genuine question. is the stuff used in these healthy?

No, it's processed and contains sulphites. Compared to gristle, cartilage etc. though I guess you could call it healthy.
These are very nice incidentally. My kids always turned their noses up at 'real' sausages but love these.

Sulphites are only bad if you're allergic to them. Lots of things have sulphites in. Beer, wine, dried fruit, etc.
And please don't use that word "processed". It doesn't mean what you think it means.

These are the only veggie sausages I like. I'm really not keen on Quorn, can eat Cauldron at a push but Linda McCartney ones if choice.

Amazingly enough, the word 'processed' is in the dictionary so I know exactly what it means. This product is predominantly textured vegetable protein (soya) which is a product that was (thanks wikipedia) invented by a "global food processing...corporation". It also contains stabilisers and raising agents.

Incidentally OP it just occurred your ingredients are out of date. They used to be made with wheat protein but they changed the box to white and started using textured vegetable protein from soy quite recently.

I didn't say it wasn't a word. Just that it doesn't have the meaning you think it means in this context. Which is nothing. Also don't know why you mention it's got stabilisers and raising agents too. Just reading out the ingredients?

tried these before and was mighty shocked at how nice and 'meaty' they were. nothing at all like I imagined for veggie sausages.

This is processed food, if you are saying it isn't then you are misinformed. As for the ingredients they are not the worst but still not something you want to be eating often.

These are nice but preferred the Italian sausages, alot tastier. Totally gutted that they don't make them anymore.

Short of picking food out of your own garden all food is processed to some point.
I wish people would use there common sense about things and not go on 'crusades' about things.
It never works out for the good.

Everything is processed to some degree. What is your point?
And as for the ingredients. Why might one not want them?

rofl hardly a crusade to point out this is cack food. If you don't understand why that's your problem. Eat them all day in your vegan paradise haha!

Ah the old "If you don't understand I'm not going to explain it to you" routine. I'm sure it's nothing to do with the fact you can't.

real meat is cheaper

That may be, though looking at Sainsburys sausages they appear to be at best the same price. However, price is not the only reason we eat certain foods.
