplugged is high due to the power and screen size, it's also too big and heavy to hold in the hands for extended periods.
As a gamer, I've ruled it out but if I was a student or mobile professional then it's excellent. The surface book is another decent device but the screen hinge means it doesn't close flat and so can collect dust in the keyboard when travelling.

I've got the x360 (the i5 5200u version with 1080p screen) and it is excellent. I sold my original surface pro and asus t100 to go towards it. Love the all day battery life, if I forget charger I can get through a days work with power to spare. Screen is excellent as is the keyboard. Bit too weighty to use in tablet mode for long periods, but useful functionality nonetheless. 8gb would be nice but it mainly runs SQL server, iis
, Dreamweaver, Photoshop and steam (he he) and hasn't struggled yet

A 128GB 9.7" iPad Pro costs £698 (£619.00 + £79.00 for the Apple Pencil) and the 12.9" model costs £878 (£799.00 + £79). The pricing isn't that nuts when compared to Apple's.
Perhaps a better alternative to the Surface Pro 4 if you do a lot of typing is HP's Spectre X360 which costs £749 for the following spec.
The screen doesn't detach, but it can be folded back to work in tablet mode.

Oh nice was that £600 as well? If it was I would definitely get it as although it is essentially the same thing I do prefer the rigid hinge.
Yes there is a premium over other devices, but at what it does the Surface is king. If your use case doesn't fit then yeah, it's probably not worth it
For note-taking and such it's ace, as an Engineering student it's invaluable being able to take notes on the screen with the pen, being able to plot graphs and then draw on them is fab, and annotating PDF notes and lecture slides all while recording the lecture audio is incredible

£700+ for a tablet and bluetooth keyboard (which isn't even that great to type on) and only 4gb.....people must be crazy.
