Nice spec etc .... but
Surface Pro 4 my view to all this portability etc
1 it is still heavy to hold 1 hand not like Ipad or Tab S2 .... So all usage will be on the desk maybe 10 minutes in hand than back to table
2 Touch usage how much programs optimized to use as finger touch ? Yes they are on windows 10 but it is not the same experience as full touch on android or Ipad
I think that part touch finger friendly and will lot of times when need mouse
4 Accessories need to buy extra like keyboard cover - where laptop got keyboard do not need to buy anything
5 Portability me I do prefer phone size Note 4 or else up to 6 inch screen I got everything camera phone , can navigate , can easy read web etc ... This what I call perfect size little tablet size and phone + 4K video recording
6 Gaming or coding videos etc ? Do I want to work on dual core cpu ??? Gaming on Intel GPU ?? What for £250 you can get PS4 or xbox one it will be 10 times better Or maybe you are the minecraft gamer than yes surface is perfect for this. My point I do not see why you want to spend more money on core i7 or core i5 when cpu trotelling and heat and battery usage + gaming hmmm
I do see people working with laptop / same gaming -- but if we have 12 - 14 inch laptop and 27 inch desktop PC what is your work station will be laptop or desktop ???
I can easy by surface pro 4 but than Im giving my self question what I will do with this device when I have
27 Inch 6 core PC with 4 x SSD + Crossfire GPU will I work on surface pro 4 ??/ or just use as media player or read web ???
I have Galaxy tab S2 and I love this device the amoled 9.7 inch and light it is perfect to read news read emails , youtube , etc ...

Got to agree with Stevenfeeny, far from heavy and definitely not clunky, especially in i5 and i7 spec. As for cost still think it's hard to beat 2k 3:2 screen, proper stylus and the mag alloy chassis. Yes it's expensive but it is a premium product.

Of the various Pro 4 models, which is the best value combination,ie. spec 'vs' price? I've been wanting one for a while to take on trips where a traditional laptop is too heavy and I need full functionality (with the keyboard cover). Thanks in advance!
I would say the i5 8gb 256gb is best middle ground. Not checked present line up but if there is an i5 4gb 256gb ssd, that would do if on a budget and only basic use. The 512gb models are a step up in price and I think the 128gb would get too small after a while. You can add a sd card as extra storage which can give you up to another 128gb.

Not quite, even you got a job, you still cannot afford one, the government has, in your name, borrowed one point five trillion plus printed extra four hundred billion pounds and borrowed several hundred billions from private finance initiative scheme, so as to have more money circulating so you got money in you job which you shouldn't have.

And bigger macro economics explanation above, I would recommend £450 for a Dell Lattitude 7000 series refurbished, as I have one, even when I could afford £1000. Put it this way, if all laptops in UK were £1000 instead of average at £350 , the bigger picture view says value for money is the lower price that does the job adequately. However the Surface Pro is an excellent personal choice for some, great product a la feel of MacBook Air.

i do agree your analysis. however there does seem to be a growing market for these things. more and more bars and restaurants are using these for some reason. I am starting to seeing these being used to replace notepads etc. I think it's the convenience of a large screen and able to check emails along with its portability would mean it will be used by many people. a lot of people I know have these are getting it through their companies so cost is almost no relevant.
personally I wouldn't get one myself.

I love the surface I use from work, however £1000 is too high a price for me to want to pay out of my own pocket.
I very rarely use mousepad. I use the pen most of the time.

I don't get why you would pay that much money for a device that is essentially a mini laptop, the specs aren't jaw dropping, I've had a surface pro 3 and I've hardly used it much but then again I'm a gamer and you certainly can't play games on it
any Student deals that can be applied to this?
was using the original surface and it was great
but this is still quite bit of money

As a long term Mac user, if you only watch netflix, browse and play games then get any old tablet, they're all the same really, but iPads are easier to use and pricier than the cheap android ones. If you want to use apps like Adobe CC, need pressure sensitivity and produce graphic work on the go, then a Surface Pro is your only choice. Depends on your requirements but I think that saving £700 on a tablet that can't do the job that you need it to do is a false economy.
